Manejo de parasitoses em sistema orgânico de produção de leite.
Os sistemas agropecuários de produção orgânica respondem às necessidades do mercado e às crescentes preocupações dos consumidores, relacionadas à qualidade dos alimentos, ao respeito ao meio ambiente e ao bem-estar dos animais. Em tais sistemas de produção animal, o emprego de produtos químicos de síntese é severamente limitado. Assim, a conversão de um sistema de produção animal convencional em sistema de produção orgânica é acompanhada de alterações relacionadas à intensidade e à diversidade de infestação/infecção dos animais por ecto e endoparasitos, tornando indispensável o emprego de medidas profiláticas. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo expor as principais questões relacionadas ao manejo de parasitoses em sistemas orgânicos de produção de leite, assim como suas perspectivas de controle
Vision based referee sign language recognition system for the RoboCup MSL league
In RoboCup Middle Size league (MSL) the main referee uses assisting technology, controlled by a second referee, to support him, in particular for conveying referee decisions for robot players with the help of a wireless communication system.
In this paper a vision-based system is introduced, able to interpret dynamic and static gestures of the referee, thus eliminating the need for a second one. The referee's gestures are interpreted by the system and sent directly to the Referee Box, which sends the proper commands to the robots. The system is divided into four modules: a real time hand tracking and feature extraction, a SVM (Support Vector Machine) for static hand posture identification, an HMM (Hidden Markov Model) for dynamic unistroke hand gesture recognition, and a FSM (Finite State Machine) to control the various system states transitions. The experimental results showed that the system works very reliably, being able to recognize the combination of gestures and hand postures in real-time. For the hand posture recognition, with the SVM model trained with the selected features, an accuracy of 98,2% was achieved. Also, the system has many advantages over the current implemented one, like avoiding the necessity of a second referee, working on noisy environments, working on wireless jammed situations. This system is easy to implement and train and may be an inexpensive solution
Stokes Diagnostis of 2D MHD-simulated Solar Magnetogranulation
We study the properties of solar magnetic fields on scales less than the
spatial resolution of solar telescopes. A synthetic infrared
spectropolarimetric diagnostics based on a 2D MHD simulation of
magnetoconvection is used for this. We analyze two time sequences of snapshots
that likely represent two regions of the network fields with their immediate
surrounding on the solar surface with the unsigned magnetic flux density of 300
and 140 G. In the first region we find from probability density functions of
the magnetic field strength that the most probable field strength at logtau_5=0
is equal to 250 G. Weak fields (B < 500 G) occupy about 70% of the surface,
while stronger fields (B 1000 G) occupy only 9.7% of the surface. The magnetic
flux is -28 G and its imbalance is -0.04. In the second region, these
parameters are correspondingly equal to 150 G, 93.3 %, 0.3 %, -40 G, and -0.10.
We estimate the distribution of line-of-sight velocities on the surface of log
tau_5=-1. The mean velocity is equal to 0.4 km/s in the first simulated region.
The averaged velocity in the granules is -1.2 km/s and in the intergranules is
2.5 km/s. In the second region, the corresponding values of the mean velocities
are equal to 0, -1.8, 1.5 km/s. In addition we analyze the asymmetry of
synthetic Stokes-V profiles of the Fe I 1564.8 nm line. The mean values of the
amplitude and area asymmetry do not exceed 1%. The spatially smoothed amplitude
asymmetry is increased to 10% while the area asymmetry is only slightly varied.Comment: 24 pages, 12 figure
Comparative analgesia between acupuncture and dipyrone in odontalgia
The aim of this study was to assess whether the effectiveness of acupuncture is similar to the use of analgesics in the management of toothache. The research included 56 volunteers who were divided into 4 groups: Real Acupuncture group, Placebo Acupuncture group, Real Dipyrone group, and Placebo Dipyrone group. The interventions of the study were performed before the dental care. Inclusion criteria were toothache of pulpal origin with pain scale (Visual Analogue Scale) above 4, absence of medication for the pain, and aged over 18 years. The Real Acupuncture volunteers received a session of acupuncture using piercing needles, while volunteers from the Placebo Acupuncture group received an acupuncture session using non-piercing sham needles. Volunteers from the Real Dipyrone group received a dipyrone tablet and the Placebo Acupuncture group received a tablet with no active ingredient. Before any therapeutic intervention, we collected samples from the volunteers’ saliva to analyze the salivary cortisol, the volunteers rated the intensity of their pain using VAS, and we measured their energy level by the Ryodoraku method. After 20 minutes of treatment, all the volunteers’ analysis parameters were collected again. The Real Acupuncture group presented a greater reduction of VAS than the reduction obtained by the Real Dipyrone group (p<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between the groups for the salivary cortisol and energy level variables. QSOFEED: Relationship between star formation and active galactic nuclei feedback
Context. Large-scale cosmological simulations suggest that feedback from active galactic nuclei (AGN) plays a crucial role in galaxy evolution. More specifically, outflows are one of the mechanisms by which the accretion energy of the AGN is transferred to the interstellar medium (ISM), heating and driving out gas and impacting star formation (SF).
Aims. The purpose of this study is to directly test this hypothesis utilising SDSS spectra of a well-defined sample of 48 low-redshift (z < 0.14) type 2 quasars (QSO2s).
Methods. By exploiting these data, we were able to characterise the kinematics of the warm ionised gas by performing a non-parametric analysis of the [OIII]λ5007 emission line. We also constrained the properties of the young stellar populations (YSP; tysp < 100 Myr) of their host galaxies via spectral synthesis modelling.
Results. These analyses revealed that 85% of the QSO2s display velocity dispersions in the warm ionised gas phase greater than that of the stellar component of their host galaxies, indicating the presence of AGN-driven outflows. We compared the gas kinematics with the intrinsic properties of the AGN and found that there is a positive correlation between gas velocity dispersion and 1.4 GHz radio luminosity – but not with the AGN bolometric luminosity or Eddington ratio. This either suggests that the radio luminosity is the key factor driving outflows or that the outflows themselves are shocking the ISM and producing synchrotron emission. We found that 98% of the sample host YSPs to varying degrees, with star formation rates (SFRs) of 0 ≤ SFR ≤ 92 M⊙ yr−1, averaged over 100 Myr. We compared the gas kinematics and outflow properties to the SFRs to establish possible correlations that could suggest that the presence of the outflowing gas could be impacting SF, but we found that no such correlation exists. This leads us to the conclusion that on the scales probed by the SDSS fibre (between 2 and 7 kpc diameters), AGN-driven outflows do not impact SF on the timescales probed in this study. However, we find a positive correlation between the light-weighted stellar ages of the QSO2s and the black hole mass, which might indicate that successive AGN episodes lead to the suppression of SF over the course of galaxy evolution

Cissus Sicyoides: Pharmacological Mechanisms Involved In The Anti-inflammatory And Antidiarrheal Activities
The objective of this study was to evaluate the pharmacological mechanisms involved in anti-inflammatory and antidiarrheal actions of hydroalcoholic extract obtained from the leaves of Cissus sicyoides (HECS). The anti-inflammatory effect was evaluated by oral administration of HECS against acute model of edema induced by xylene, and the mechanisms of action were analysed by involvement of arachidonic acid (AA) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). The antidiarrheal effect of HECS was observed and we analyzed the motility and accumulation of intestinal fluid. We also analyzed the antidiarrheal mechanisms of action of HECS by evaluating the role of the opioid receptor, α2 adrenergic receptor, muscarinic receptor, nitric oxide (NO) and PGE2. The oral administration of HECS inhibited the edema induced by xylene and AA and was also able to significantly decrease the levels of PGE2. The extract also exhibited significant anti-diarrheal activity by reducing motility and intestinal fluid accumulation. This extract significantly reduced intestinal transit stimulated by muscarinic agonist and intestinal secretion induced by PGE2. Our data demonstrate that the mechanism of action involved in the anti-inflammatory effect of HECS is related to PGE2. The antidiarrheal effect of this extract may be mediated by inhibition of contraction by acting on the intestinal smoothmuscle and/or intestinal transit. © 2016 by the authors; licensee MDPI, Basel, Switzerland.17
