What To Expect: Patient Education to Improve Follow-up for Well Child Visits in Rutland, VT
Well-child visits (WCVs) are the cornerstone of pediatric preventative care. Attendance at these visits may prevent illness, reduce adverse side-effects associated with some conditions, and improve health behaviors. Despite this fact, many patients are still missing routine visits, particularly in lower income communities across the United States, like Rutland, VT. The goal of this project is to implement the creation of parent educational handouts distributed at routine visits at CHCRR Family Practice in Rutland, VT, to provide anticipatory guidance and improve attendance of pediatric well visits from birth to 5 years old.https://scholarworks.uvm.edu/fmclerk/1555/thumbnail.jp

Measuring Charge Carrier Mobility of Graphene
This research reports measurements of electron mobility in liquid-gated graphene. Graphene field-effect transistor (GFET) biosensors are more sensitive to changes in external fields when the mobility is high; therefore increasing mobility will improve sensitivity. Mobility can be calculated from the ratio of sheet conductivity to carrier density. Sheet conductivity was measured using van der Pauw geometry and carrier density was determined from measurements of the liquid-gate capacitance. It is shown that mobility improves after the graphene surface is cleaned by an annealing process
Panel Data Estimation Methods on Supply and Demand Elasticities: The Case of Cotton in Greece
This article examines the effects of the application of panel data estimation methods on a system of equations with unbalanced panel data. We apply pooled, random-effects, and fixed-effects estimation in three data sets: small, medium, and large farms to examine the relationship between farm size and the elasticity of cotton supply with respect to cotton price. Our results indicate that the adoption of various estimation methods entails different estimated parameters both in terms of their absolute value and in terms of their statistical significance. Additionally, the elasticity of cotton supply with respect to price varies according to farm size.farm size, panel data, supply elasticity, systems of equations, Demand and Price Analysis, C33, D21, Q18,
The local -vector of the cluster subdivision of a simplex
The cluster complex is an abstract simplicial complex,
introduced by Fomin and Zelevinsky for a finite root system . The
positive part of naturally defines a simplicial subdivision of
the simplex on the vertex set of simple roots of . The local -vector
of this subdivision, in the sense of Stanley, is computed and the corresponding
-vector is shown to be nonnegative. Combinatorial interpretations to
the entries of the local -vector and the corresponding -vector are
provided for the classical root systems, in terms of noncrossing partitions of
types and . An analogous result is given for the barycentric subdivision
of a simplex.Comment: 21 pages, 4 figure
Graphene: Gas Detector
The resistivity of graphene is sensitive to the presence of gas molecules adsorbed on it. Since graphene is one atom thick, a gas detector made from it might be sensitive to the presence of even single molecules of gas. We developed early stage devices for this purpose. This led us to future directions for research
