    Desarrollo de estación de monitoreo para la evaluación integral del desempeño de sistemas bipv usando instrumentación virtual.

    This paper reports on the development of a system, along with a description of the development of the associated equipment, for measuring the parameters characterizing the quality of electrical power generated by a grid-connected PV system. The determining of quality parameters such as normal voltage operating range, waveform distortion, frequency, voltage flicker and power factor was achieved through the implementation of Virtual Instruments (VI’s); using the graphic programming soft-ware LabVIEWTM. The system employed the developed VI’s integrated with a data acquisition card and one FieldPoint system from National Instruments. Testing revealed the developed system to be reliable and suitable for studies related to monitoring the electrical power supplied by a grid-connected PV system. Monitoring of the power supplied, by a grid-connected PV system, to a local grid during a time frame of one month, indicated that the developed system complied with all the specifications demanded for such systems by National and International standards.Este artículo presenta el desarrollo de un sistema, acompañado de la descripción del desarrollo del equipo utilizado para medir los parámetros que caracterizan la calidad de la potencia eléctrica generada por un sistema fotovoltaico interconectado a la red eléctrica (SFIR). La determinación de los parámetros de calidad de potencia tales como el rango de operación normal de tensión, la distorsión de la forma de onda, la frecuencia, el flicker de tensión y el factor de potencia se alcanzó mediante la implementación de Instrumentos Virtuales (VIs); usando el software de programación gráfica LabVIEWTM. El sistema emplea los VI’s desarrollados integrados con una tarjeta de adquisición de datos y un sistema FieldPoint de la compañía National Instruments. Las pruebas realizadas revelan que el sistema es confiable y apropiado para estudios relacionados con el monitoreo de la potencia eléctrica suministrada por sistemas FV’s interconectados. El monitoreo de la potencia suministrada por un sistema FV interconectado a la red eléctrica, se llevo a cabo durante un marco de tiempo de un mes, demostrando que el sistema implementado cumple con todas las especificaciones requeridas para tales fuentes de energía tanto por normas nacionales como internacionales

    DesignABILITY: Framework for the Design of Accessible Interactive Tools to Support Teaching to Children with Disabilities

    Developing educational tools aimed at children with disabilities is a challenging process for designers and developers because existing methodologies or frameworks do not provide any pedagogical information and/or do not take into account the particular needs of users with some type of impairment. In this study, we propose a framework for the design of tools to support teaching to children with disabilities. The framework provides the necessary stages for the development of tools (hardware-based or software-based) and must be adapted for a specific disability and educational goal. For this study, the framework was adapted to support literacy teaching and contributes to the design of educational/interactive technology for deaf people while making them part of the design process and taking into account their particular needs. The experts' evaluation of the framework shows that it is well structured and may be adapted for other types of disabilities

    Este artículo presenta un diseño para la caracterización de la señal ECG basado en “wavelets”, donde los coeficientes de caracterización no sólo posibiliten alcanzar factores considerables de compresión, sino que también se constituyan en la base para la clasificación de cardiopatías. Los datos para la evaluación del desempeño del sistema son tomados de la base de datos MIT-BIH. Se analizan los resultados del proceso de compresión a la luz de la medida de confiabilidad PRD, y de la tasa de compresión lograda; la inteligibilidad de la señal obtenida después del proceso de descompresión, se evalúa con el algoritmo de clasificación.     Expresión del receptor de andrógenos relativa al receptor de estrógenos (AR/ER) y su correlación con una señal génica de proliferación en cáncer de seno ER-positivo

    Objetivo: previamente se reportó que tumores de seno con proporción receptor de andrógenos/receptor de estrógenos ?2 (AR/ER ?2) se asocian con peores pronósticos. De acuerdo con lo anterior, el objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar la relación entre la proporción AR/ER y una señal génica de proliferación celular en cáncer de seno (CS; también conocido como cáncer de mama) ER positivo (ER+). Métodos: se obtuvieron 1093 muestras de CS primario con datos de expresión génica de la base de datos pública NCI Genomic Data Commons. Se ejecutaron análisis bioinformáticos para establecer niveles de expresión génica de AR y ER, así como de los marcadores de proliferación AURKb, BUB1B, BUB1, CDK1 y CHEK1. Adicionalmente, se definieron subtipos moleculares de CS utilizando el bioclasificador PAM50. Resultados: 835 casos se reportaron como ER+. Entre estos, 58 tumores (7%) presentaron mayores niveles de expresión de AR respecto a ER (AR/ER ?2). En dichos casos se observaron niveles significativamente más altos de proliferación con respecto a tumores, con proporción AR/ER <2 (p = 0,02), y preferencialmente se clasificaron dentro de los subtipos moleculares luminal B y HER2 enriquecido (76,5%). Conclusión: nuestros resultados confirman reportes previos y sugieren que los casos de CS con proporción AR/ER ?2 se asocian con tumores que tienen un comportamiento biológico más agresivo. Asimismo, se refuerza la idea de utilizar inhibidores de AR para el tratamiento de pacientes con CS ER+ que presentan altos niveles de expresión de este tipo de cánce

    Comparison of the enzymatic depolymerization of polyethylene terephthalate and AkestraTM using Humicola insolens cutinase

    The enzymatic depolymerization of synthetic polyesters has become of great interest in recycling plastics. Most of the research in this area focuses on the depolymerization of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) due to its widespread use in various applications. However, the enzymatic activity on other commercial polyesters is less frequently investigated. Therefore, AkestraTM attracted our attention, which is a copolymer derived from PET with a partially biobased spirocyclic acetal structure. In this study, the activity of Humicola insolens cutinase (HiCut) on PET and AkestraTM films and powder was investigated. HiCut showed higher depolymerization activity on amorphous PET films than on Akestra™ films. However, an outstanding performance was achieved on AkestraTM powder, reaching 38% depolymerization in 235h, while only 12% for PET powder. These results are consistent with the dependence of the enzymes on the crystallinity of the polymer since Akestra™ is amorphous while the PET powder has 14% crystallinity. On the other hand, HiCut docking studies and molecular dynamic simulations (MD) suggested that the PET-derived mono (hydroxyethyl)terephthalate dimer (MHET)2 is a hydrolyzable ligand, producing terephthalic acid (TPA), while the Akestra™-derived TPA-spiroglycol ester is not, which is consistent with the depolymerization products determined experimentally. MD studies also suggest ligand-induced local conformational changes in the active site

    SPATIAL REGRESSION MODEL OF URBAN WALKABILITY UNDER THE 15-MINUTE CITY APPROACH

    The 15-minute city aims to decentralize the urban economic poles to provide local services to its entire population. The objective of this research is to geographically determine the economic poles in an intermediate Latin American city and evaluate their geospatial coverage. This research develops a geographic accessibility model to analyze the spatio-temporal distribution of the economic poles, considering the socioeconomic stratum of households in Manizales (Colombia). Moreover, we apply a spatial regression model of pedestrian trips. Results show that proximity to urban economic poles is directly correlate with pedestrian trips. In Manizales, only 35.8% of the population reaches its closest economic pole within a 15-minute walk; moreover, accessibility inequities mainly affecting lower-income families were detected. The 15-minute city approach poses a high potential to contribute to urban spatial justice to the extent that urban planners facilitate the growth of economic activities and services in neighborhoods, with special attention to the less privileged

    Bioprospecting and characterization of poly-bhydroxyalkanoate (PHAs) producing bacteria isolated from Colombian sugarcane producing areas

    Bioprospecting for poly-b-hydroxyalkanoate (PHA)-accumulating micro-organisms was carried out in sugarcane growing areas of Colombia. They were isolated in unbalanced culture medium (highcarbon/nitrogen ratio) with sucrose, fructose and glucose used as carbon source. PHAs producing bacteria were identified by staining with Sudan black and solubilising cellular components in sodiumhypochlorite. A arbitrary scale was established (ranging from 1 to 4) for selecting the best strains, acording to growth, staining with Sudan black and solubilising cellular material. 108 isolates rated higher than 2 were obtained by using this scale; 44 of these were selected for evaluating them in a balloon flask for their ability to grow in sucrose. Scheffe’s test grouped the isolates evaluated in the balloon flask for polymer production and productivity. The 6 best isolates were evaluated in a fermenter to determine their kinetic growth profiles, substrate consumption and polymer accumulation. Differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) was used on the recovered polymer for determining fusion temperature and the conclusion was reached that 2 strains accumulated poly--hydroxybutyrate (PHB) and another 4 accumulated hydroxy-butyrate copolymers and other monomer units. These 6 strains were molecularly characterised by partially sequencing the 16s rRNA ribosomal gene, localizing them in 4 clusters on the taxonomic tree

    The individual perception of quality of life in relation to health (QLH) may be related to physical disorders such as musculoskeletal disorders (MED), which may be a risk factor triggering diseases, creating economic impact due to absenteeism work. Objective: Establish the relationship between musculoskeletal symptoms (MSS) and perceived QLH among workers at a tannery. Methodology: Observational descriptive study in 56 workers in a tannery, Valle del Cauca. Two questionnaires were used in the date’s recollection: The Nordic to identify the presence of MSS and the SF-36 to assess the QLH. Potential associations between QLH dimensions and MSS were explored. Results: MSS most prevalent was pain in neck (60.7%), followed by back pain (58.9%) and wrist pain (48.2%). QLH dimensions more affected were Healt transition (53.6%), General Health (26.8%) and Body Pain (19.6%). A high risk workers relationated with Mental Health, the MED prevalence were Lumbar Pain (32,1%), Wrist Pain (26,8%) and Shoulder Pain (23,2%). A medium and high risk workers relationated with Physical Health were Lumbar Pain (23,2%), Neck Pain (19,6%) and Shoulder Pain (14,3%). Conclusion: According to the results the study establishes relationship between the presence of MSS and QLH.La percepción individual de calidad de vida en relación a la salud (CVS) puede estar relacionada con alteraciones físicas como desórdenes musculo esqueléticos (DME), lo cual puede convertirse en un factor de riesgo desencadenante de enfermedades profesionales, generando repercusiones económicas relacionadas con el ausentismo laboral. Objetivo: Establecer la relación entre los síntomas músculo esqueléticos (SME) y la percepción de CVS en los trabajadores de una Curtiembre. Metodología: Estudio observacional descriptivo en 56 trabajadores de una Curtiembre del Valle del Cauca. Para la recolección de datos se utilizaron los cuestionarios: Nórdico, que identifica presencia de SME; y el SF-36, que evalúa la CVS. Se exploró la relación de las dimensiones de calidad de vida y los SME. Resultados: El DME de mayor prevalencia fue Dolor a Nivel de Cuello (60,7%), seguido por Dolor Lumbar (58,9%) y Dolor en Muñecas (48,2%). Las dimensiones más afectadas de la CVS fueron: Transición en Salud (53,6%), Salud General (26,8%) y Dolor Corporal (19,6%). En los trabajadores con riesgo Alto en las esferas relacionadas con la Salud Mental, los SME de mayor prevalencia fueron de Dolor Lumbar (32,1%), Dolor en Muñecas (26,8%) y Dolor en Hombros (23,2%). Se presentó mayor prevalencia de Dolor Lumbar (23,2%), seguido de Dolor en Cuello (19,6%) y Dolor en Hombros (14,3%) en Riesgo Medio y Alto en las esferas relacionadas con la Salud Física. Conclusiones: Según estos resultados existe una relación entre los SME y la percepción de CVS
