    Finite element prediction of the axial load test on the profiled composite panel

    The usage of composite structure has been run for a long time in construction industry and its have become more popular to civil engineers. Profiled steel sheeting structures are getting famous because its stiffness, strength and faster the construction period. The objective of this project is to analyse the behaviour of profiled composite panel under axial load by using finite element method. Foam concrete, Spandek and Trimdek profiled steel sheeting panel are used as composite material and the dimension of panels are set as 700 - 760 mm width with 1000 mm height and 85mm thickness. There are six types of models have been analyses in this project. LUSAS Modeller 14.0 Finite Element Software is able to carry out linear analysis to determine the deformed mesh, maximum stress and strain under axial load condition. in addition, critical buckling load can be predicted under the linear eigenvalue analysis. It concludes that Spandek Profiled Composite Panel can sustain higher buckling load than Trimdek Profiled Composite Panel

    Seeing the Buddha in the Book of Job Through Maimonides\u27s Theory of Providence and Eliade\u27s Theory of Hierophany

    The current study is an unusual reading of the book of Job with a focus on the intellectual transformation of Job. The reading is stimulated by Maimonides\u27 theory of divine providence and facilitated by Eliade\u27s theory of hierophany. The sequence of reading follows a reorganized order and is divided into three parts: the speeches of Job and his friends, the Lord\u27s speech, and the comparison of Job before and after the Lord\u27s speech. The study ends with a suggestion that the experience of Job\u27s intellectual transformation corresponds to the experience of the Buddha\u27s enlightenment. The reading ignores the enigmatic issues discussed in the book of Job and follows a new perspective of reading it as a whole. The fruit of the study is the suggestion of seeing the Buddha in the book of Job through Maimonides\u27 theory of divine providence and Eliade\u27s theory of hierophany

    Stochastic boundary conditions for molecular dynamics simulations

    In this paper we develop a stochastic boundary conditions (SBC) for event-driven molecular dynamics simulations of a finite volume embedded within an infinite environment. In this method, we first collect the statistics of injection/ejection events in periodic boundary conditions (PBC). Once sufficient statistics are collected, we remove the PBC and turn on the SBC. In the SBC simulations, we allow particles leaving the system to be truly ejected from the simulation, and randomly inject particles at the boundaries by resampling from the injection/ejection statistics collected from the current or previous simulations. With the SBC, we can measure thermodynamic quantities within the grand canonical ensemble, based on the particle number and energy fluctuations. To demonstrate how useful the SBC algorithm is, we simulated a hard disk gas and measured the pair distribution function, the compressibility and the specific heat, comparing them against literature values.Comment: 24 pages, 16 figure

We find that the concurrence of two qubits in general N-qubit W state is only related to their coefficients and we successfully apply the general N-qubit W state to quantum state transfer and quantum state prepare like that in two-qubit system

    Investigating cellular recognition using crispr/cas9 genetic screening.

    Neighbouring cells can recognise and communicate with each other by direct binding between cell surface receptor and ligand pairs. Examples of cellular recognition events include pathogen entry into a host cell, sperm-egg fusion, and self/nonself discrimination by the immune system. Despite growing appreciation of cell surface recognition molecules as potential therapeutic targets, identifying key factors contributing to cellular recognition remains technically challenging to perform on a genome-wide scale. Recently, genome-scale clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) knockout or activation (CRISPR-KO/CRISPRa) screens have been applied to identify the molecular determinants of cellular recognition. In this review, we discuss how CRISPR-KO/CRISPRa screening has contributed to our understanding of cellular recognition processes, and how it can be applied to investigate these important interactions in a range of biological contexts.     Markowitz portfolio theory and capital asset pricing model for Kuala Lumpur stock exchange: a case revisited

    Capital Asset Pricing Model is widely used by investors to estimate the return or the moving behavior of the stock and Markowitz Model is employed to achieve portfolio diversification. This study examine whether CAPM is valid to forecast the behaviour of the each individual stock and its return as well as its validity in the portfolio with stocks listed in Malaysia. Second, it evaluates the suitability of Markowitz Model to evaluate the performance of the Malaysia investment portfolio. This is done within the framework of 2010 to 2014 using weekly data of 60 companies. OLS unbiased estimator, autocorrelation and heterodasticity problems are to be conducted to test the validity of the model. It is concluded that CAPM is reasonable to be the indicator of stock prices in Malaysia as well as in portfolio basket. It proves that there is linearity in CAPM but unique risk and systematic do not need to be captured. Managers can use CAPM as a proxy to estimate their stock return and diversify the portfolio to reduce the unsystematic risk to enable them to execute the right policy in their management in order to maximise profit at the same time increase shareholder wealth maximisation. Furthermore, it is suggested to apply Markowitz portfolio diversification to reduce the unsystematic risk. Overall, portfolio diversification could build up the investors’ confidence towards the investment decision and to develop a sound investment financial market in assisting Malaysia to achieve its mission to be a developed country in 2020
