A Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Study on Rubrene-cobalt Nano-composites

We implemented a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) study on rubrene(C42H28)-Co nano-composites that exhibit an enhanced magnetoresistance (MR) ratio of 80%. The 59Co NMR spin echo experiment enabled clarification of the hyperfine field of Co at the interface between the ferromagnet and the molecules, which has not been investigated for molecular spintronics. An enhanced hyperfine field of the Co was observed in the rubrene-Co nano-composites, which may be related to the enhancement of the MR ratio. This study demonstrates the importance of microscopic investigation of the interface between molecules and ferromagnets that governs spin-dependent transport in molecular spin devices.Comment: 12pages, 3 figures, 1 tabl

Morphological and molecular characterization of Curvularia and related species associated with leaf spot disease of rice in Peninsular Malaysia

Curvularia species are important phytopathogens reported worldwide. They are closely related; consist of major destructive pathogens mainly for grasses and cereal plants including rice (Oryza sativa). A leaf spot symptom of rice is one of the common symptoms found in the rice field and caused reduction of rice yield. However, there are no reports on Curvularia species associated with rice leaves showing spot symptoms. The objectives are to isolate and characterize Curvularia and related species from leaf spot of rice by using morphological and molecular characterization and to determine the phylogenetic relationship between the isolated fungi. Fungal isolation was done from diseased rice leaves showing leaf spot symptoms collected throughout Peninsular Malaysia. Thirty-three isolates were recovered and identified based on their morphological characteristics such as conidia morphology, colony appearance, pigmentation and growth rate for species delimitation. Internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region was amplified to confirm the species identification. The 33 isolates were identified as Bipolaris sorokiniana (10 isolates), Curvularia hawaiiensis (8 isolates), C. geniculata (6 isolates), C. eragrostidis (6 isolates), C. aeria (2 isolates) and C. lunata (1 isolate). A phylogenetic tree was constructed based on ITS sequences using neighbour-joining method. The tree grouped members of Curvularia and Bipolaris into different clades. The phylogenetic tree indicated that the presence of two groups of fungi species; highly virulent and mild pathogens. In conclusion, Curvularia species and Bipolaris sorokiniana were present in rice field in Malaysia and associated with leaf spot of rice

Degradation kinetics and mechanism of RH1, a new anti-tumor agent: A technical note

The degradation of RH1 in aqueous solution is found to be both acid and base catalyzed. The maximum stability is obtained in neutral pH but still degrades by 10% (t90) after just 1 week. The stability profile at pH 5 was done, and 4 major degradation products were observed in acid solutions. LC-MS was performed and the molecular weights determined, from which a degradation mechanism was proposed. Degradation products I, II, and III form 2 isomers each depending on which aziridine group is hydrolyzed. No significant effect of light or the presence of antioxidants was observed, indicating that photodegradation and oxidation are not likely degradation reactions

This research had been conducted on 10-20 of august in 2015 at Dompas village, Bukit Batu sub-district, Bengkalis district, Riau Province. The methode which was used in this research is qualitative methode. This kind of methode was chosen because the way how to get the data or information directly from the area by emphasizing more on the aspect of face to face and listening directly to the informations or explanations. Fishermans\u27 perception on the material of the investigation program given had an influence on the real application in the area where the fisherman applied the recommendation of investigation team about the convension of terubuk fish. This program could also said that it did not take serious impact on fishermans\u27 revenue. The program conducted should be consistent in implementing. It means that the plan of program should be continously done. It is in order to make the fishermans able to understand well what they will be done for the future. Then, the team should frequently do such a coordination or reviewing in order to know how far the developmnet has been achieved after the fishery investigation in Dompas village, Bukti Batu sub-district, Bengkalis district, Riau Province
