Anomalous Rotational Relaxation: A Fractional Fokker-Planck Equation Approach

In this study we obtained analytically relaxation function in terms of rotational correlation functions based on Brownian motion for complex disordered systems in a stochastic framework. We found out that rotational relaxation function has a fractional form for complex disordered systems, which indicates relaxation has non-exponential character obeys to Kohlrausch-William-Watts law, following the Mittag-Leffler decay.Comment: Revtex4, 9 pages. Femoral nerve compression secondary to a ganglion cyst arising from a hip joint: a case report and review of the literature

    Get PDF
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Introduction</p> <p>Femoral nerve compression due to a cystic lesion around the hip joint is rare and only a few cases have been described in the literature. Among these, true ganglion cysts are even more rare.</p> <p>Case presentation</p> <p>We report the case of a 57-year-old woman with femoral nerve compression caused by a true ganglion cyst of the hip joint.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>A high index of suspicion is required to predict a non-palpable cystic lesion around the hip joint as it may mimic different disorders and should be kept in mind in the differential diagnosis of unusual groin pain, radicular pain and peripheral vascular disorders.</p

ISRM International Symposium - EUROCK 2013 -- 23 October 2013 through 26 October 2013 -- -- 138846A grid compatible integration of fluctuating renewable energy from high capacity wind and solar energy farms to electricity systems requires large-scale energy storage methods and technologies. Currently widespread large-scale electricity storage installed is reservoir-based hydropower and Pumped Hydropower Energy Storage (PHES). Large storage volumes are necessary to deal with the relatively low volumetric storage density property of PHES plants. Investigations are made to benefit from the large volumetric storage potential of deep coal mine openings. Especially, main roadways of active and some closed hard coal mines are available and may be used as large lower reservoir volumetric storage openings for PHES plants. This paper address some basic rock engineering and stability issues associated with PHES projects in deep hard coal mines. Evaluations are made for safe and effective usage of the underground coal mine openings as PHES lower reservoir storage volumes. © 2013 Taylor & Francis Group, London

School board policies on prevention and management of anaphylaxis in İstanbul: Where do we stand?

Aims: This study was carried out to identify the current status of prevention and management of anaphylaxis in school children with the main goal of establishing such an action plan. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Schools were randomly selected from 11 different regions of Istanbul. A questionnaire was filled out by 2596 teachers/school principals from 232 public schools. Results: A school safety committee was absent in 80% of elementary schools (ES) and 60.8% of preschools (PS). Although some form of health recording system was available in many schools, no such system was available in 24.5% of ESs and 10% of PSs. A specific inquiry for detecting children with food allergies was a routine practice in only 4% of ES and 10% of PS. Approximately 27% of teachers stated that monitoring children in school places was not possible at all times. Eighty four percent stated that no written anaphylaxis treatment protocol was available in their school and only around 2.3% in ES and 3.1% in PS stated that they would perform an epinephrine injection in the event of anaphylaxis. Conclusion: Our survey demonstrated critical gaps in the organization of schools for the management of children at risk of anaphylaxis. Data derived from this study would provide the initiative for legislators to review the current situation of school health policies along with the relevant authorities to establish school anaphylaxis guidelines
