A series of tricarbonyl rhenium(I) complexes of the type fac-[Re 1(CO)3(Ppl)(L)]0/+, where ppl is pyrazino[2,3-f][1,10]phenanthroline, and where L is Cl-, TIO -, 4-(tert-butyl)pyridine (tBu-py), 4-methoxypyridine (MeO-py), 4,4â€Č-bipyridyl (bpy), or 10-(picolin-4-yl)phenothiazine (pptz), were synthesized and fully characterized. In all complexes, an increment in the electron-acceptor properties of ppl compared to the free ligand was observed. This effect was more significant for pyridine-type ligands, especially for pptz, compared to Cl- or TfO-. The properties of fac-[Re(CO)3(ppl)(pptz)]PF6 were compared with those of the analogous compound fac-[Re(CO)3(dppz)(pptz)]PF6, where dppz is dipyrido(3,2-a: 2â€Č,3â€Č-c)phenazine, the goal being to generate long-lived excited charge-transfer (CT) states. In this respect, fac-[Re(CO)3(ppl)(pptz)]PF6 seems to be a promising candidate

His Holiness Pope Francisco has modified the canonical marriage nullity declaration processes for the latin Church through the Motu Proprio «Mitis Iudex Dominus Iesus» An approach to the new canonical and procedural framework is performed, analyzing the main novelties introduced

Supersymmetric Dissipative Quantum Mechanics from Superstrings

Following the approach of Callan and Thorlacius applied to the superstring, we derive a supersymmetric extension of the non-local dissipative action of Caldeira and Leggett. The dissipative term turns out to be invariant under a group of superconformal transformations. When added to the usual kinetic term, it provides an example of supersymmetric dissipative quantum mechanics. As a by-product of our analysis, an intriguing connection to the homeotic/hybrid fermion model, proposed for CPT violation in neutrinos, appears.Comment: Latex, 16 page

Influence of ligand structure and molecular geometry on the properties of d6 polypyridinic transition metal complexes

    Get PDF
Different strategies to improve the excited state properties of polypyridinic complexes by varying ligand structure and molecular geometry are described. Bidentate and tetradentate ligands based on fragments as dipyrido[3,2-a:2â€Č,3â€Č-c]phenazine, dppz, and pyrazino[2,3-f][1,10]-phenanthroline, ppl, have been used. Quinonic residues were fused to these basic units to improve acceptor properties. Photophysical studies were performed in order to test theoretical predictions

Association between adiposity levels and cognitive impairment in the Chilean older adult population

    Get PDF
Although both obesity and ageing are risk factors for cognitive impairment, there is no evidence in Chile on how obesity levels are associated with cognitive function. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the association between adiposity levels and cognitive impairment in older Chilean adults. This cross-sectional study includes 1384 participants, over 60 years of age, from the Chilean National Health Survey 2009–2010. Cognitive impairment was evaluated using the Mini-Mental State Examination. BMI and waist circumference (WC) were used as measures of adiposity. Compared with people with a normal BMI, the odds of cognitive impairment were higher in participants who were underweight (OR 4·44; 95 % CI 2·43, 6·45; P < 0·0001), overweight (OR 1·86; 95 % CI 1·06, 2·66; P = 0·031) and obese (OR 2·26; 95 % CI 1·31, 3·21; P = 0·003). The associations were robust after adjustment for confounding variables. Similar results were observed for WC. Low and high levels of adiposity are associated with an increased likelihood of cognitive impairment in older adults in Chile

A Methodological Approach for Implementing an Integrated Multimorbidity Care Model: Results from the Pre-Implementation Stage of Joint Action CHRODIS-PLUS

    Get PDF
Patients with multimorbidity (defined as the co-occurrence of multiple chronic diseases) frequently experience fragmented care, which increases the risk of negative outcomes. A recently proposed Integrated Multimorbidity Care Model aims to overcome many issues related to fragmented care. In the context of Joint Action CHRODIS-PLUS, an implementation methodology was developed for the care model, which is being piloted in five sites. We aim to (1) explain the methodology used to implement the care model and (2) describe how the pilot sites have adapted and applied the proposed methodology. The model is being implemented in Spain (Andalusia and Aragon), Lithuania (Vilnius and Kaunas), and Italy (Rome). Local implementation working groups at each site adapted the model to local needs, goals, and resources using the same methodological steps: (1) Scope analysis; (2) situation analysis-"strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats" (SWOT) analysis; (3) development and improvement of implementation methodology; and (4) final development of an action plan. This common implementation strategy shows how care models can be adapted according to local and regional specificities. Analysis of the common key outcome indicators at the post-implementation phase will help to demonstrate the clinical effectiveness, as well as highlight any difficulties in adapting a common Integrated Multimorbidity Care Model in different countries and clinical settings
