Microcomputer Adoptions and Educational Change
While the initial adoption of microcomputers may be a highly ambiguous process, future implementations could be facilitated by an over-all strategy of linking teachers to specific applications
Legal Issues in Creating PPO\u27s
The development of alternate health care delivery and reimbursement mechanisms, particularly those known as Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs), raise a multitude of legal issues. Each PPO will exist in different market conditions and under different state laws. Therefore, while this Article seeks to identify and discuss the legal issues, it cannot provide definitive answers. This Article can, however, serve as a guideline or checklist for PPO analysis and provide recommendations and alternatives for dealing with the legal roadblocks that occur in the formation and operation of PPOs. This discussion will be general in nature and cannot substitute for legal advice regarding any particular factual situations encountered

Single-walled Ising nanotube with opposite sign of interactions using Wang-Landau algorithm
The effect of opposite sign of interactions in a single-walled Ising nanotube
is investigated using the Wang-Landau algorithm. The thermodynamic observables
are calculated from the estimated density of states (DOS) with and without the
presence of an external magnetic field. Irrespective of the applied magnetic
field, a symmetric trend of DOS is observed for opposite sign of interactions
which is in contrast to the asymmetric trend for same sign of interactions.
Further, two types of anti-ferromagnetic (AFM) orderings, namely A-type and
C-type anti-ferromagnetic order, are observed for opposite sign of
interactions. These AFM spin orientations are switched to ferromagnetic (FM)
phase by increasing the applied magnetic field (). However, the spin
ordering changes from the ordered AFM/FM phase to a disordered paramagnetic
phase by increasing the temperature. Phase diagram shows that these three
phases coexist around . This study indicates that, by properly tuning
the magnetic properties, the single-walled nanotube can be used for fabrication
of new types of magnetic storage nano materials.Comment: accepted in European Physical Journal Plu
Nature is Prior to Us: Applying Catholic Social Thought and Anabaptist-Mennonite Theology to the Ethics of Stakeholder Prioritization for the Natural Environment
We develop a spiritual and ethical based understanding of stakeholder theory that treats the natural environment as a primary stakeholder. We consider how Catholic social thought and Anabaptist-Mennonite theology can be seen as important resources for stakeholder thought and management, especially as they pertain to the natural environment as a primary stakeholder. We provide a discussion and implications for academics and practitioners in terms of dignifying both ecology and humanity, and creating solidarity between them. We also discuss how managers can become more attuned to the environment as a primary stakeholder through the development of relationships with the land and communities
Clinical outcome of combined scaphocapitate fusion and posterior interosseous neurectomy for stage III Kienbock’s disease
Background: Treatment of Kienbock’s disease is still controversial. Several authors have described various surgical treatment options for Kienbock’s disease, all of whom reported successful treatment outcomes. The purpose of this study is to explore the clinical results of posterior interosseous neurectomy and scaphocapitate fusion as a treatment option for stage III Kienbock’s disease. Methods: This study evaluated the range of motion, grip and functional results after treatment of ten wrists of stage III Kienbock’s disease. Four males and six females with average age of 26.3 years, seven dominant and three non-dominant wrists were included. Two patients were smokers while six were housewives, three manual workers and a lawyer. The average follow up period was 14.2 months. Results: Four patients revealed excellent, three good and three fair results. The mean modified Mayo score was 81.5. Flexion-extension range was 105.5° representing 74.9% of the contralateral side range. The mean flexion and extension range of operated side was increased, while the flexion increase was nonsignificant. Regarding radial-ulnar deviation, the mean range was 33.5° representing 76.5% of the contralateral side. The mean ulnar and radial deviation was increased, while the radial increase was nonsignificant. The mean grip strength was significantly increased to 90 mmHg representing 93.2% of the contralateral side. Conclusions: Scaphocpitate fusion is a recommended solution for treatment of late stages of Kienbock’s disease with lunate collapse. Longer postoperative time has a positive impact on grip strength and flexion-extension range of motion
Family medicine postgraduate clinical training in two universities in Egypt: Physicians’ perspectives
Background: The Family Medicine Specialty was endorsed to fulfill the needs of qualified Primary Health Care providers. Family Medicine Postgraduate Training in Egypt had started in the universities under the umbrella of Medical Colleges in the form of postgraduate trainings and degrees. Objectives: This paper aimed to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the different clinical rotations in Family Medicine in relation to the learning outcomes and to assess trainees' satisfaction. Methods: A mixed research exploratory study was conducted among 48 postgraduate family physicians’ candidates in their final year of training from two purposively selected universities (Cairo University and El Menoufia University) during 2019.Results: The attitude of the physicians towards their clinical education experience differs significantly between the Internal Medicine & Pediatrics. About 72% of participants were from Cairo University and 28% from Menoufia. Internal Medicine training was the best perceived among trained physicians. More than (71%) of the physicians believed they understood the common clinical cases. Conclusions: These findings can be useful for the policy makers to emphasize the importance of raising awareness among staff member regarding family practice and to implement the suggested recommendations and deal with obstacles to improve the Family Medicine training in order to provide effective and efficient primary care services
Designing Group Examinations to Decrease Social Loafing and Increase Learning
This study examines a method to decrease social loafing in a group examination. Students who met in teams during the semester took an exam in groups. Rules for the exam, based on the Jeopardy game show, facilitated both group and individual accountability. Feedback from students indicated that compared to a class that did not have group exams, students taking the group exam had less social loafing and had higher perceived levels of learning. Furthermore, among students taking the group exams, higher group participation was related to higher perceived performance and more positive attitudes about the exam. We developed a model for how the environment affects group processes which, in turn, affects group and individual outcomes
