    Bahasa mencerminkan kepribadian seseorang dalam berkomunikasi atau berinteraksi. Dalam hal demikian, penting untuk mempelajari dan mengetahui bahasa yang santun agar komunikasi berjalan lancar dan tidak terjadi kesalahpahaman. Tujuna penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui analisis kesantunan berbahasa (language etiquette) mahasiswa teknik mesin polines dalam berkomunikasi tertulis dengan dosen. Metode penelitian menggunakan kuantitatif dengan analisis deskriptif. Adapun data koresponden 130 Mahasiswa Diploma. Hasil penelitian ini Dan dalam hasil analisis ANOVA juga dapat diketahui bahwa pada bagian ini ditampilkan hasil yang diperoleh adalah nilai F= 0.197 dengan tingkat probilitas sig. 0,022, oleh karena signifikansi < alpha (0,05) jauh lebih kecil dari 0,05 maka Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima artinya Terdapat Pengaruh yang signifikan Tingkat kesantunan Berbahasa Mahasiswa Teknik Polines dalam Komunikasi tertulis dengan Dosen

    Effect of material properties on ductility factor of singly rc beam sections

    Ductility may be defined as the ability to undergo deformations without a substantial reduction in the flexural capacity of the member. The ductility of reinforced concrete beams depends mainly on the shape of the moment-curvature relationship of the sections. The constituents of reinforced concrete are very complex due to its mechanical properties. The stress-strain behavior of concrete is considered parabolic and that of the steel is elastic plastic. Concrete and reinforcing steel are represented by separate material models that are combined together to describe the behavior of the reinforced concrete sections. The end displacements of the steel element are assumed to be compatible with the boundary displacements of the concrete element which implied perfect bond between them. The curvature ductility factor of singly reinforced concrete rectangular beams is derived taking into account the possible nonlinear behavior of the unconfined compressed concrete and reinforcing steel. Effects of material properties such as concrete compressive strength, reinforcement ratio and yield strength of reinforcement on the curvature ductility factors are derived analytically. From the analyses it is observed that an increasing steel content decreases the curvature ductility of a singly reinforced concrete section and this pattern is valid for any concrete strength. On the other hand, for the same reinforcement content curvature ductility increases as the concrete strength is increased

    The application of BIM tools to explore the dynamic characteristics of smart materials in a contemporary Shanashil building design element

    Traditional architecture is known for its crafted facade features that respond to environmental, social and cultural requirements. Contemporary architecture produced façade features that attempted to enhance local design identity and local culture. Despite the advantages of modern technology, architectural elements have difficulties in fulfilling the idea of sustainable elegance that once traditional elements provided. This problem calls for an interdisciplinary design approach to deliver sustainable design solutions that positively adapt to the surrounding environment as well as maintain the state of elegance in design. With this in mind, the research aims to explore the role of new glass technologies to improve the performance and at the same time maintain the design value of traditional façade element “shanashil” in Baghdadi buildings. This research utilises BIM tools and uses smart materials to restore the lost value in design, which mimics the dynamic characteristics observed in nature, inspired by biomimetics strategies. Such qualities are found in the characteristics of smart dynamic glazing material particularly in the switchable, reversible properties of transparency and coloration efficiency. The material characteristics are attached to a 3D digital prototype to visualise the difference between dynamic and static properties through the use of technology tools Revit plugin and smart glazing virtual reality prototype. This research concludes that the dynamic characteristics of smart glazing materials are effective in delivering a multifunctional design quality to collectively blend in harmony with the surrounding environment

    Energy Production and Environmental Concerns in Nigeria: The Case of Kaduna Petroleum Refinery on its Host Community

    Energy production and environmental pollution has been a topic of interest to diverse groups especially in developing nations where stringent environmental measures are not observed. This work aimed at exploring the various issues associated with a petroleum Refinery in kaduna metropolis of Nigeria. The Refinery was established last 30 years and without the mandatory Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). This therefore generated environmental stress to the host ecosystem and is causing serious concerns to the host community. The research work has used both Questionnaire survey and laboratory analysis of some selected parameters with the view to finding the factual condition of the ecosystem, so that the opposing claims of both the host community of Rido and that of the petroleum Refinery could be verified to know which one is correct. Samples of Soil, water and air were analyzed amongst others, the results indicated high concentration of heavy metals in both water and soil samples. The air sample also revealed high concentration of both oxides of Nitrogen and Sulfur. These findings and the others were compared to the WHO standards and were found to be above the maximum allowable levels for savanna ecosystem. The result was also corroborated by the findings from the medical and ecological studies which confirmed high degree of pollution related ailments and environmental stress of the surrounding species of flora and fauna. It was therefore recommended that bio-remediation and clean-up of contamination should be implemented together with adequate compensation for the host community of the Rido region., Keywords: Energy, Pollution, Ecosystem, Contamination, Refinery, Petroleu

    Studi ini bertujuan supaya memahami serta menganalisa bagaimana pengaruh gaya kepemimpinan transformasional kepada motivasi kerja pekerja Lapas Kelas IIB Pariaman. Secara simultan mencapai tujuan organisasi dan individu Lapas Kelas IIB Pariaman, serta anggota unit, adalah tugas utama pemimpin. Pemimpin bisa memberikan pengaruh pada bawahannya didalam melaksanakan perintah tanpa melakukan paksaan, hingga karyawan bertindak dan melaksanakan secara sukarela atas permintaan Lapas Kelas IIB Pariaman melalui rekomendasi pemimpin. Kepemimpinan transformasional tidak hanya mengenali kebutuhan bawahan, namun juga berupaya meningkatkan kebutuhan tingkat yang lebih tinggi dan lebih rendah ke tingkat yang sudah mapan. Sampel dalam survei ini adalah pegawai Lapas Kelas IIB Pariaman. Hasilnya, ditemukan bahwa motivasi dari gaya kepemimpinan transformasional untuk bekerja mmepunyai pengaruh yang besar
