The nexus of soil radon and hydrogen dynamics and seismicity of the northern flank of the Kuril-Kamchatka subduction zone

The comparison of kinematics and dynamic parameters of radon and molecular hydrogen concentration in subsoil air on the stations network at the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky geodynamic proving ground with seismicity of the northern flank of the Kuril-Kamchatka subduction zone was fulfilled in the period from July till August 2004. On the basis of correlation analysis of the regional seismicity and variations of radon flux density calculated using the data of gas-discharge counters of STS-6 type and SSNTDs it was shown that the radon mass transfer abnormal variations are conditioned by both regional seismicity in total and the subduction zone of proving ground. The azimuths of «geodeformation waves» coming to the registration points are calculated during clearly expressed anomaly beginnings, which coincide with directions to earthquake epicenters taking place at the same time. The geochemical anomalies recorded are presumptively deformative by nature and can be conditioned by processes of «quasi-viscous» flow of the lithosphere during rearrangement of tectonic stress fields of the subduction zone. The short-term (predicted time Τ <14 days) precursor of the earthquakes swarm was revealed in hydrogen dynamics on August, 4-5 (four earthquakes had M≥5.3 and epicentral distance about 130 km from the Paratunka base station)

Grain-structure development in heavily cold-rolled alpha-titanium

High-resolution electron back-scatter diffraction (EBSD) analysis was employed to establish mircostructure evolution in heavily cold-rolled alpha-titanium. After thickness reductions of 75% to 96%, significant microstructure and texture changes were documented. The surface area of high-angle grain boundaries was almost tripled, thus giving rise to an ultra-fine microstructure with a mean grain size of 0.6 μm. Moreover, orientation spread around typical ‘split-basal’ rolling texture substantially increased. These effects were suggested to be related to the enhancement of pyramidal 〈c+a〉 slip. Three very young HgMn stars in the Orion OB1 Association

We report the detection of three mercury-manganese stars in the Orion OB1 association. HD 37886 and BD-0 984 are in the approximately 1.7 million year old Orion OB1b. HD 37492 is in the approximately 4.6 million year old Orion OB1c. Orion OB1b is now the youngest cluster with known HgMn star members. This places an observational upper limit on the time scale needed to produce the chemical peculiarities seen in mercury-manganese stars, which should help in the search for the cause or causes of the peculiar abundances in HgMn and other chemically peculiar upper main sequence stars.Comment: 8 pages including 1 figure. Unmanned aerial vehicles: potential for use in the storage systems of industrial companies

In the article, the authors investigate the problem of using unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) in company warehouses and consider their use as one of the ways to optimize the logistics business processes of companies. Technologies are considered, on the basis of which modern unmanned aerial vehicles, drone models of various companies, the main functionality of drone’s work. The authors high-light the strengths and weaknesses of unmanned aerial vehicles, key factors determining the success of the use of drones, and favorable conditions for their use in warehouses. The authors are considering the possibility of sharing drones and RFID technology. Barriers to the active introduction of drones into the logistics business processes of warehousing systems and requirements for warehouse complexes planning the use of unmanned aerial objects have been identified. Promising areas of application of technology in warehouse logistics are also considered: creation of anti-theft and fire protection systems, using drones to read CIS marks. Effect of Choline Forms and Gut Microbiota Composition on Trimethylamine-N-Oxide Response in Healthy Men

Background: Trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO), a choline-derived gut microbiota-dependent metabolite, is a newly recognized risk marker for cardiovascular disease. We sought to determine: (1) TMAO response to meals containing free versus lipid-soluble choline and (2) effects of gut microbiome on TMAO response. Methods: In a randomized, controlled, double-blinded, crossover study, healthy men (n = 37) were provided meals containing 600 mg choline either as choline bitartrate or phosphatidylcholine, or no choline control. Results: Choline bitartrate yielded three-times greater plasma TMAO AUC (p = 0.01) and 2.5-times greater urinary TMAO change from baseline (p = 0.01) compared to no choline and phosphatidylcholine. Gut microbiota composition differed (permutational multivariate analysis of variance, PERMANOVA; p = 0.01) between high-TMAO producers (with ≥40% increase in urinary TMAO response to choline bitartrate) and low-TMAO producers (with \u3c40% increase in TMAO response). High-TMAO producers had more abundant lineages of Clostridium from Ruminococcaceae and Lachnospiraceae compared to low-TMAO producers (analysis of composition of microbiomes, ANCOM; p \u3c 0.05). Conclusion: Given that phosphatidylcholine is the major form of choline in food, the absence of TMAO elevation with phosphatidylcholine counters arguments that phosphatidylcholine should be avoided due to TMAO-producing characteristics. Clinical case of de novo anaplastic ganglioglioma and current status of the problem

The authors report a rare case of de novo malignant ganglioglioma (WHO grade III) in a 26-year old female. The patient has complained of periodic feeling fear, anxiety, episodes of impaired consciousness with extremity muscle cramps sometimes followed by urination, as well as flashes before eyes. Computed tomography perfusion and magnetic resonance spectroscopy were carried out for differential diagnosis between different types of tumors. Stereotactic biopsy was performed for histological examination. High surgical risk became a contraindication to gross total resection of the tumor. The patient has received radiation therapy (Trilogy linear accelerator) in a total dose of 60 Gy. The tumor shrank significantly. In 7 months, monitoring MRT did not detect further growth of the tumor. The authors have analyzed the case and reviewed the existing literature data regarding gangliogliomas. Taking into account low prevalence of these tumors (0.4-1% of all brain tumors), especially of their malignant forms (3-10% of gangliogliomas), lack of sufficient data regarding prognostic factors, life expectancy, time of recurrence, lack of accurate indications for different methods of treatment (surgery, radiation, chemotherapy), these tumors still need further research that should also involve supplementary neuroimaging techniques and stereotactic biopsy

The article outlines economic fundamentals, statistical and methodological framework and technical capabilities of the implemented information-analytical system «Promotion of goods of the Republic of Tatarstan in foreign markets». The authors introduce analytical tools to investigate the nature of trade relations between the regions of Russia, CIS and foreign countries, identify trends in the development of relations and suggest possible options for the development of trade. The information-analytical system is intended for use by the executive authorities of the Republic of Tatarstan and other regions of the Russian Federation. Goods produced by manufacturers of the Republic of Tatarstan, including food and non-food products, are subject to the monitoring. The foundation for the system is information base generated within the framework of the federal, departmental and customs statistics, as well as during implementation of the intergovernmental agreements of the Republic of Tatarstan. Analytical tools are designed according to availability of information on the import and export of goods, production volume and dynamics, market prices and producer prices, etc. The system provides the possibility of component-wise analysis, the selection of product groups, indicators, territories and periods. Data on the level of utilization of production capacities is used during the analysis, which allows predicting the possibility of production expanding in the case of increasing demand for the product or determining new markets. Information-analytical system allows creating dynamic information boards that contain interactive graphs and charts, gives the opportunity to visualize the data on production and sales of goods in order to identify the prospects of introducing the goods produced by manufacturers of the Republic of Tatarstan in regional and international markets. The system has a friendly interface, provides visualization of output and intermediate data, automated updating, operational interactive mode, extensible user state.В статье характеризуются экономические и статистико-методологические основы, а также технические возможности внедряемой информационно-аналитической системы «Продвижение товаров Республики Татарстан на внешние рынки». Представлены аналитические инструменты, позволяющие исследовать характер торговых связей между регионами России, странами СНГ и дальнего зарубежья, определять тенденции развития отношений и возможные варианты развития торговли. Система предназначена для использования органами исполнительной власти Республики Татарстан и другихрегионов Российской Федерации. Объектом мониторинга является продукция татарстанских производителей, в том числе продовольственные и непродовольственные товары. Работа Системы основана на информационной базе, формируемой как в рамках федеральной, ведомственной и таможенной статистики, так и в ходе реализации межправительственных соглашений Республики Татарстан.
