    Winery website loyalty: the role of sales promotion and service attributes

    Purpose: toward buying wine on mobile phones and m-commerce website loyalty by examining a) the mediating role of sales promotion and b) the moderating role of service attributes of the m-commerce websites in influencing the mediation. Design/methodology/approach: A total of 3,318 completed surveys were collected. Drawing on a large non-probability criterion based purposive sample across six countries (France, Germany, Greece, South Africa, United States and Canada) mediation analysis was performed to examine hypothesized relationships. Findings: Results show that sales promotion mediates the relationship between feelings towards buying wine on mobile phones and m-commerce website loyalty. Moderated mediation reveals that the indirect pathways (sales promotion) through which feelings towards buying wine over mobile exert its effect on m-commerce website loyalty is dependent on the value of service (wine delivery) attributes of the website. The results demonstrate that sales promotion and service are of paramount importance to wineries and wine marketers. Research implications/limitations: Wine producers and retailers should consider the use of sales promotion to enhance sales and loyalty to m-commerce websites. Practical implications: Wine producers and retailers should consider use sales promotion (such as SMS or push notifications) to enhance sales and influence consumer feelings and hence their loyalty. Originality/value: Wine m-commerce studies are limited, especially with an international perspective comparing 6 different countries: 3 from the old world (such as France, Germany and Greece) and 3 from the New World (North America with USA and Canada; and South Africa). Altogether those 6 countries represent around 40% of the world consumption

    Translating and validating a Training Needs Assessment tool into Greek

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>The translation and cultural adaptation of widely accepted, psychometrically tested tools is regarded as an essential component of effective human resource management in the primary care arena. The Training Needs Assessment (TNA) is a widely used, valid instrument, designed to measure professional development needs of health care professionals, especially in primary health care. This study aims to describe the translation, adaptation and validation of the TNA questionnaire into Greek language and discuss possibilities of its use in primary care settings.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>A modified version of the English self-administered questionnaire consisting of 30 items was used. Internationally recommended methodology, mandating forward translation, backward translation, reconciliation and pretesting steps, was followed. Tool validation included assessing item internal consistency, using the alpha coefficient of Cronbach. Reproducibility (test – retest reliability) was measured by the kappa correlation coefficient. Criterion validity was calculated for selected parts of the questionnaire by correlating respondents' research experience with relevant research item scores. An exploratory factor analysis highlighted how the items group together, using a Varimax (oblique) rotation and subsequent Cronbach's alpha assessment.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>The psychometric properties of the Greek version of the TNA questionnaire for nursing staff employed in primary care were good. Internal consistency of the instrument was very good, Cronbach's alpha was found to be 0.985 (p < 0.001) and Kappa coefficient for reproducibility was found to be 0.928 (p < 0.0001). Significant positive correlations were found between respondents' current performance levels on each of the research items and amount of research involvement, indicating good criterion validity in the areas tested. Factor analysis revealed seven factors with eigenvalues of > 1.0, KMO (Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin) measure of sampling adequacy = 0.680 and Bartlett's test of sphericity, p < 0.001.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>The translated and adapted Greek version is comparable with the original English instrument in terms of validity and reliability and it is suitable to assess professional development needs of nursing staff in Greek primary care settings.</p

    Prevalence of alexithymia and its association with anxiety and depression in a sample of Greek chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) outpatients

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a major health problem, especially in adults over 40 years of age, and has a great social and economic impact. The psychological morbidity of COPD patients with regard to anxiety and depressive symptoms has been extensively studied in the past. However, few studies have investigated the prevalence of alexithymia in these patients, as well as its association with this comorbidity. Based on this fact, we studied the prevalence of alexithymia and its association with anxiety and depressive symptoms in COPD outpatients.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>The present study included 167, randomly selected, outpatients diagnosed with COPD. Alexithymia, anxiety and depression were assessed using the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20), Spielberger Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), respectively.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>The mean BDI score was 12.88 (SD: 7.7), mean STAI score 41.8 (SD: 11.0) and mean TAS-20 score 48.2 (SD: 11.5). No differences were observed between genders regarding age and alexithymia (t test <it>P </it>> 0.05), while female patients presented higher depression and trait anxiety scores than males (t test <it>P </it>< 0.05). Clinically significant levels of anxiety were present in 37.1% of men, and in 45.7% of women. The mean depression score was also higher than the corresponding mean score in the general population (one-sample t test <it>P </it>< 0.01), while 27.7% and 30.5% of the sample presented mild and moderate to severe depression, respectively. Finally, a strong correlation was observed between alexithymia, depression and anxiety.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>This study confirms the high prevalence of anxiety and depression symptoms in Greek outpatients with COPD. The prevalence of alexithymia in COPD patients, contrary to what has been observed in patients with other chronic respiratory diseases, seem to be lower. However, we observed a strong association between alexithymia, depression and anxiety levels. This observation suggests that alexithymia should be taken into consideration when drafting specific psychotherapeutic interventions for these patients.</p

    Social networks’ popularity has enabled new approaches in customer-business relationships, particularly in regard to tourism. Much of this is due to the global character of social networks, and the fact that tourists can freely discuss their experiences, making these comments available to others instantly. References found in literature considered the determinants, motivations and adoption of other tourists’ evaluations, and how they can be helpful to peers. These studies have been compiled based on quantitative information, particularly regarding rankings based on the number of comments and reviewers that companies have on content management sites. However, tourist evaluations go beyond just assigning a rating—there are also unstructured comments, and these have not been the object of much analysis. Thus, this work’s focus is on the analysis of the content of comments using the institutional Dineserv model, applied to restaurants and adapting it to social media

    The effect of accelerated ageing on colour stability of visible light-cured (VLC) chairside denture liners

    Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess the colour stability of seven visible light-cured (VLC) hard and soft denture liners by an in vitro accelerated ageing test and compare them with two autopolymerised hard and soft liners. Materials and methods: Ten specimens of each material were fabricated. The initial colour was measured with a tri-stimulus colorimeter. One set of five specimens was placed in distilled water at 37°C in the dark for 15 days, while the remaining were subjected to UV/visible light-accelerated ageing initially for 24 h and then for 144 h. Colour change (δE) was calculated. Data were statistically analysed by anova, Tukey and t-tests at α = 0.05. Results: All the liners showed clinically acceptable colour change (δE ≤ 6.8) in distilled water. The colour changes after ageing for Triad DuaLine, Lightdon U, Ufi Gel H and Light Liner Hard were clinically unacceptable (δE ≤ 6.8), whereas LightLiner Soft, Astron LC Soft, Triad Resiline and Flexacryl Soft presented slighter and clinically acceptable colour change (δE ≤ 6.8). Conclusion: Accelerated ageing affected significantly the colour stability of all denture liners tested except Astron LC Soft. Soft VLC denture liners were more colour-stable than hard VLC liners. © 2011 The Gerodontology Society and John Wiley &amp; Sons A/S

    The Wine Lab Project Exploring the Views from Experts

    The wine sector in Europe can be considered as a key sector for the economy alongside Europe. \u3a4he wine industry composed by micro and small companies, as family businesses. Isolation and limited access alongside the lack of networking and access to learning opportunities are the main problems of the sector. The Wine Lab project is funded by the European Community programme Erasmus+ and is implemented to co-create knowledge, train employees and workers and innovate new methods of networking in the sector. This paper deal with the research undertaken in the frame of this project. The technique of the Delphi interviews has been implemented by the researchers. Twenty-four stakeholders from five countries participated. The field research was undertaken in two rounds. Participants discussed about the cooperation between research centres and the wine sector. Also participants identified the main problems that wine producers face. Finally, participants expressed their views on the main wine policies implemented in Europe
