Software implementation of the 3D-simulation procedure of SHS macrokinetics in the Ni-Al porous model medium with the closest packing of “mesocells”

    Get PDF
The methodological features of the procedure for modeling the SHS macrokinetics in the model "etalon" structure of the densest packing of the so-called “mesocells” in the form of balls of the same radius are considered. In the center of the mesocell there is a spherical Ni particle (radius RNi = 30 μm), around which aluminum particles of radius RAl = 10 μm are contained in a spherical interlayer with a thickness of 20 μm. The etalon structure is formed by a program that takes into account the distribution of mesocells in the structure of the closest packing (alternating flat layers with square symmetry). A technique for numerical solution of the heat conduction equation using an implicit scheme of bicyclic splitting based on the symmetric Krank-Nicholson scheme is implemented. Together with the bicyclic splitting scheme, a procedure is implemented for numerically solving the diffusion kinetics equation in mesocells. For computational speedup, the parallelization schemes of cycles are used, which determine the main time costs for performing "runs" in grid computing schemes. The reported study was funded by RFBR according to the research projects No. 18-41-220004 and No. 18-08-01475

Measurement of Z0 decays to hadrons, and a precise determination of the number of neutrino species

We have made a precise measurement of the cross section for e+e--->Z0-->hadrons with the L3 detector at LEP, covering the range from 88.28 to 95.04 GeV. From a fit to the Z0 mass, total width, and the hadronic cross section to be MZ0=91.160 +/- 0.024 (experiment) +/-0.030(LEP) GeV, [Gamma]Z0=2.539+/-0.054 GeV, and [sigma]h(MZ0)=29.5+/-0.7 nb. We also used the fit to the Z0 peak cross section and the width todetermine [Gamma]invisible=0.548+/-0.029 GeV, which corresponds to 3.29+/-0.17 species of light neutrinos. The possibility of four or more neutrino flavors is thus ruled out at the 4[sigma] confidence level.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/28683/3/0000500.pd

A measurement of the Z0 leptonic partial widths and the vector and axial vector coupling constants

We have measured the partial widths of the Z0 into lepton pairs, and the forward-backward charge asymmetry for the process e+e--->[mu]+[mu]- using the L3 detector at LEP. We obtain an average [Gamma]ll of 83.0+/-2.1+/-1.1 MeV.From this result and the asymmetry measurement, we extract the values of the vector and axial vector couplings of the Z0 to leptons: grmv=-0.066-0.027+0.046 and grmA= -0.495-0.007+0.007.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/28666/3/0000483.pd

Formation and destruction of nitric oxide in methane flames doped with NO at atmospheric pressure

    No full text
A study of formation and destruction of NO in adiabatic laminar premixed flames of CH4 + O2 mixtures diluted with N2 or Ar (with various dilution ratios) in a range of equivalence ratios at atmospheric pressure is presented. Nitric oxide was seeded into the flames using mixtures of diluent gas + 100 ppm of NO. The heat flux method was employed to measure adiabatic burning velocities of these flames. Nitric oxide concentrations in the post-flame zone at 10, 15 and 20 mm above the burner surface were measured using probe sampling. Burning velocities and NO concentrations simulated using a previously developed chemical kinetic mechanism were compared with the experimental results. The conversion ratio of NO seeded into the flames was determined. The kinetic mechanism accurately predicts burning velocities over the range of equivalence ratios and NO conversion in the rich flames. Significant discrepancies between measured and calculated NO conversion in the lean and near-stoichiometric flames were observed and discussed
