O meu lembrar pelos meus direitos: memória e direito à cidade em uma favela do Rio de Janeiro

    Get PDF

    Get PDF
Cidade de Deus is a housing complex built in the early 1960s to house residents of slums removed, mainly from Rio de Janeiro south zone. Since then, it has become one of the most famous city slums, having been the scene of an armed confrontation between local drug dealers at the turn of the 1970s to the 1980s. This episode had wide repercussions in the press of the time, having become the subject of a 2002 film with wide international repercussions. Thus, the objective of this work is to compare the journalistic coverage with the narrative of the film, understanding how the second can be considered a memory speech, from the differences of the representations present in each case

Frequency of the New HLA-B*2709 Allele in Ankylosing Spondylitis Patients and Healthy Individuals

We have recently described a new HLA-B27 subtype, named HLA-B*2709 (Del Porto et al. 1994). This allele is identical to the subtype most frequently found in Caucasoids, HLA-B*2705, except for a single amino acid substitution (Asp to His) in position 116. This residue, that is part of the F pocket of the molecule, has been shown to be relevant in determining which C-terminal amino acid of HLA-class I-binding peptides can be accomodated into the groove (Elliott, 1993). In nonamer peptides, this aminoacid corresponds to a primary anchor position (P9; Madden et al., 1992). Accordingly, we have previously shown that B2709 molecule hardly accepts nonamer peptides with an Arg or Tyr in P9, while the same amino acids represent good anchors for B2705 molecules (Fiorillo et al., 1995). Special attention is focused on HLA-B27 subtypes because of the strong association of B27 with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). More than 90% of AS patients are B27-positive and, conversely, about 4% of B27-positive individuals in the population are affected. This represents a relative risk over 100, that is the highest in HLA-disease associations. However, little is known on the pathogenic mechanisms of the disease. Following the hypothesis that an antigenic B27-binding peptide is involved in the disease (the so-called arthritogenic peptide), differential association with the different B27 subtypes may give a clue on the nature of such peptide. If two subtypes of partially overlapping peptide binding specificity are found to be both AS-associated, this would restrict the search for peptides that can be bound by both allelic products. Conversely, if a B27 subtype is found to be non AS-associated, this would be even more helpful in eliminating an array of peptides as possible candidates

Probing the weak mixing angle at high energy

The weak mixing angle is a probe of the vector-axial coupling structure of electroweak interactions. It has been measured precisely at the ZZ-pole by experiments at the LEP and SLD colliders, but its energy dependence above MZM_Z remains unconstrained. In this contribution we propose to exploit measurements of Neutral-Current Drell Yan at large invariant dilepton masses at the Large Hadron Collider, to determine the scale dependence of the weak mixing angle in the MS\overline{MS} renormalisation scheme, sin2θwMS(μ)\sin^2 \theta_w^{\overline{MS}}(\mu). Such a measurement can be used to test the Standard Model predictions for the MS\overline{MS} running at TeV scales, and to set model-independent constraints on new states with electroweak quantum numbers. To this end, we present an implementation of sin2θwMS(μ)\sin^2 \theta_w^{\overline{MS}}(\mu) in the POWHEG-BOX Monte Carlo event generator, which we use to explore the potential of future analyses with the LHC Run~3 and High-Luminosity datasets. In particular, the impact of the higher order corrections and of the uncertainties due to the knowledge of parton distribution functions are studied.Comment: Presented at DIS2023 - XXX International Workshop on Deep-Inelastic Scattering and related subject

Sacituzumab govitecan and radiotherapy in metastatic, triple-negative, and BRCA-mutant breast cancer patient with active brain metastases: A case report

Background: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an aggressive cancer subtype, owing to its high metastatic potential: Patients who develop brain metastases (BMs) have a poor prognosis due to the lack of effective systemic treatments. Surgery and radiation therapy are valid options, while pharmacotherapy still relies on systemic chemotherapy, which has limited efficacy. Among the new treatment strategies available, the antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) sacituzumab govitecan has shown an encouraging activity in metastatic TNBC, even in the presence of BMs. Case presentation: A 59-year-old woman was diagnosed with early TNBC and underwent surgery and subsequent adjuvant chemotherapy. A germline pathogenic variant in BReast CAncer gene 2 (BRCA2) was revealed after genetic testing. After 11 months from the completion of adjuvant treatment, she had pulmonary and hilar nodal relapse and began first-line chemotherapy with carboplatin and paclitaxel. However, after only 3 months from starting the treatment, she experienced relevant disease progression, due to the appearance of numerous and symptomatic BMs. Sacituzumab govitecan (10 mg/kg) was started as second-line treatment as part of the Expanded Access Program (EAP). She reported symptomatic relief after the first cycle and received whole-brain radiotherapy (WBRT) concomitantly to sacituzumab govitecan treatment. The subsequent CT scan showed an extracranial partial response and a near-to-complete intracranial response; no grade 3 adverse events were reported, even if sacituzumab govitecan was reduced to 7.5 mg/kg due to persistent G2 asthenia. After 10 months from starting sacituzumab govitecan, a systemic disease progression was documented, while intracranial response was maintained. Conclusions: This case report supports the potential efficacy and safety of sacituzumab govitecan in the treatment of early recurrent and BRCA-mutant TNBC. Despite the presence of active BMs, our patient had a progression-free survival (PFS) of 10 months in the second-line setting and sacituzumab govitecan was safe when administered together with radiation therapy. Further real-world data are warranted to confirm sacituzumab govitecan efficacy in this patient population
