    Effect of rhenium on the structure and properties of the weld metal of a molybdenum alloy

    The structure and properties of welds made in molybdenum alloy VM-1 as a function of rhenium concentrations in the weld metal were studied. Rhenium was introduced into the weld using rhenium wire and tape or wires of Mo-47Re and Mo-52Re alloys. The properties of the weld metal were studied by means of metallographic techniques, electron microscopy, X-ray analysis, and autoradiography. The plasticity of the weld metal sharply was found to increase with increasing concentration of rhenium up to 50%. During welding, a decarburization process was observed which was more pronounced at higher concentrations of rhenium

    Mapping of the immunodominant regions of the NAD-dependent formate dehydrogenase

    AbstractA panel of 4 monoclonal antibodies and 7 polyclonal antisera against NAD-dependent formate dehydrogenase from methylotrophic bacterium Pseudomonas sp. 101 has been obtained. The reactivity of the 37 overlapping proteolytic peptides with the monoclonal antibodies and polyclonal antisera has been studied with ELISA test. The data obtained were interpreted residing on the structural model of the formate dehydrogenase at 3 Å resolution. The immunodominant regions in the formate dehydrogenase molecule and the epitopes for the monoclonal antibodies were elucidated

    Робота присвячена системам підтримки прийняття рішень, побудованим на основі методу аналізу ієрархій. Даний підхід використовується для підтримки прийняття рішення щодо вибору інтегрального середовища розробки програмного забезпечення. Відповідно в якості предмету дослідження обрано саме процес вибору інтегрованого середовища розробки; об’єктом виступає сама СППР. Для побудови такої системи визначено приклад декомпозиції проблеми на її складові частини і побудови відповідної ієрархії. На основі експертних оцінок здійснюється попарне порівняння визначених критерії вибору альтернативних варіантів рішення відносно поставленої проблеми, а також попарне порівняння самих альтернативних варіантів відносно критеріїв вибору. Всі результати порівняння приводяться до числових величин, які в подальшому використовуються для побудови рейтингів альтернативних варіантів вибору. На основі таких рейтингій здійснюється рішення щодо вибору певної альтернативи.The article is devoted to decision-making systems which are built using hierarchy analysis method. This approach is used for decision-making about choosing integrated software development environment. Respectively a process of integrated software development environment choosing is taken as a research subject and the DSS appears to be an object. For building such a system an example of problem decomposition to its’ parts an building appropriate hierarchy is supplied. On the basis of expert meanings a pairwise comparison of certain criteria of decision relatively to the problem and also a pairwise comparison of alternatives themselves relatively to these criteria is performed. All the results of such comparison are transformed to numbers by a determined algorithm, which continue to be used for estimating ratings of alternative decision variants.     Abstract. The effect of cytokine preparations (Interleukin-2/IL-2/Proleukin and interferon-alpha/IFN-α 2b/ Intron A) on immune cell subpopulations has been studied in the children suffering with advanced malignancies during intensive chemotherapy cycles combined with whole body hyperthermia (thermochemotherapy). It was shown that IFN-α 2b promotes recovery of peripheral lymphocyte counts in the patients. However, no sufficient changes were observed for the lymphocyte subpopulations. Furthermore, more profound lymphopenia along with increased contents of activated (CD25+, HLA-DR+) T cells occurs in a group of children treated with IL-2, as compared to the patients who received IFN-α 2b. Besides that, some differential effects upon the CD4+/CD8+ T-cell ratios were observed in the patients treated with Proleukin or Intron A, with a tendency to increase in CD4+ T-cells for the patients treated with IL-2. It was concluded that differential immunomodulatory mechanisms mediate the effects of IL-2 and IFN-α 2b in the patients with malignancies undergoing combined chemobiotherapy with whole-body hyperthermia

Вернадского», Симферополь3   Резюме Цель данного исследования – исследование следующего ряда маркеров выбора: малонового диальдегида, каталазы, супероксиддисмутазы, ассиметрического диметиларгинина, L-аргинина, нитрозатиолов, суммы эндогенных нитратов и нитритов. Результаты: 1. Хроническая нитратная интоксикация приводит к развитию окислительного стресса, о чем свидетельствуют  резкое повышение уровне малонового диальдегида при недостаточной активации супероксиддисмутазы и каталазы, которые являются ферментами антиоксидантной защиты. 2. Значительно снижена продукция оксида азота, о чем свидетельствует уменьшение содержания нитрозатиолов и суммы нитратов и нитритов. В группе с применением L-аргинина отмечается субкомпенсация уровня нитрозотиолов и суммы эндогенных нитратов и нитритов. Снижение уровня отмечается, но менее выражено. 3. Отмечается увеличение уровня ассиметричного диметиларгинина, что является следствием влияния окислительного стресса и еще одним фактором, подтверждающим возникновение эндотелиальной дисфункции на фоне хронической нитратной нагрузки. 4. Выявлена взаимосвязь между уровнями АДМА, индуцибельной NO-cинтазы и L-аргинина. 5. Подтверждается ранее выявленное нами защитное воздействие L-аргинина на сосуды при хроническом нитратном воздействии.   Ключевые слова: эндотелиальная дисфункция, нитратная нагрузка, L-аргинин.   DYNAMICS endothelial dysfunction nitrate UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF LOAD   1I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University, Simferopol3   Summary The purpose of this research was to study the next series of markers of choice: malondialdehyde, catalase, superoxide dismutase, asymmetric dimethylarginine, L-arginine, nitrosothiols, the complex of endogenous nitrates and nitrites. Results: 1. The chronic nitrate intoxication leads to the development of oxidative stress, as evidenced by a sharp increase in the level of malondialdehyde in case of insufficient activation of superoxide dismutase and catalase, which are antioxidant enzymes. 2. Greatly reduced production of nitric oxide, as demonstrated by decrease in amount nitrosothiols and nitrates and nitrites. In the group using L-arginine levels observed endogenous subcompensation of nitrosothiols, nitrates and nitrites. The decrease was noted, but less expressed. 3. The increase levels of asymmetric dimethylarginine were noted, which is a result of oxidative stress and is another factor confirming the endothelial dysfunction in chronic nitrate load. 4. The correlation between the levels of ADMA, inducible NO-cintazy and L-arginine was revealed. 5. The earlier determined protective effect of L-arginine on blood vessels in chronic nitrate exposure was confirmed.   Key words: endothelial dysfunction, nitrate load, L-arginine

    Diffusion-driven device for a high-resolution dose-response profiling of combination chemotherapy.

However, the identification and optimization of such combination therapies is largely experience driven and an activity of clinicians rather than of systematic screening efforts. Here we present a diffusion device, compatible with the format of a 12-well microtiter plate, to create and test all possible mixtures of two substances with only two pipetting steps. Applications to the testing of different drug combinations and the parallel screening of different leukemia cell lines as well as primary patient cells are presented. The diffusion device yields qualitatively and quantitatively comparable results to an MTT viability assay conducted in a standard 96-well format albeit with a tremendous reduction of processing steps. In addition, a fluorescence-based annexin V binding assay of cell death was implemented. Next to the reduction of processing steps, the diffusion device constitutes a considerable assay miniaturization that overcomes the problems typically associated with miniaturization as a consequence of small sample volumes. Given its ease of handling, the device will greatly advance the development and optimization of combination drugs and the identification of optimum drug combinations in personalized medicine
