From a multi-dimensional conceptualization of social justice that considers redistribution, recognition and representation as those aspects needed to assess a practice as socially just, in this article we propose a model of analysis that allows us to describe the reproduction of social inequalities in the educational system. We focus this analysis on initial vocational educational training contexts, addressed to at-risk youth who are in a potential situation of educational exclusion, by relating pedagogical identities produced in these programmes to their differential participation in the social order. Institutional and structural conditions of the educational system and the differential social insertion of young people institutionalise a social injustice that consolidates situations of social inequalities. One of the main difficulties of our educational system in the current sociohistorical moment derives from the fact that part of the population does not successfully finish the compulsory stage because they do not get the Secondary Education Certificate by the expected age. In this article, we address this problem from the constraints imposed by the system when considering compulsory schooling as a transitional stage and not as an end in itself. In this sense, we assume that it is not possible to separate what happens in the compulsory stage from the possibilities to which it gives access, since the social position acquired through labour is related to the results obtained from the educational itinerary. We approach these limitations taking into account that the agency of the subjects is conditioned by the structural moment in which they are living and by the characteristics of the pedagogical practice, understood as social practice. Specifically, we analyse basic Vocational Education and Training as a curricular diversification device aimed at students at risk of not obtaining the Secondary Education Certificate, and therefore at risk of starting a vulnerable labour career. To frame this analysis, we offer an organised repertoire of theoretical concepts that allows us to address these limitations from pedagogy and sociology. We present the results obtained in a research project on pedagogical practices carried out in schools of the city of Valencia that taught this educational level in its first year of implementation within the framework of the current educational law. We finish with a proposal for discussion on the need for a certificate in the compulsory stage.Universidad de Granada. Departamento de Didáctica y Organización Escolar. Grupo FORCE (HUM-386

Search for secluded dark matter towards the Galactic Centre with the ANTARES neutrino telescope

Searches for dark matter (DM) have not provided any solid evidence for the existence of weakly interacting massive particles in the GeV-TeV mass range. Coincidentally, the scale of new physics is being pushed by collider searches well beyond the TeV domain. This situation strongly motivates the exploration of DM masses much larger than a TeV. Secluded scenarios contain a natural way around the unitarity bound on the DM mass, via the early matter domination induced by the mediator of its interactions with the Standard Model. High-energy neutrinos constitute one of the very few direct accesses to energy scales above a few TeV. An indirect search for secluded DM signals has been performed with the ANTARES neutrino telescope using data from 2007 to 2015. Upper limits on the DM annihilation cross section for DM masses up to 6PeV are presented and discussed.Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Commissariat à l’énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives (CEA), Commission Européenne (FEDER fund and Marie Curie Program), Institut Universitaire de France (IUF)LabEx UnivEarthS (ANR-10-LABX-0023 and ANR-18-IDEX- 0001), Région Île-de-France (DIM-ACAV), Région Alsace (contrat CPER), Région Provence- Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Département du Var and Ville de La Seyne-sur-Mer, FranceBundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF), GermanyIstituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN), ItalyNederlandse organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (NWO), The NetherlandsExecutive Unit for Financing Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation (UEFISCDI), RomaniaMinisterio de Ciencia, Innovación, Investigación y Universidades (MCIU): Programa Estatal de Generación de Conocimiento (refs. Search for non-standard neutrino interactions with 10 years of ANTARES data

Non-standard interactions of neutrinos arising in many theories beyond the Standard Model can significantly alter matter effects in atmospheric neutrino propagation through the Earth. In this paper, a search for deviations from the prediction of the standard 3-flavour atmospheric neutrino oscillations using the data taken by the ANTARES neutrino telescope is presented. Ten years of atmospheric neutrino data collected from 2007 to 2016, with reconstructed energies in the range from similar to 16 GeV to 100 GeV, have been analysed. A log-likelihood ratio test of the dimensionless coefficients epsilon(mu tau) and epsilon(tau tau) - epsilon(mu mu) does not provide clear evidence of deviations from standard interactions. For normal neutrino mass ordering, the combined fit of both coefficients yields a value 1.7 sigma away from the null result. However, the 68% and 95% confidence level intervals for epsilon(mu tau) and epsilon(tau tau) - epsilon(mu mu), respectively, contain the null value. Best fit values, one standard deviation errors and bounds at the 90% confidence level for these coefficients are given for both normal and inverted mass orderings. The constraint on epsilon(mu tau) is among the most stringent to date and it further restrains the strength of possible non-standard interactions in the mu - tau sector.Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS)French Atomic Energy CommissionCommission Europeenne (FEDER fund)Commission Europeenne (Marie Curie Program)Institut Universitaire de France (IUF)LabEx UnivEarthS ANR-10-LABX-0023 ANR-18-IDEX-0001Region Ile-de-France Region Grand-Est Region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'AzurFederal Ministry of Education & Research (BMBF)Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN)Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) Netherlands GovernmentCouncil of the President of the Russian Federation for young scientists and leading scientific schools supporting grants, RussiaConsiliul National al Cercetarii Stiintifice (CNCS)Unitatea Executiva pentru Finantarea Invatamantului Superior, a Cercetarii, Dezvoltarii si Inovarii (UEFISCDI)Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovacion, Investigacion y Universidades (MCIU): Programa Estatal de Generacion de Conocimiento PGC2018-096663-B-C41 PGC2018-096663-A-C42 PGC2018-096663-B-C43 PGC2018-096663-B-C44Center for Forestry Research & Experimentation (CIEF)European Commission PROMETEO/2020/019 GRISOLIA/2018/119,/2021/192 CIDEGENT/2018/034,/2019/043,/2020/049,/2021/023Junta de Andalucia A-FQM-053-UGR18 tLa Caixa Foundation LCF/BQ/IN17/11620019EU: MSC program, Spain 101025085Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, MoroccoArab Fund for Economic and Social Developme

Search for solar atmospheric neutrinos with the ANTARES neutrino telescope

    Get PDF
Solar Atmospheric Neutrinos (SA nu s) are produced by the interaction of cosmic rays with the solar medium. The detection of SA nu s would provide useful information on the composition of primary cosmic rays as well as the solar density. These neutrinos represent an irreducible source of background for indirect searches for dark matter towards the Sun and the measurement of their flux would allow for a better assessment of the uncertainties related to these searches. In this paper we report on the analysis performed, based on an unbinned likelihood maximisation, to search for SA nu s with the ANTARES neutrino telescope. After analysing the data collected over 11 years, no evidence for a solar atmospheric neutrino signal has been found. An upper limit at 90% confidence level on the flux of solar atmospheric neutrinos has been obtained, equal to 7x10(-11) [TeV-1 cm(-2) s(-1)] b at E-nu = 1 TeV for the reference cosmic ray model assumed.Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Commissariat à l’énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives (CEA), Commission Européenne (FEDER fund and Marie Curie Program), Institut Universitaire de France (IUF), LabEx UnivEarthS (ANR-10-LABX-0023 and ANR- 18-IDEX-0001), Région Île-de-France (DIM-ACAV), Région Alsace (contrat CPER), Région Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, Département du Var and Ville de La Seyne-sur-Mer, FranceBundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF), GermanyIstituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN), ItalyNederlandse organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (NWO), the NetherlandsExecutive Unit for Financing Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation (UEFISCDI), RomaniaMinisterio de Ciencia, Innovación, Investigación y Universidades (MCIU): Programa Estatal de Generación de Conocimiento (refs. Indexación: Web of Science; ScieloUreteral replacement by a loop of defunctionalized ileum was described more than 2 centuries ago and continues to be a therapeutic option at present. This series describes the technique of bilateral ureteral replacement with ileum. Aim: To report 4 cases of bilateral ileal ureteral replacement performed at our institution, its indications, the surgical technique, complications, and a review of the literature. Material and Method: We report 4 cases of extensive bilateral ureteral injury of different etiologies, whose treatment with curative intent was to replace the damaged ureter with a isoperistaltic small bowel segment. Results: The surgical technique used was standard in all cases. There were no intraoperative complications and only one patient had hyperchloremic acidosis. No patient has shown loss of renal function in the long-term follow up. Conclusion: Is an effective therapeutic, safe and reproducible technique to replacement of major bilateral ureteral injuries, independent of the original cause.

Whole transcription profile of responders to anti-tnf drugs in pediatric inflammatory bowel disease

Background: Up to 30% of patients with pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) do not respond to anti-Tumor Necrosis Factor (anti-TNF) therapy. The aim of this study was to identify pharmacogenomic markers that predict early response to anti-TNF drugs in pediatric patients with IBD. Methods: An observational, longitudinal, prospective cohort study was conducted. The study population comprised 38 patients with IBD aged 0.6 or <−0.6 and p value < 0.05). After validation, FCGR1A, FCGR1B, and GBP1 were overexpressed in non-responders two weeks after initiation of anti-TNF treatment (Log2FC 1.05, 1.21, and 1.08, respectively, p value < 0.05). Conclusion: Expression of the FCGR1A, FCGR1B, and GBP1 genes is a pharmacogenomic biomarker of early response to anti-TNF agents in pediatric IBDInstituto de Salud Carlos III número de becas PI16 / 00559 y PI19 / 00792Consejería de Educación y Deporte de la Comunidad de Madrid PEJ16 / MED / AI-1260Instituto de Investigaciones Sanitarias Gregorio Marañón PRE2018-2Fondos Europeos de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER) del Comisión Europe
