May-Thurner syndrome (MTS) is a rare disease common in middle aged females, characterised by left-sided lower limb Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) due to compression of the left iliac vein by the overriding right iliac artery. Pregnancy and puerperal phases are one of the hypercoagulable states further predisposing towards thrombus formation. Treatment includes both conservative and interventional (venous thrombectomy with or without stenting). Here we report a case of a 34- year-old female in her early postpartum period who visited the Agha Khan University Hospital in July 2016, with the onset of acute pain and swelling in the left leg. Her workup revealed left-sided Acute DVT, secondary to MTS. Her case was successfully managed with conservative treatment. This case is an important addition to medical literature in the sense that DVT occurring on the onset of postpartum period should not always be attributed to the hypercoagulability, secondary to pregnancy. With early diagnosis and aggressive m a na g em ent, M TS ca n be e a s il y m a n age

Despite recent national emphasis, outpatient hand washing can be less than optimal. We tested a new approach involving both patient and physician hand washing. The study consisted of 384 questionnaires, 184 from phase 1 and 200 from phase 2. Patients stated doctors washed their hands 96.6% before examining them pre-intervention and 99.5% of the time post-intervention. Patients endorsed the importance of hand washing 98.7% of the time. “Co-washing” may offer a process to increase the practice of hand washing and decrease infection risk

Background: Wound treatment still a task for medical professionals, according to the time advancement. We need to elaborate further new interventions to cope up this common factor of community. The objective of the study was to assess the anti-inflammatory topical role of Lactobacillus acidophilus with antibiotic in wound repair of rats based on of microscopic parameters. This comparative study was conducted in the Department of Anatomy Al-Tibri Medical Collage and Hospital Isra University Karachi Campus from December 2018 to April 2019.Methods: Total 18 male of wistar rats were randomly selected for this study. The study comprised of three topical groups Control, Antibiotic and Lactobacillus acidophilus groups respectively. Results: The samples were taken from the wound site for the preparation of microscopic slides, to count the numbers of neutrophils, lymphocytes and macrophages for the evaluation of anti-inflammatory process in both groups on day 3 and 7. Data obtained were analyzed by SPSS version 20 by applying One Way ANOVA and post hoc Tukey’s test. Conclusions: The results were shown potent anti-inflammatory effects of Lactobacillus acidophilus group in comparison with other conventional therapy. The study concludes that the topical application of Lactobacillus acidophilus had remarkable anti-inflammatory effects in wound management

Background: The use of natural polymers as excipients in the pharmaceutical sector is expanding day by day. Low cost, safety issues, availability, and biodegradability are the main causes that make them differ from other sources. Natural sources have a wide range of varieties and characteristics. So, they can be used numerous times in pharmaceutical products as excipients to serve the desired purposes.  Aim:  To extract and evaluate the natural polymeric substances that can be used as excipients in pharmaceuticals from fenugreek seeds by using solvent extraction method. Methods: Trigonella foenum-graceum fenugreek mucilage is drive from the endosperm of the seeds it consists of galactose and mannose of it gives high viscosity in aqueous solution the fenugreek seeds used for thickening, stabilizing and emulsifying food agent. In this procedure we use grapefruit juice to treat with extract mucilage from fenugreek seeds which enhance its stability and bioavailability. Grapefruit juice increases the bioavailability of some orally administered drugs that are metabolized by CYP3A4 and normally undergo extensive presystemic extraction. Results: In addition, grapefruit juice it can decrease the oral absorption of a few drugs that rely on organic anion transporting polypeptide in the gastrointestinal tract for their uptake. The number of drugs shown to interact with grapefruit juice in vitro is far greater than the number of clinically relevant grapefruit juice drug interactions
