In a quantum dot with three leads the transmission matrix t_{12} between two
of these leads is a truncation of a unitary scattering matrix S, which we treat
as random. As the number of channels in the third lead is increased, the
constraints from the symmetry of S become less stringent and t_{12} becomes
closer to a matrix of complex Gaussian random numbers with no constraints. We
consider the distribution of the singular values of t_{12}, which is related to
a number of physical quantities. Changing the number of channels in the third
lead corresponds to increasing the amount of loss in the system (and is
distinct from prior uses of a third lead to model dephasing)

The Impact of Augmented Reality on Vocabulary Acquisition in Iran
This paper explores gender differences among the students that used augmented reality (AR) in Iranian secondary schools. Vocabulary learning is considered as basic in foreign language acquisition, and it has a great importance in Iranian language education. Participants of the study were both female and male students due to the fact Iranian schools are considered gender-based. The Iranian education system is not based on co-education, and for this reason male and female students attend different schools. The current study is based on experimental design, and data was collected using pre-test and post-test. The findings show that there are no differences in learning English vocabulary due to gender among the Iranian students who use the AR-based approach

Deteksi Dan Identifikasi Cemaran Virus Avian Influenza Pada Pasar Tradisional Di Kabupaten Aceh Besar Dan Kota Banda Aceh
Penelitian ini dirancang untuk mendeteksi keberadaan virus AI pada beberapa titik kritis, yaitu unggas, kandang penampungan sementara, tempat pemotongan dan penjualan karkas, dan mengidentifikasi subtipe virus AI pada beberapa pasar tradisional di Kabupaten Aceh Besar dan Kota Banda Aceh, Propinsi Aceh. Sampel swab diambil secara acak (random) dari empat pasar di Kabupaten Aceh Besar dan Kota Banda Aceh, Propinsi Aceh, yaitu pasar Lambaro, Ketapang, Ulekareng dan Peunayong, dan dipoolkan. Satu pool sampel berisi 1 sampai 5 swab yang dikelompokkan berdasarkan pedagang, jenis unggas, dan titik kritis cemaran AI. Jumlahtotal sampel yang diambil adalah 314 swab, yang terdiri dari swab trakea unggas hidup, kandang penampungan, meja tempat pemotongan, dan karkas, kemudian dikelompokkan dalam 121 pool. Isolasi virus AI kedalam telur ayam bertunas (TAB), pemeriksaan secara serologis (uji HA/HI), dan identifikasi molekuler (metode RT-PCR) di lakukan di bagian Virologi Laboratorium Veteriner, dinas Kesehatan Hewan dan Peternakan Provinsi Aceh, dan Laboratorium Riset Terpadu Fakultas Kedokteran Hewan Universitas Syiah Kuala Banda Aceh. Analisis hasil pemeriksaan serologis dan identifikasi molekuler virus AI dilakukan dengan metode deskriptif. Hasilisolasi virus pada TAB menunjukkan bahwa embrio mengalami kematian pada 1 hari setelah di infeksikan dengan material virus dari sampel swab yang berasal dari pasar Lambaro Kabupaten Aceh Besar, dan titer antibodi terhadap virus AI hanya terdeteksi pada itik dan ayam pedaging yang berkisar antara 24 sampai dengan 27. Dari hasil serologis tersebut dilanjutkan dengan pemeriksaan RT-PCR. Berdasarkan hasil uji RT-PCR menggunakan primer spesifik terhadap gen M, H5, dan N1 diperoleh virus AI yang bersirkulasi pada unggas di pasar Lambaro tergolong subtipe H5N1. Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa diantara beberapa titik kritiscemaran virus AI di pasar tradisional, unggas hidup (itik dan ayam pedaging) yang berada dalam kandang penampungan sementara merupakan potensial penyebaran virus AI ke lingkungannya
Influence of yarn parameters on cotton/kenaf blended yarn characteristics
Spinning kenaf fibers into yarns is challenging due to the stiffness and lack of cohesiveness of the fibers. Alkali treatment is known to remove hemicellulose, wax, and breaks down lignin, reducing stiffness of kenaf fiber and improving its spinnability. Kenaf fibers were treated at percentages of 4% and 6% and blended with cotton fibers at blend ratios of 40:60 and 50:50 prior to a ring spinning process to produce a double ply yarn of 70 tex. Yarn were twisted at three sets of twist. The responses were measured in terms of carding waste percentages and yarn strength. The results showed that the optimized yarn structural parameter is kenaf fiber treated at 6% and with a kenaf/cotton 40/60 blending ratio based on its tenacity and minimum carding waste. P-wave and s-wave estimation for GPS derived seismic signal
The availability of GPS (Global Positioning System) provides an alternative technology to seismography to detect earthquakes and detect their epicenters. However, the limited sampling rate and processing errors could potentially reduce the accuracy for estimating the required signal parameters. This paper evaluates the methods for analysing GPS derived seismic signals from the 2004 Sumatra Andaman Earthquake based on their timerepresentation, power spectrum and time-frequency representation.
