Comparative analysis of React, Next and Gatsby programming frameworks for creating SPA applications
This article presents a performance analysis of some of the most popular development frameworks based on the React library. The aim of the study was to show which of the technologies used to create the visual parts of web applications is the most efficient. The research was conducted with the use of 3 applications representing the same research content but based on the above-mentioned frontend technologies. In order to evaluate the performance, web browser development tools and React library were used, which proved that vanilla React is the most efficient for rendering pages with a lot of data
The importance of serotonin in the gastrointestinal tract
Introduction. Serotonin also called as 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) is a very important neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, also plays an important role in the gastrointestinal tract. It is known that the basis of the peristaltic reflex in the gut is the result of serotonin release from enterochromaffin cells. The vast majority of serotonin in the human body is associated with the gastrointestinal tract. It is produced by enterochromaffin cells, the activation of which causes the serotonin secretion into the intercellular space and its active action through the receptors. There are seven main types of serotonin receptors and some of them have also subtypes.Description of the current knowledge and conclusions. Serotonin is responsible for some symptoms of carcinoid syndrome. It is the result of higher 5-hydroxytryptamine content in the body. Moreover disrupted serotonin system is found in different gastrointestinal disorders e.g. in gastroesophageal reflux disease, functional heartburn, hypersensitive esophagus, functional dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome (both diarrhoea predominant and constipation predominant) as well as in inflammatory bowel diseases. Knowledge of changed mechanisms in particular diseases facilitates the optimal choice of treatment. Drugs affecting the serotonin system in gastroenterological clinical practice are useful especially in the case of abnormalities in the brain - gut axis
RADIal versus femoral approach for percutaneous coronary interventions in patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction (RADIAMI): A prospective, randomized, single-center clinical trial
Background: The transradial approach for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) seems
to be superior to transfemoral. The safety and efficacy of transradial approach for PCI in acute
myocardial infarction is not well-established.
Methods: Hundred patients with acute myocardial infarction qualified to PCI were randomly
assigned to transradial (group I; n = 50) and transfemoral (group II; n = 50) approaches.
Results: PCI was successful for almost all patients, except one from group II. There were no
significant differences between groups in X-ray exposition, volume of contrast and total procedure
duration. Small but significant elongation of door to stent time in group I was caused
mostly by a longer time between beginning of procedure and arterial sheath introduction.
Major bleeding complications occurred in three patients from group I and seven from group II.
There were no significant differences observed between the two groups. Time to ambulation in
group I was significantly shorter then in group II (22.6 ± 10.3 h vs. 34.7 ± 34.6 h; p = 0.003).
Conclusions: The transradial approach for PCI in acute myocardial infarction has the same
efficacy as transfemoral. There are no differences in total procedure duration, X-ray exposition
or volume of contrast between the two approaches. A longer time from the patient’s admission
to the individual stages of the PCI procedure in group I was mostly due to the longer times of
the initial stages of the procedure. The use of transradial approach reduces the time to ambulation
and allows rehabilitation to begin sooner. In both groups, bleeding complications occurred
rarely
Screening for hepatocellular carcinoma
Introduction and purpose of the work. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignant tumours all over the world. It is considered to be the sixth malignant tumour in terms of incidence. It is also characterized by high mortality rate, which, depending on the geographic region, gives the second or third place on the list of cancer related death. There are many known risk factors for the development of hepatocellular carcinoma, the most important of which is liver cirrhosis. Thus the cirrhotic patients are generally accepted for screening. Actually it is recommended to perform abdominal ultrasound every 6 months in this group. Other forms of screening are also tested.
Description of the current knowledge and conclusions.
Literature review provides indisputable evidences for the need of screening for liver cancer. Doubts remain only about the appropriateness of widening the screening group and possibly extending the scope of diagnostic tools.
The authors, by analyzing the available knowledge for hepatocellular carcinoma screening, consider the qualification of actually recommended screening tests to be insufficient in countries with high incidence. Relatively high incidence of HCC, even greater mortality in the context of all cancers, safety, low cost and universal access to ultrasound, should, in the opinion of the authors, be enough for the consideration to widen the screening guidelines in countries with high incidence of HCC. In countries with low incidence, e.g. in Poland, the screening in healthy population do not belong to the priority
Assessing the Cross-Cultural Validity of the Succession, Identity and Consumption (SIC) Scale Across Four French-Speaking Countries
French-speaking countries are aging fast, forcing them to accommodate their older population and, most likely, generating ageism. The present study aims to investigate this issue by examining the cross-cultural validity of a scale assessing prescriptive ageism: the Succession, Identity, Consumption scale. In four French-speaking countries (Canada, France, Belgium and Switzerland), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) results reveal the suitability of both a three-factor 15-item model and a higher-order factor model. Multiple-group CFA revealed measurement invariance of both models across countries. MIMIC (Multiple Indicators MultIple Causes) modeling showed that the Canadians obtained the highest ageism scores, followed by the French, Belgians, and Swiss. Second, using dynamic indicators of socioeconomic parameters, we observed that rapid aging populations and additional pressure on the workforce could be viewed as key factors for understanding global ageism as well as succession and consumption-based prescriptions
Background and aim: Currently, cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) is recommended only for New York Heart Association (NYHA) class IV ambulatory patients. However, some recent reports have suggested that CRT could also be beneficial for end-stage inotrope-dependent heart failure (HF) NYHA class IV patients. In this report, we summarise the results of CRT implantation in a group of 11 HF inotrope-dependent patients who were not candidates for urgent orthotopic heart transplantation (OHT).Methods and results: Between August 2006 and June 2011, 11 end-stage inotrope-dependent HF patients with wide QRS complex, ineligible for urgent OHT, were implanted with CRT in the Silesian Centre for Heart Diseases in Zabrze. Dependence on inotropic therapy was defined as an inability to stop the infusion of the drug without the occurrence of hypotension, oligooranuria and/or hypoxaemia. All patients were successfully implanted with CRT and subsequently weaned from inotropes in a median time of two (1–17) days. Mean QRS duration shortened from 190 ± 34 ms at baseline to 142 ± 25 ms (p < 0.001) after the procedure. Average left ventricular ejection fraction increased from 19 ± 4% to 25 ± 4% (p < 0.001). All patients were discharged from hospital. Median hospital stay after the procedure was ten (5–56) days. During the median follow-upof 1,212 (182–2,048) days, four patients died (one due to arrhythmic storm, three others due to progressive pump failure). During that period, 57 adequate device interventions occurred in three patients, including 52 therapies in one fatal case. Conclusions: CRT can be an alternative for end-stage inotrope-dependent HF patients with wide QRS who are ineligible for urgent heart transplantation.
Studia Prawnicze. Rozprawy i Materiały 2022, nr 1 (30)
Słowo wstępne: "Mamy ogromny zaszczyt przekazać Państwu kolejny numer czasopisma „Studia
Prawnicze. Rozprawy i Materiały”.
Konferencji Naukowej „LegalTech, Artificial Intelligence and
the Future of Legal Practice” (I JURISTECH); to doniosłe wydarzenie odbyło
się w Krakowie w dniach 10–11 czerwca 2021 r. w Krakowskiej Akademii
im. Andrzeja Frycza Modrzewskiego, w formule hybrydowej. W obecnym
numerze prezentujemy kolejne opracowania pokonferencyjne.
Z satysfakcją zauważamy, że wielu Autorów powiązanych z innymi systemami
prawnymi chętnie publikuje artykuły językowe na łamach naszego
czasopisma.
Mioduszewskiej Mental simulations, imaginations and emotions – a short
empirical legal study. Nie można również zapomnieć o wieńczącym numer
tekście, w którym dr Iga Bałos i dr Katarzyna Jasińska przedstawiają zmarłego
niedawno profesora Janusza Szwaję, którego dorobek naukowy dla wielu
pokoleń prawników niewątpliwie stanowić będzie cenny punkt odniesienia.
Mamy nadzieję, że lektura czasopisma skłoni Państwa do refleksji nad zagadnieniami
omówionymi w opublikowanych tekstach i da asumpt do przygotowania
prac do nich nawiązujących. Jednocześnie serdecznie zapraszamy do
nadsyłania artykułów naukowych, sprawozdań, glos i recenzji do publikacji
na łamach przyszłych numerów „Studiów Prawniczych. Rozpraw i Materiałów”. Życzę udanej lektury!"(...
