A feasibility cachaca type recognition using computer vision and pattern recognition
Brazilian rum (also known as cachaça) is the third most commonly consumed distilled alcoholic drink in the world, with approximately 2.5 billion liters produced each year. It is a traditional drink with refined features and a delicate aroma that is produced mainly in Brazil but consumed in many countries. It can be aged in various types of wood for 1-3 years, which adds aroma and a distinctive flavor with different characteristics that affect the price. A research challenge is to develop a cheap automatic recognition system that inspects the finished product for the wood type and the aging time of its production. Some classical methods use chemical analysis, but this approach requires relatively expensive laboratory equipment. By contrast, the system proposed in this paper captures image signals from samples and uses an intelligent classification technique to recognize the wood type and the aging time. The classification system uses an ensemble of classifiers obtained from different wavelet decompositions. Each classifier is obtained with different wavelet transform settings. We compared the proposed approach with classical methods based on chemical features. We analyzed 105 samples that had been aged for 3 years and we showed that the proposed solution could automatically recognize wood types and the aging time with an accuracy up to 100.00% and 85.71% respectively, and our method is also cheaper.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Clinical presentation, histological findings, and prognosis in female dogs with mixed mammary neoplasms
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to describe the clinical and morphological characteristics of mixed mammary neoplasms and verify what characteristics affect the prognosis of female dogs with carcinomas in mixed tumors and carcinosarcomas. This was a retrospective study of 67 female dogs that underwent mastectomies and were diagnosed with benign mixed tumors (n=13), carcinomas in mixed tumors (n=44) and carcinosarcomas (n=10). Data regarding the clinical and histological aspects of the neoplasms were collected and the relation with specific survival times, and hazard ratios (HR) in 24 months was calculated. In univariate analysis, the diagnosis of carcinosarcoma (HR 8.26, p=0.006), carcinomatous areas with micropapillary or solid patterns (HR 17.49; p=0. 001) and lymph node metastasis (HR 7.07;p=0.020) were associated with specific survival. In multivariable analysis, only micropapillary or solid pattern (HR=16.34; p=0.007) remained independent factor associated with lower specific survival. Micropapillary or solid carcinomatous patterns were associated with shorter specific survival time (p=0.002) among animals with carcinomas in mixed tumors. Among the carcinosarcomas, lymph node metastasis (p=0.010) was associated with a shorter specific survival time. In conclusion, carcinomas in mixed tumors and carcinosarcomas vary in prognosis depending on the carcinomatous proliferation patterns and spread of the disease
Eficiência do protocolo Ovsynch em ovelhas da raça Santa Inês
Twenty six Santa Inês ewes were asigned to three treatments to evaluate the efficiency of the Ovsynch protocol. In the treatment 1 - control (n= 8), the estrus was synchronized with sponges containing 60 mg MAP for 14 days. On D14, 300 IU eCG were administered. In treatment 2 (n= 9) the Ovsynch protocol was used: 25 µg of GnRH (D0), 37.5 µg of PGF2a (D7) and 25 µg of GnRH (D9). In treatment 3 (n= 9) the modified Ovsynch protocol was used: the administration of PGF2a and second GnRH as two days early. Estrus detection was accomplished using teaser. All ewes were mated twice with 12 hours of interval. Pregnancy rate (PR) was evaluated by ultrasonography 30 days after the end of mating. Estrus response was of 88.46% on average, and without differences among treatments (p>0.05). The interval for onset of estrus was greater (p0.05). Pregnancy rate was significantly greater (p0,05).
The kinetics of gas production and in vitro ruminal degradation of diets contained replacement of soybean meal (SBM) by detoxicated castorbean meal (DCBM) (0, 15, 30 and 45% of substitution) were evaluated in this study. Values of gas production of non-fibrous carbohydrates (Vf1), fibrous carbohydrates (Vf2) and total carbohydrates (V) showed quadratic behavior, and by observation of equations can be obtained inclusions of 25% the V and Vf1 obtained maximum values of 174.7 and 237.8 ml gas / g DM, respectively. The potential degradability (PD) and effective degradability (ED) of dry matter showed quadratic behavior and by observation of equations can be perceive that up to 18.0% there was an increase in the values of PD and ED that obtained maximum values of 93.7% and 55.7%, respectively. The replacement of SBM by DCBM from 15 to 30% increased the kinetics of gas production and rumen degradation
