    Get PDF
It is shown how the single-site coherent potential approximation and the averaged T-matrix approximation become exact in the calculation of the averaged single-particle Green function of the electron in the Anderson model when the site energy is distributed randomly with lorentzian distribution. Using these approximations, Lloyd's exact result is reproduced

Large-scale processes in the upper layers of the Indian Ocean inferred from temperature climatology

Determination of amplitudes and phases for the annual and semi-annual cycle of the temperature in the Indian Ocean north of 20S from Levitus temperature climatology (1982) gives maximum amplitudes of the seasonal cycle at 100 m with the dominance of semi-annual cycle in the equatorial region and annual cycle elsewhere in the domain. The Bay of Bengal shows characteristics of the westward-propagating Rossby waves of annual period, while the Arabian Sea shows the dominance of Ekman pumping in the central region and westward-propagating features in the eastern region. Qualitative evidences obtained from the distribution of depth of 20°C isotherm and computed Ekman pumping velocities are consistent with the above inferences. From the time-longitude plot of the depth of the 20°C isotherm, the phase speed of westward propagating features from the west coast of India along 10.5N and 15.5N are found to be 7.8 cm s−1 and 5.2 cm s−1 respectively. This is consistent with the corresponding values computed and verified with theory for the Bay of Bengal (Prasanna Kumar and Unnikrishnan, 1995)

Friction Stir Welding Of Magnesium Alloys - A Review

The modern technologies are gaining more and more importance in almost every field and Manufacturing industry not an exception. More and more research has been going on related to welding techniques [1]. Friction stir welding is one of the latest welding techniques that have found a major part in automotive sector. Magnesium alloy one of the major raw material used in these industries due to its light weight, good thermal conductivity, excellent specific strength and stiffness, exceptional dimensional stability, high damping capacity, and high recycle ability [2]. Magnesium alloys can be divided into cast magnesium alloys and wrought magnesium ones in terms of difference in processing [3]. Main commercial magnesium alloys include the AZ series (Mg-Al-Zl), AM series (Mg-Al-Mn), AE series (Mg-Al-RE), EZ series (Mg-RE-Zn), ZK series (Mg-Znmdash;Zr), and WE series (Mg-RE-Zr)[4]. It is thi property which entices automobile manufacturers to replace denser materials, not only steels, cast irons and copper base alloys but even aluminium alloys by magnesium based alloys. Statistically, more than 90% of the magnesium alloy structural components are produced by casting process, especially by various die-casting processes. .Magnesium has a density two-thirds that of aluminium and only slightly higher than of fibre-reinforced plastics and possesses excellent mechanical and physical properties. Compared to using alternative materials, using Mg alloys results in a 22% to 70% weight reduction. Recent developments in coating and alloying of Mg improved the creep and corrosion resistance properties of magnesium alloys for elevated temperatures and corrosive environments. The introduction of this paper gives a detailed review about Friction Stir Welding of Mg alloys. This review work may be a ready reference for subsequent researchers

To construct tall structure by lessening section sizes and expanding accessible space, to assemble the super structure of long traverse connects and to the sturdiness of scaffold decks a high quality is required. High quality cement was utilized as a part of South Wacker in Chicago of 80 Mpa, Banana Tower in Abu Dhabi of 80 Map and Frankfurt Treason in Germany of 125 Map. On the off chance that high quality cement is self-compacting the generation of thickly fortified building component from high quality cement with high homogeneity would be a simple work. In the present examination a judicious blend configuration is set up and self-minimal capacity testing techniques have been done from the view purpose of making it a standard cement by utilizing mineral admixtures like small scale silica and fly fiery debris for conferring High Strength Self Compacting Concrete. The stream properties of coming about cement is portrayed in the crisp state by techniques utilized for, Self compacting concrete, for example, Slump-stream, V-pipe and L-box tests separately. Promote the toughness properties are analyzed for High Strength Self Compacting Concrete blend of review M100. The solidness factors are additionally examined. From these investigations we watch that 15% Micro silica and 25% Fly fiery debris will give ideal quality for M100 review at water/powder proportion of 0.22. The impact Na2So4 on these blends is nil where as HCL and H2So4 had considerable effect

Hydrogeochemical studies of ground waters in Neyveli basin along the Cuddalore coast, SE coast of India

A detailed study had been carried out on groundwater in Neyveli basin along the Cuddalore coast to establish the hydrogeochemistry and identify the various sources of contaminants as well assess the physical and chemical quality of the groundwater. The groundwater was found to vary considerably in terms of chemical and physical properties. Generally the water was alkaline, high chemical constituents near the coastal region and undersaturated with respect to carbonate minerals. The majority of groundwater clustered towards Mg-Cl, Ca-Cl and Na-Cl facies. Interpretation of data reveals that weathering and ion exchange through which major ions enter the groundwater system. Anthropogenic activities were found to have greatly impacted negatively on the quality of the groundwater

Delayed fracture union in a case of vitamin D dependent rickets associated with pulmonary tuberculosis - a case report

    Get PDF
Rickets is a defect of bone mineralization caused by vitamin D deficiency, seen most significantly at growth plates that result in radiological bony abnormalities like metaphyseal flaring and cupping, physeal widening with focal and generalised osteomalacia. Here we present a rare case of 7 years old male, a case of vitamin D3 deficiency rickets in a known case of multi drug resistant pulmonary tuberculosis.  The patient had suffered left proximal fibular fracture following trivial fall 1.5 month back and had delayed bony union leading to difficulty in walking and pain. The patient was treated with oral vitamin D supplementation. In vitamin D deficiency rickets, there is decreased bone mineralization leading to weak bones and delayed fracture healing in children. Low serum vitamin D levels also caused decreased immunity with increased susceptibility to respiratory infections like pulmonary tuberculosis. Appropriate treatment with injectable or oral vitamin D3 with adequate exposure of sunlight and proper nutrition is the best modality of treatment.
