PE IN CLIL Resources I. Grammar structures

    Get PDF
The project we are presenting has been designed for the Teaching physical education in English using CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) methodology ICE group. The group is composed of a researcher and teachers of Physical education in CLIL that wanted to expand the resources in this area considering there are not enough. This group works together to create better materials for PE teachers that teach using the CLIL methodology. We've started from the very base after considering the needs of everyone in order to move forward with more quality materials. The effort and motivation all of them put in is reflected in this project. The first part of this project is about grammar structures, we've analyzed the different grammar structures for the six grades/levels of primary school, and we've created a guide so teachers can follow and get some ideas from it. Presented in this document is first the content related to every grade gathering parts like verbs, prepositions, adjectives and question words and it has been chosen from the teachers according to the curriculum they are teaching in their schools. Following this are examples related to this content that have been created by us in various meetings throughout the year. In the examples portion we've tried to apply physical education content so it could facilitate their use

Pancreatitis after percutaneous ethanol injection into HCC: a minireview of the literature

    Get PDF
Deaths after percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI) into hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) may occur within a few hours to a few days following the procedure because of hemoperitoneum and haemorrhage from oesophageal varices or hepatic insufficiency. Pancreatitis has been recently reported as a rare lethal complication of intra-arterial PEI, another modality for treating HCCs. In this minireview, we analyze the literature concerning the development of acute pancreatitis after PEI. Pathogenesis of pancreatitis from opioids and ethanol is also addressed. Treatment with opioids to reduce the patient's abdominal pain after PEI in combination with the PEI itself may lead to direct toxic effects, thus favouring the development of pancreatitis

The growth of Bi2Te3 topological insulator films: Physical vapor transport vs molecular beam epitaxy

    No full text
Bi2Te3 topological insulator thin films have been obtained by several techniques. For future applications in spintronics or quantum computing high quality homogenous films with few defects and impurities are required. Molecular beam epitaxy has been widely used for the growth of these materials, however, this technique operates in ultra-high vacuum conditions which significantly increases its cost. In this work, the use of the physical vapor transport technique is explored as a low cost alternative. A comparison of samples obtained by both methods allowed to conclude that they do not have significant differences regarding the structural and morphological properties in spite of the film thickness difference. Moreover, ARPES measurements indicate bulk insulating behavior with Dirac-like, conducting surface states for all samples. This demonstrates the feasibility of the physical vapor transport technique as a simpler and cost-effective alternative to molecular beam epitaxy, for the growth of Bi2Te3. © 2019 Elsevier Lt

Interfacial strain defines the self-organization of epitaxial MoO2 flakes and porous films on sapphire: experiments and modelling

The epitaxy of MoO2 on c-plane sapphire substrates is examined. A theoretical approach, based on density functional theory calculations of the strain energy, allowed to predict the preferred layer/substrate epitaxial relationships. To test the results of these calculations, MoO2/(0 0 1) Al2O3 heterostructures were grown using the chemically-driven isothermal close space vapour transport technique. At the early stages of the growth, two kinds of morphologies were obtained, using the same growth parameters: lying and standing flakes. The composition and morphology, as well as the layer/substrate epitaxial relationships were determined for both kind of morphologies. Experimental epitaxial relationships coincide with those predicted by DFT calculation as the most favourable ones in terms of strain energy. For thicker films, the standing flakes evolve to form an epitaxial porous layer composed by coalesced epitaxial flakes. The interfacial strain between the sapphire substrate and MoO2 enables a self-organization from nanometer to micron scales between separated or coalesced flakes, depending on deposition conditionOdM, OC, DH and YG gratefully acknowledge the support from the program ‘‘Cátedras de Excelencia de la Comunidad de Madrid (2016- T3/IND-1428)

Estructura comunitaria de corales zooxantelados (Anthozoa: Scleractinia) en el arrecife coralino de Carrizales, Pacfico Mexicano

    No full text
