    Alkaptonuria is rare disease with deficiency of homogentisate-1,2-dioxygenase enzyme, resulting in excess deposition of homogentisic acid in connective tissue. This deposition leads to ochronosis - brownish-black pigmentation of connective tissue. The result of pigmentation is weakness of connective tissue and, finally, chronic inflammation and osteoarthtritis. Currently specific treatment is absent, only sympothomatic. But total knee arthroplasty has good outcomes in patients of severe ochronotic arthritis similar to osteoarthritic patients without ochronosis.     Tritium accumulation and preservation into clay minerals for environmental protection

    The comparative analysis of new and previously received data is represented, which allows us to estimate the influence of hydrodynamic conditions on tritium accumulation and retention in clay minerals. We have received time dependence of the tritium exchange process with the hydrogen of natural clay mineral matrix, long time halfcycle tritium capture by clay, the part of total tritium activity captured by clay for long time (more then 1 year).     Efficacy of surgical treatment of renal form of hyperparathyroidism

    Objective: to study the efficacy of surgical treatment of primary hyperparathyroidism in risk of uronephrolithiasis progression. Material and Methods. The research involved 55 patients, the biochemical and clinical parameters before and after treatment with retrospective-prospective method of analysis were studied and analyzed. Results. It is established that the surgical treatment of patients with uronephrolithiasis is proved to be effective in 96,4% of the cases, as it allows to eliminate the classic symptoms of primary hyperparathyroidism, and urolithiasis. Improvement of laboratory hormonal and biochemical indices of mineral metabolism, and, consequently, reducing the severity of risk factors of urolithiasis is marked. Conclusion. Surgical treatment of renal forms of primary hyperparathyroidism is a pathogeneti-cally reasonable method. Parathyroidectomy performed in an adequate amount prevents relapses and progression of diseases that are the consequence of primary hyperparathyroidism.</p

    The authors retrospectively reviewed RNIITO Arthroplasty Registry data of revision total hip arthroplasties performed in RNIITO in 3 year period (2011-2013). Part of early revisions within 5 years after the index procedure in general revision structure was 33% . Two hundred seventy three (64%) procedures had infection reason, 79 (19%) - aseptic loosening, 35 (8%) - dislocation and 27 (6%) - periprosthetic fractures in reasons of revision, respectively. More than half of revisions were performed within the first year after the index procedure. Early primary revisions after index total hip arthroplasty were performed in 254 (59,8%)cases, and repeated revisions were performed in 171cases one or more times. Of early primary revisions 125(49,2%) patients had index total hip athroplasty in our hospital, and 129 (50,8%) patients had index total hip athroplasty in other hospitals of Russian Federation. Our THA early revision structure is differs significantly from published in literature, moreover there is difference between revision reasons after primary total hip arthroplasty of our hospital and other hospitals.     Purpose. Estimation of critical value of acetabular component uncoverage enabling its implantation without an additional support. Methods. A comparative analysis of an original method for intraoperative measurement of uncoverage space of acetabular component based on the measurement of the depth of uncovered sector with X-ray control by the same technique was carried out. Mathematical computer modeling based on the finite element techniqueand the mechanical experiment were performed. Critical values of uncoverage enabling safe primary fixation of acetabular component were estimated in designed models. Results. High rate of coincidence of direct intraoperative and postoperative measurements by radiograms was obtained, testifying to the possibility of application of this technique of uncoverage estimation at the stage of preoperative X-ray planning in patients with different degree of dysplasia.     We demonstrate the temporal Talbot effect for trapped matter waves using ultracold atoms in an optical lattice. We investigate the phase evolution of an array of essentially non-interacting matter waves and observe matter-wave collapse and revival in the form of a Talbot interference pattern. By using long expansion times, we image momentum space with sub-recoil resolution, allowing us to observe fractional Talbot fringes up to 10th order.Comment: 17 pages, 7 figure

    Kaon Production and Kaon to Pion Ratio in Au+Au Collisions at \snn=130 GeV

    Mid-rapidity transverse mass spectra and multiplicity densities of charged and neutral kaons are reported for Au+Au collisions at \snn=130 GeV at RHIC. The spectra are exponential in transverse mass, with an inverse slope of about 280 MeV in central collisions. The multiplicity densities for these particles scale with the negative hadron pseudo-rapidity density. The charged kaon to pion ratios are K+/Ο€βˆ’=0.161Β±0.002(stat)Β±0.024(syst)K^+/\pi^- = 0.161 \pm 0.002 {\rm (stat)} \pm 0.024 {\rm (syst)} and Kβˆ’/Ο€βˆ’=0.146Β±0.002(stat)Β±0.022(syst)K^-/\pi^- = 0.146 \pm 0.002 {\rm (stat)} \pm 0.022 {\rm (syst)} for the most central collisions. The K+/Ο€βˆ’K^+/\pi^- ratio is lower than the same ratio observed at the SPS while the Kβˆ’/Ο€βˆ’K^-/\pi^- is higher than the SPS result.
