Indonesian society is currently experiencing a huge backlog in livable house. The backlog tends to grow in line with the conditions of insufficient supply and growing demand. In accordance with the government\u27s program increasing the production of livable housing, human resources in the field of housing industry should be prepared well. One of the important human resources is the expert in the execution of housing constructions. The experts should have competences needed so that the construction can be executed efficiently and effectively. The objective of this study was to determine the sequence of critical competencies that should be mastered by the expert in execution of housing construction. This result is useful for improving the quality of education and training of human resources in the field of housing construction to overcome the backlog of livable house in Indonesia. The research method involves two main steps: the data collection and data processing methods. The competences and the important level were collected from the housing developers through interviews and questionnaires. The interview is intended to determine the types of competencies while questionnaire intended to determine the level of importance. The importance was validated with Kendal-W (Kendall\u27s Coefficient of Concordance). The result shows two groups of competencies that should be mastered by the experts in execution of housing construction: 1. pre-construction phase, and 2. construction phase. In the pre-construction phase, the expert should master in: shop drawing, site plan for construction, budgeting/scheduling, workforce planning, mapping, health and safety issues, and the contract. While at the construction phase, the expert should master in methods of: scaffolding/formwork, reinforcement, roof framing, concreting, time/quality control, electrical/plumbing work, and material/equipment management

For construction of million houses needed by Indonesians, material efficiency should be prioritized. This is because so many wasted materials in the process. For example, much mortar is wested on a masonry work. To minimize the waste, a mortar mold should be used. The objective of this study was to determine the efficiency that could be got by using a mortar mold in a masonry work. The reseach method was experiments. The result was determined by comparing the mortar needs between the two ways, i.e. with and without the masonry mold tool. Twenty-one experiments have been conducted for each way. The results of this study indicate that using of the tool could save about 23% of mortar or 23% of the material cost

Eco-settlement infrastructure planning is a concept that puts the balance of the ecosystem at a settlement. This concept is urged to apply to residential areas, especially in the area of the catchment. Huntap as a settlement area also need to apply the concept of eco-settlement. After the eruption of Merapi, Huntap development is mostly done in the area of Cangkringan which is the catchment area that supplies water in the city of Jogjakarta. The purpose of this study was to report the results of the application of eco-settlement planning on huntap in Cangkringan area. The method used in this research are: 1) Identification of the condition of settlement infrastructure that had been built 2) comparative analysis of results of this identification with the concept of eco-settlement, 3) to formulate the results of the analysis. From the analysis, we can conclude that the development of infrastructure in the dwelling in accordance with the concept of eco-settlement

Strain engineering in Ge/GeSn core/shell nanowires

Strain engineering in Sn-rich group IV semiconductors is a key enabling factor to exploit the direct band gap at mid-infrared wavelengths. Here, we investigate the effect of strain on the growth of GeSn alloys in a Ge/GeSn core/shell nanowire geometry. Incorporation of Sn content in the 10-20 at.% range is achieved with Ge core diameters ranging from 50nm to 100nm. While the smaller cores lead to the formation of a regular and homogeneous GeSn shell, larger cores lead to the formation of multi-faceted sidewalls and broadened segregation domains, inducing the nucleation of defects. This behavior is rationalized in terms of the different residual strain, as obtained by realistic finite element method simulations. The extended analysis of the strain relaxation as a function of core and shell sizes, in comparison with the conventional planar geometry, provides a deeper understanding of the role of strain in the epitaxy of metastable GeSn semiconductors

Diffraction by a truncated planar array of dipoles: a Wiener-Hopf approach

    Get PDF
This is the final version. Available on open access from Elsevier via the DOI in this recordWe present a rigorous solution to the problem of scattering of a semi-infinite planar array of dipoles, i.e., infinite in one direction and semi-infinite in the other direction, thus presenting an edge truncation, when illuminated by a plane wave. Such an arrangement represents the canonical problem to investigate the di raction occurring at the edge-truncation of a planar array. By applying the Wiener-Hopf technique to the Z-transformed system of equations derived from the electric field integral equation, we provide rigorous close form expressions for the dipoles’ currents. We find that such currents are represented as the superposition of the infinite array solution plus a perturbation, which comprises both edge di raction and bound surface waves excited by the edge truncation. Furthermore, we provide an analytical approximation for the double-infinite sum involved in the calculation which drastically reduces the computational e ort of this approach and also provides physically-meaningful asymptotics for the di racted currents.Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC

The study aims to explore the effects that videoconferencing Analytic Psychodrama (AP) has on the psychological wellbeing and emotional competence of young adults who are suffering from mental health problems. Twenty-two undergraduate students, asking for help at the Psychological Counselling Service of the University of Bologna for anxiety-depressive problems, took part in the three online groups that met weekly from October 2020 to July 2021. The Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation Outcome Measure, the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire Short Form, the Toronto Alexithymia Scale, the Interpersonal Reactivity Index, and the Group Climate Questionnaire were used as test-retest questionnaires for clinical outcomes, emotional competence, and group climate evaluations. There was a statistically significant difference between the pre-test and 10-month scores for patients in clinical outcomes. Alexithymia significantly decreased and emotional intelligence and group engagement increased post-intervention. Videoconferencing AP sounds promising for alleviating psychological problems and to improve young adults' emotional competence

Freeze/thaw stress induces organelle remodeling and membrane recycling in cryopreserved human mature oocytes

Purpose: Our aim was to evaluate the ultrastructure of human metaphase II oocytes subjected to slow freezing and fixed after thawing at different intervals during post-thaw rehydration. Methods: Samples were studied by light and transmission electron microscopy. Results: We found that vacuolization was present in all cryopreserved oocytes, reaching a maximum in the intermediate stage of rehydration. Mitochondria-smooth endoplasmic reticulum (M-SER) aggregates decreased following thawing, particularly in the first and intermediate stages of rehydration, whereas mitochondria-vesicle (MV) complexes augmented in the same stages. At the end of rehydration, vacuoles and MV complexes both diminished and M-SER aggregates increased again. Cortical granules (CGs) were scarce in all cryopreserved oocytes, gradually diminishing as rehydration progressed. Conclusions: This study also shows that such a membrane remodeling is mainly represented by a dynamic process of transition between M-SER aggregates and MV complexes, both able of transforming into each other. Vacuoles and CG membranes may take part in the membrane recycling mechanism

3-D Printed All-Dielectric GRIN Lens Antenna With an Integrated Feeder

In this paper we present the design, fabrication, and experimental verification of a new type of Graded-index (GRIN) lens antenna with an integrated feeder. The continuously varying refractive index distribution is chosen appropriately to offer the rays collimation at the lens aperture. It is practically implemented by varying the material density in a host medium, thus realizing a new type of all-dielectric high gain antenna, entirely using 3D printing. This solution can find application to high gain wireless communication and measurement systems. This GRIN lens antenna is printed in one monolithic process and does not require the feeder to be placed at a focal distance, thus complying with more strict space requirements. It accepts interchangeable feeds that can cover a wide frequency range. The directivity and gain are evaluated using near-field measurements in the Ku-band. A 40% measured aperture efficiency is achieved at 14GHz. The challenges and performance limitations that come with 3D printing, as compared to the design of idealized continuous distribution GRIN lenses are discussed
