A study on prediction of NOx Emission from Marine Main Diesel Engines for Existing Ship

As the air pollution has been rather issued, IMO has promised to enforce and to strengthen gradually the regulation on the NOx emission from marine diesel engine. Accordingly, the efforts of measuring the emission for existing engine have been tried. But it is hard to get directly the data of emission from existing ship because of technical and economical problems. So the prediction of NOx emission from marine main diesel engine for existing ship, could be useful method for the purpose. Generally, it has been known that excess air ratio and combustion temperature are important factors to control the NOx emission. Two zone model to calculate the burned gas and unburned gas temperature in combustion chamber could be adopted. However, the condition of combustion should be changed by excess air ratio variation in cylinder during combustion period. But it was difficult to know the variation of excess air ratio. In this study, the simulation program was developed in order to predict the emission from main diesel engine of existing ship during operation. Modified two zone model was newly proposed. It was to calculate the combustion temperature by the rate of heat release obtained from measured cylinder pressure. The temperature of unburned region was calculated under the assumption of adiabatic process. And the excess air ratio was investigated to compare the NOx emission between measured and calculated results. As the results, it was confirmed that NOx emission is well predicted by fixed excess air ratio for pratical use. It was discussed to be adopted the fixed excess air ratio with comparison of calculation results. Clinical study on topical vitamin a acid in acne vulgaris

의학과/석사[한글] 1932년 Harris등이 Vitamin A가 "antikeratinizing effect"가 있다고 보고하였고 1943 년 Straumfjord가 이를 좌창환자에 복용시켜 좋은 효과가 있다고 주장하였으나 Lynoh 및 Cook(1947)과 Anderson 및 Stokoe(1963)등에 의하여 좌창에 Vitamin A 투여는 무효함이 밝혀졌다. 1969년 Kligman은 Vitamin A의 대사산물인 Vitamin A acid(VAA)를 피부에 도포한 바 pe eling effect가 있음을 관찰하고 좌창에 도포하여 좋은 치료효과가 있음을 보고한 바 있 다. VAA작용기전은 아직 잘 모르나 세포분열촉진, 세포내 lysosome의 용해, 각질 형성촉진 및 각질의 질적변화(hard keratin→soft keratin) 피지선분비촉진등의 작용이 보고된 바 있다. VAA의 좌창치료효과는 피지선분비를 촉진시켜 면포형성억제, 세포분열을 촉진시켜 각질형성촉진 및 각질의 질적인 변화를 초래하여 각질세포 연결이 약화되어 면포를 빨리 밖으로 밀어낸다고 생각되고 있다. 이에 저자는 심상성좌창 38명을 대상으로 하여 VAA단독, 또는 tetracycline과 병용 치 료한 2군으로 나누어 비교 관찰하였고 이의 부작용을 관찰하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었 다. 1. VAA단독 치료한 심상성좌창에서 3주째 치료성적은 약 70%의 현저한 치료효과를 나타 내었다. 2. VAA와 tetracycline으로 병합 치료한 심상성좌창에서의 3주째 치료성적도 VAA 단독 치료성적과 같은 경향을 보였다. 3. 폐쇄성면포와 구진은 VAA 단독치료군이나 tetracycline과의 병합치료군에서 치료가 시작되면서부터 점차로 감소되나 개방성면포는 치료 1주에서 오히려 숫적 증가를 모이다 가 이후부터 점차로 감소됨을 볼 수 있었다. 그러나 농포는 VAA와 tetracycline을 같이 치료한 군에서는 구진과 같이 점차 감소되나 VAA단독도포군에서는 치료 1주에서 농포의 숫적 증가를 보이다가 이후부터는 감소됨을 볼 수 있었다. 4. VAA 단독도포의 부작용으로 낙설, 발적, 억죄임, 소양감, 작열감외에 드물게는 피부 균열, 삼출, 부종, 동통등의 출현이 있었고 tetracycline과 병합치료군에서도 VAA 단독도 포와 별 차이가 없었다. [영문] In 1932, Harris et al reported that vitamin a had antikeratinizing effect. In 1943, Straumfjord reported enthusiastically that the administration of oral vitamin A had been thought beneficial in acne vulgaris. This enthusiasm had not completely dampened in spit of studies attesting to its ineffectiveness by Lynch and Cook (1947), Andrew and Stokoe (1963). In 1969, Kligman reported the much usefulness of topical vitamin A acid, an endproduct of vitamin A, in acne vulgaris. Its's mechanism is, but in the poorly understand, presented as a proliferation of the epidermis, a labilization of skin lysosomes producing an inflammatory effect; the turn over of cells lining the follicular epithelium is accelerated, increasing the rate of production of horny cells and conversion of hard keratin to soft one. The effectiveness of acne treatment is thus presented as an accelerated cell flow from the sebaceous gland which prevents formation of comedones and forced out from the depth the existing comedones. 38 patient with acne vulgaris were divided into 2 groups; a) a group of topical vitamin A acid application alone b) a group of topical vitamin A acid application and oral tetracycline administration The results obtained were as follows; 1) A group treated with VAA alone for 3 weeks showed as much as 70% significant improvement. 2) A group treated with both VAA and tetracycline showed same therapeutic effect as above. 3) Closed comedones or papules were disappeared gradually, but the number of open comedones were increased in 1st week, then decreased thereafter during treatment with each VAA alone, and combined therapy. Pustules were disappeared in combined therapy gradually, but a number of them were developed in 1st week, and then disappeared thereafter during application of VAA alone. 4) However, there were undesirable side effect caused by this VAA substance.
