The authors’ methodology of the development of the physical qualities of cadets during kettlebell lifting activities is substantiated in the article and its efficiency is checked. 86 cadets participated in the research. The experimental (EG, n=29) and control (CG, n=57) groups were formed. The research was conducted according to the following tests: 100 m race, 3 km race, forward inclination of the body, holding the body in a horizontal position, pull-up bar exercise, hipswing-up, push-up on parallel bars, complex power exercise. At the end of the study, a significantly better level of the physical qualities’ development of cadets engaged in kettlebell lifting activities according to the authors’ methodology was established by the majority of tests

Motor activity as the basis of a healthy lifestyle of student youth / Grygoriy P. Griban, Tetiana Ye. Yavorska, Pavlo P. Tkachenko and ot. // Wiadomości Lekarskie. - 2020. - Vol. 73, Issue 6. - P. 1199-1206. -DOI: 10.36740/WLek202006123. The aim is to find out the role of motor activity in developing a healthy lifestyle of student youth in the process of physical education. The study involved 647 students, aged 18-22. The research methods are the analysis and synthesis of the literature, analysis of curricula, programs, methodological support and quality of training, questionnaires, and the methods of mathematical statistics. It is determined that the majority of the students had no need for a healthy lifestyle, the lack of knowledge in this area, low activity while performing the requirements of a healthy lifestyle, irrational organization of educational activities, bad habits and other factors that negatively affect their health. The current system of physical education in the higher education institutions of Ukraine cannot change the attitude of students to a healthy lifestyle. The purpose of physical education, in addition to the formation of physical skills and development of students’ physical qualities, should be educational work aimed at forming a positive attitude towards a healthy lifestyle.

© 2016 by author/s.The urgency of the issue stated in this article is caused by the need for mastering skills and patterns of self-regulation when being an adolescent since this time is sensitive for developing processes of personal understanding and evolution. Thus, mastering skills and patterns of self-regulation as a necessary part of the whole ability of personality formation as well as mastering reflection as the main age-dependent formation is an important stage of adolescents’ individual development. The purpose of the present article is to solve the problem of adolescents' self-regulation development via the sensory room system. The leading method of study of this problem is the method of pedagogical experiment during which the program “Find yourself” was developed and tested. The content of the program is described in the present article. The article presents potential of self-regulation development as a way to control personal psycho-emotional state which can be managed by external effects, in particular by the system of sensory room. It was proved that it's possible to develop behavior self-regulation of adolescents by self-influence of the person using affirmation, visualization and psycho-physiological regulation; upgrading communication skills and subjective control. Materials of the article present utility for psychologists, social and supervising teachers working with adolescents

Neuropsychiatric Lyme Disease and Vagus Nerve Stimulation

    No full text
Lyme disease, the most common tick-borne disease in the United States, is caused by infection with the spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi. While most patients with acute Lyme disease recover completely if treated with antibiotics shortly after the onset of infection, approximately 10–30% experience post-treatment symptoms and 5–10% have residual symptoms with functional impairment (post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome or PTLDS). These patients typically experience pain, cognitive problems, and/or fatigue. This narrative review provides a broad overview of Lyme disease, focusing on neuropsychiatric manifestations and persistent symptoms. While the etiology of persistent symptoms remains incompletely understood, potential explanations include persistent infection, altered neural activation, and immune dysregulation. Widely recognized is that new treatment options are needed for people who have symptoms that persist despite prior antibiotic therapy. After a brief discussion of treatment approaches, the article focuses on vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), a neuromodulation approach that is FDA-approved for depression, epilepsy, and headache syndromes and has been reported to be helpful for other diseases characterized by inflammation and neural dysregulation. Transcutaneous VNS stimulates the external branch of the vagus nerve, is minimally invasive, and is well-tolerated in other conditions with few side effects. If well-controlled double-blinded studies demonstrate that transcutaneous auricular VNS helps patients with chronic syndromes such as persistent symptoms after Lyme disease, taVNS will be a welcome addition to the treatment options for these patients

A different kind of pain: Affective valence of errors and incongruence

Such error- and conflict-related signs of negative affect are found even when there is no time pressure or external reward and the task itself is very simple. Previous studies, however, provide inconsistent evidence regarding the affective consequences of resolved conflicts, that is, conflicts that resulted in correct responses. We tested whether response accuracy in the Eriksen flanker task will moderate the effect of trial incongruence using affective priming to measure positive and negative affect. We found that responses to incongruent trials elicit positive affect irrespective of their accuracy. Errors, in turn, result in negative affect irrespective of trial congruence. The effects of conflicts and errors do not interact and affect different dimensions of affective priming. Conflicts change the speed of evaluative categorisation while errors are reflected in categorisation accuracy. We discuss the findings in light of the "reward value and prediction" model and the "affect as a feedback for predictions" framework and consider the possible mechanisms behind the divergent effects.8 p
