Nonlinear polaritons in Bose-Einstein condensates in optical lattices

We study the interaction of a Bose-Einstein condensate in an optical lattice with additional electromagnetic fields under Raman resonance condition. System of evolution equations describing ultra-short optical pulse propagation and photo-induced transport of cold atoms in optical lattice is derived. The steady state solution of these equations was found. There are new kinds of polaritonic solitary waves propagating.Comment: pdf-file, Reported on "IX International Readings on Quantum Optics", 12-17 October, St-Peterburg, Russi

Solitary electromagnetic waves propagation in the asymmetric oppositely-directed coupler

We consider the electromagnetic waves propagating in the system of coupled waveguides. One of the system components is a standard waveguide fabricated from nonlinear medium having positive refraction and another component is a waveguide produced from an artificial material having negative refraction. The metamaterial constituting the second waveguide has linear characteristics and a wave propagating in the waveguide of this type propagates in the direction opposite to direction of energy flux. It is found that the coupled nonlinear solitary waves propagating both in the same direction are exist in this oppositely-directed coupler due to linear coupling between nonlinear positive refractive waveguide and linear negative refractive waveguide. The corresponding analytical solution is found and it is used for numerical simulation to illustrate that the results of the solitary wave collisions are sensible to the relative velocity of the colliding solitary waves.Comment: 9 pages,5 figure

Propagation and interaction of ultrashort electromagnetic pulses in nonlinear media with a quadratic-cubic nonlinearity

Propagation of extremely short unipolar pulses of electromagnetic field ("videopulses") is considered in the framework of a model in which the material medium is represented by anharmonic oscillators (approximating bound electrons) with quadratic and cubic nonlinearities. Two families of exact analytical solutions (with positive or negative polarity) are found for the moving solitary pulses. Direct simulations demonstrate that the pulses are very robust against perturbations. Two unipolar pulses collide nearly elastically, while collisions between pulses with opposite polarities and a small relative velocity are inelastic, leading to emission of radiation and generation of a small-amplitude additional pulse.Comment: 12 pages, 10 figure

Chemistry for engineering education

We will look at the practical implementation of the disciplines of chemistry intechnological orientation programs. It is shown that with the uniformrequirements of the GEF to the quality of training, volumes for disciplines ofchemistry differ significantly. These shortcomings inherent in the existingteaching methods and ways to improve the learning process are discussed. Notedthat the promising direction of the basic educational program is to build themin a modular fashion.

The problem of planning of professional life is discussed by experts in the field of art and culture, experience of application of active forms of education with use of presentation during psychology and pedagogical lessons is described in the article, aspects of efficiency of their realization in training of students of higher education institution are considered, possibilities of application of modern means of presentation in the course of professional formation of future specialist producer are revealed. Problems of design of a professional way of a personality in the context of modern social and economic conditions are complicated by unstable conditions, characterized by social, economic and political changes, prompt transformations in the sphere of values and purposes of personality that predetermines essentially new requirements to psychological structure of the personality which would provide the most effective self-realization and success in professional activity. That means that actual tendencies of process of vocational training of future experts in the sphere of art are ways of application of means of modern technologies in the course of training. We believe that use of active forms of education with use of presentation, and also analysis of perceived phenomena by students will form readiness of future experts of the sphere of art and culture for design of own professional future.peer-reviewe

Aim. To analyze the role of perceived social support and effortful control in the psychological well-being of juvenile delinquents and adolescents in difficult life situations. Methodology. In the course of empirical research based on a sample of 82 male adolescents from 11 to 17 years old, diagnostics were carried out using the scale of perceived social support MSPSS by D. Zimet, the scale for studying effortful control in adolescence by T.O. Rippinen, Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) by B.P. White, and the multidimensional students’ life satisfaction scale (MSLSS). In the course of processing the results, correlation and regression analysis were used. Results. It is demonstrated that school well-being depends only on effortful control, while self-satisfaction, satisfaction with relationships in the family and with friends depends on perceived social support and v effortful control. In the course of controlling perceived support and effortful control the contribution of perceived stress to well-being becomes insignificant, which indicates the likely importance of these resources for coping with stress and reducing its impact on well-being. Research implications. The study clarifies theoretical ideas about the role of perceived social support and effortful control based on a special sample of adolescents, as well as confirms the conclusion that is important for practice about the decisive role of voluntary regulation in school well-being.</html
