    Microtyphlus fideli n. sp. is now described from the Latonero cave, Castellote, Teruel, Spain. It belongs to the M. schaurni(Saulcy, 1863) species group owing to the morphological characters of the mentum. It could easily be distinguished from M. schaurni (Saulcy, 1863) and M. torressalai Coiffait, 1958, by the morphology of elytra and aedeagus, and from M. ganglbaueriBreit, 1908 and M. guadarrarnus Ehlers, 1883, by the unarmed rneso- and metafemur in the male and the structure of male genitalia.     Quantum simulation of an extra dimension

    We present a general strategy to simulate a D+1-dimensional quantum system using a D-dimensional one. We analyze in detail a feasible implementation of our scheme using optical lattice technology. The simplest non-trivial realization of a fourth dimension corresponds to the creation of a bivolume geometry. En la granja El Portal ubicada en el municipio de Rivera departamento del Huila a una altura de 700 m.s.n.m. y una temperatura promedio de 28 ?C; un total de 21.517 aves Isa Brown de 43 semanas de vida ingresaron a la evaluaci?n. Las aves fueron distribuidas en dos tratamientos bajo un sistema de producci?n convencional en piso. En el tratamiento 1 (grupo control) las aves recibieron alimento tradicional; un total de 11.259 aves fueron destinadas para este tratamiento. Para el tratamiento 2 las aves recibieron el mismo tipo de alimento del tratamiento 1 m?s la suplementaci?n ?On Top? del Producto BIG EGG? a dosis de 2 Kg/Ton de alimento; para este tratamiento fueron destinadas un total de 10.258 aves. El periodo total de evaluaci?n fue de 10 semanas y las variables analizadas fueron consumo de alimento (g/ave/d?a), producci?n de huevo (%), peso corporal (g), peso promedio del huevo (g) y masa de huevo (g). La inclusi?n del producto BIG EGG? permiti? mejorar los par?metros productivos de ponedoras comerciales con un nivel de significancia estad?stica de (p<0.05) frente al alimento tradicional que no incluye este aditivo. Los costos de producci?n reflejaron la eficiencia productiva y el efecto positivo de BIG EGG? sobre el tama?o de huevo y porcentaje de producci?n, lo que significa una mayor rentabilidad en el proceso productivo.ABSTRACT. This study was designed to evaluate the effect of inclusion of the product BIG EGG ? on the performance of commercial layers. On the farm El Portal located in the municipality of Rivera in Huila at a height of 700 m above sea level and an average temperature of 28 ? C, a total of 21,517 Isa Brown hens of 43 weeks of age entered the evaluation. Hens were distributed in two treatments under a conventional production floor. In treatment 1 (control group) the birds received traditional food, a total of 11,259 hens were intended for this treatment. For treatment 2, birds received the same type of food as treatment 1 plus ?On Top? BIG EGG ? at a dose of 2 kg /Ton of food; for this treatment were assigned a total of 10,258 hens. The total testing period was 10 weeks and the variables studied were food intake (g / bird / day), egg production (%), body weight (g), average egg weight (g) and egg mass (gr). The Inclusion of the product BIG EGG ? led to improve productive performance of commercial layers with a level of statistical significance (p<0.05) compared with traditional food that does not include this additive. Production costs reflected efficiency and a positive effect of BIG EGG ? on egg size and production rate, which means greater profitability in the production process

    Novel Brain Complexity Measures Based on Information Theory

    Brain networks are widely used models to understand the topology and organization of the brain. These networks can be represented by a graph, where nodes correspond to brain regions and edges to structural or functional connections. Several measures have been proposed to describe the topological features of these networks, but unfortunately, it is still unclear which measures give the best representation of the brain. In this paper, we propose a new set of measures based on information theory. Our approach interprets the brain network as a stochastic process where impulses are modeled as a random walk on the graph nodes. This new interpretation provides a solid theoretical framework from which several global and local measures are derived. Global measures provide quantitative values for the whole brain network characterization and include entropy, mutual information, and erasure mutual information. The latter is a new measure based on mutual information and erasure entropy. On the other hand, local measures are based on different decompositions of the global measures and provide different properties of the nodes. Local measures include entropic surprise, mutual surprise, mutual predictability, and erasure surprise. The proposed approach is evaluated using synthetic model networks and structural and functional human networks at different scales. Results demonstrate that the global measures can characterize new properties of the topology of a brain network and, in addition, for a given number of nodes, an optimal number of edges is found for small-world networks. Local measures show different properties of the nodes such as the uncertainty associated to the node, or the uniqueness of the path that the node belongs. Finally, the consistency of the results across healthy subjects demonstrates the robustness of the proposed measures

    Simulation of gauge transformations on systems of ultracold atoms

    We show that gauge transformations can be simulated on systems of ultracold atoms. We discuss observables that are invariant under these gauge transformations and compute them using a tensor network ansatz that escapes the phase problem. We determine that the Mott-insulator-to-superfluid critical point is monotonically shifted as the induced magnetic flux increases. This result is stable against the inclusion of a small amount of entanglement in the variational ansatz.Comment: 14 pages, 6 figure
