Preliminary study on Se-enriched Lentinula edodes mycelium as a proposal of new feed additive in selenium deficiency
The presence of selenium in European soil is low and this causes its deficiency in livestock and, in consequence, in humans. This study aimed to obtain Lentinula (L.) edodes mycelium with the maximum content of selenium. This species was used for experiment based on its documented medicinal properties. Calves were fed with selenium-enriched L. edodes mycelium, and serum selenium concentration, average daily weight gains and selected immune parameters were estimated. The selenium-enriched mushroom was found to be safe based on cytotoxicity tests (MTT and LDH tests) and for this reason it was used for further experiments. The mean quantity of selenium in the serum of calves fed with selenium-enriched L. edodes mycelium was significantly higher than that of control calves. Additionally, the calves fed with selenium-enriched L. edodes mycelium had higher body weight gains than those of control calves. White blood cell counts and subpopulations of lymphocytes in the experimental and control calves were within the reference range. The administration of L. edodes enriched with selenium had a beneficial effect on state of health of the calves
Dimorphic outlook on children's creative attitudes on the verge of education application of creative and re-constructive attitudes rating scale (SPTO)
This study has been devoted to creative attitudes represented by 6 – 7-year old children, evaluated by the creative and re-constructive attitudes rating scale (SPTO)1. The central focus was to relate differences in attitudes among children commencing their education at the age of 6 to those who had started their
school attendance before the reform (at the age of 7). An attempt was made to answer the question whether pupils differing in the year of birth, joined within one school form, would generate any disruption of their potential creativity. A complementary issue was to evaluate the level of creative attitudes along the dimorphic pattern
La conservazione preventiva del patrimonio librario come possibile alternativa al restauro tradizionale
The present paper focuses on the close relation between library collections and their preservation environment, aiming, in particular, at highlighting the importance of promoting and sustaining the monitoring. The paper proposes some simple and ready-to-use technologies – smart monitoring – to prevent future damages
First experience with left atrial arrhythmia ablation using a bidirectional steerable transseptal sheath (Vizigo) visible in the CARTO system as a method to reduce fluoroscopy
In this report we present ablations of complex left atrial arrhythmias in 3 male patients using the bi-directional steerable transseptal sheath (Visigo) which is visualizable by the 3D electro-anatomical system. Ablations of complex left atrial (LA) arrhythmias were performed in 3 patients. In the first 2 patients typical transseptal punctures were performed, followed by mapping with the LassoNav catheter and PVI (one patient also had isolation of the posterior segment). The last patient had a residual atrial septal leak, therefore ablation without fluoroscopy was attempted. An anatomical map of the right atrium was made. The ablation catheter and the Vizigo sheath were introduced into the LA through the leak in the septum. LA, pulmonary veins and 3 tachycardia loops were mapped. Lines were made in the roof of LA, in the mitral isthmus and within the atrial septum, restoring the sinus rhythm. Times of procedures/fluoroscopy were: 185, 185, 205min / 5.5; 3.8 and 0min. In the group of the last 10 previous ablations, these times were respectively: 209±48min/5,6±1,8 min. We conclude that the Vizigo sheath reduces the risk of electrode and sheath dislocation into the right atrium and the need for fluoroscopic verification during maneuvers performed with the sheath. It is also a step towards simpler left atrial ablation without the use of fluoroscopy
Izolacja żył płucnych w migotaniu przedsionków — serce w sercu na walentynki
We present a case of the patient with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in whom pulmonary veinisolation was performed using the CARTO system, the “ablation index” algorithm, and the“close” protocol. A bidirectional steerable Vizigo sheath visible in the 3D system, were usedfor the treatment. This sheath allows to reduce the radiologica l exposure of the patient. The ablation line around the right pulmonary veins created the image of “the heart in theheart”, which we dedicate to all lovers on St. Valentine Day.W pracy przedstawiono opis przypadku pacjenta z napadowym migotaniem przedsionków,
u którego wykonano izolację żył płucnych z użyciem systemu CARTO, algorytmu „ablation
index”, protokołu „close”. Do zabiegu wykorzystano sterowalną koszulkę Vizigo, widoczną
w systemie 3D. Koszulka ta pozwala zredukować obciążenie radiologiczne pacjenta. Linia

Quality of meat from young crossbred bulls frozen after 14 days of modified atmosphere storage
The quality of the longissimus lumborum muscle (Holstein-Friesian Black-and-White- HF BW x Belgian Blue - BB bulls) was determined after 14 days of storage under different modified atmospheres (MA) (vacuum; 40% CO2 + 60% N2; 30% CO2 + 70% Ar) and 6 months of frozen storage following 14 days of MA storage. Weight loss and cooking loss were smaller, and drip loss was greater after frozen storage compared with refrigerated storage. The pH of stored meat was typical of high-quality beef. TBARS values increased after refrigerated storage and after frozen storage. The changes in color parameters point to metmyoglobin formation in frozen meat. Both refrigerator and freezer storage had beneficial influence on tenderness, and shear force values decreased in frozen beef. The composition of MA during refrigerated storage had no effect on the analyzed parameters of beef. Frozen meat that was stored in a MA containing Ar prior to freezing was characterized by the lowest weight loss, and vacuum-packaged meat - by the lowest TBARS values
