Anisotropic Velocity Correlation Spectrum at Small Scales in a Homogeneous Turbulent Shear Flow

    Get PDF
A simple theoretical analysis and direct numerical simulations on 512^3 grid points suggest that the velocity correlation spectrum tensor in the inertial subrange of homogeneous turbulent shear flow at high Reynolds number is given by a simple form that is an anisotropic function of the wave vector. The tensor is determined by the rate of the strain tensor of the mean flow, the rate of energy dissipation per unit mass, the wave vector, and two nondimensional constants.4pagesjournal articl

application/pdfCharacteristics of the stabilizing process of open channel flow after: the water distributive operation were studied experimentally. The relationship between the flow stabilizing time and the many hydraulic properties, and the estimating method of the stabilizing timc were investigated. From this study, the following were obtained. 1. The effect for the water stage stabilizing time by the gate groupe that were set downstream from the operating gate were tested. The stabilizing timne becomes slow with increaseing the numbers of gate, and it approches to a limited value. And then, the nondimensional curves related to the water stage stabilizing time were obtained for the eaeh cases of partial closing and opening of gate. 2, The effect for the stabilizing time by the gate groupe that were set upstream from the operating gate were tested. For the case of partial closing of gate, the nondimensional stabilizing time curver, independently with the gate numbers, are shown by the curve, G-O, for the case that was equiped an operating gate only in channel. However, for the case of opening, the stabilizing time becomes slower as gate numbers increase. The nondimensional curves were obtained for this case. 3 . The stabilizing charaeteristics for an open channal system that were equiped many gates, where an optional operation of a gate was done, were studied. In this case, the stabilizing time was affected by the time that is a more slow one, comparing the stabilizing time at both the upstream and the down- stream reach of the operating gate. As the result, the nondimensional stabilizing time curve are shown by Fig. 2-3 for the partial closing of gate and by Fig. 10 for the opening of gate. This estimating method was confirmed by test. 4. Characteristics of the tansformation of surge that passing through the water stage regulating facilities, gate and weir, were investigated by test. The rate of passage and reflection the surge height were related to the relative opening of facilities, for the each cases of positive and negative incoming surge. The results aro shown in Fig. 15. 16. 17. and 18.departmental bulletin pape

Stepping over Obstacles with Augmented Reality based on Visual Exproprioception

The purpose of this study is to analyze the different kinds of ex- proprioceptive visual cues on an Augmented Reality (AR) system during gait exercise, on top of understanding which cues provide the best visualizations in stepping over obstacles. The main problem for users is to understand the position of virtual objects relative to themselves. Since visual exproprioception provides information about the body position in relation to the environment, it has the possibility to yield positive effects with regards to position control and gait biomechanics in the AR system. This research was born as part of the collaboration with the staff of Takanohara Central Hospital in Japan. Twenty-seven individuals were invited to take part in the user study to test three visual interfaces. The task of the mentioned user study involves making the subjects cross and avoid virtual obstacles of different heights that come from different directions. The AR application was implemented in the experiment by using the Head-Mounted Display (HMD) Microsoft HoloLens. Data obtained from the experiment revealed that the interface projected in front of the user from a third-person point of view resulted to improvements in terms of posture, visual stimuli, and safety.conference pape

Structure of Microcrystalline Silicon Film Determined from Raman Spectra Excited by Some Wavelength Lights

    Get PDF
Structural analyses on microcrystalline silicon (μc-Si) films for thin film silicon solar cell applications prepared by plasma CVD method were studied. The crystallinity of μc-Si films were determined by the intensity ratio in the amorphous Si (a-Si) and crystalline Si (c-Si) peak of the Raman spectrum excited from four kinds of wavelength lasers which have the different penetration depth. We could nondestructively detect that the crystallinity of the films were increased as closing upon the front surface. In addition, we tried to calculate the Raman intensity ratio of a-Si and c-Si using a simple structural model of μc-Si. In the high crystallinity the results of observed crystallinity from Raman spectra are consistent with the calculation from the model, but in the low crystallinity these are not consistent with that from our model yet.departmental bulletin pape
