The study aims to present the incidence of COVID-19 in pediatric patients undergoing renal replacement therapy (RRT) and to compare the severity and outcomes of the disease between the dialysis and kidney transplant (KTx) groups. This multicenter observational study was conducted between 1 April and 31 December 2020 in Istanbul. Members of the Istanbul branch of the Turkish Pediatric Nephrology Association were asked to report all confirmed cases of COVID-19 who were on RRT, as well as the number of prevalent RRT patients under the age of 20. A total of 46 confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported from 12 centers, of which 17 were dialysis patients, and 29 were KTx recipients. Thus, the incidence rate of COVID-19 was 9.3% among dialysis patients and 9.2% among KTx recipients over a 9-month period in Istanbul. Twelve KTx recipients and three dialysis patients were asymptomatic (p = 0.12). Most of the symptomatic patients in both the dialysis and KTx groups had a mild respiratory illness. Only two patients, one in each group, experienced a severe disease course, and only one hemodialysis patient had a critical illness that required mechanical ventilation. In the entire cohort, one hemodialysis patient with multiple comorbidities died. Conclusion: While most cases are asymptomatic or have a mild disease course, pediatric patients undergoing dialysis and a kidney transplant are at increased risk for COVID-19. What is Known: In adult population, both dialysis patients and kidney transplant recipients are at increased risk for severe illness of COVID-19 and have higher mortality rate. Children with kidney transplantation are not at increased risk for COVID-19 and most have mild disease course. Data on children on dialysis are scarce. What is New: Pediatric patients undergoing dialysis and kidney transplantation have an increased risk for COVID-19. Most patients undergoing renal replacement therapy either on dialysis or transplanted develop asymptomatic or mild COVID-19 disease with a favorable outcome

Erkek kerevitlerde abdomen et verimlerinin, kıskaç et verimleri ve toplam et verimlerinin sırasıyla %10.03, % 4.60 ve %14.63 olduğu, dişi kerevitlerde abdomen et verimlerinin, kıskaç et verimleri ve toplam et verimlerinin sırasıyla %11.59, % 2.73 ve % 14.32 olduğu belirlendi.n this study, determination of morphometric analysis and meat yields were aimed in male and female crayfish caught from Aktaş Lake, where commercial crayfish hunting is prohibited. The length distribution of 157 crayfish (nmale= 81 and nfemale= 76) was examined in the study. It was determined that there was a strong linear relationship between carapace length and weight of both male and female crayfish (r ♂ = 0.962, r ♀ = 0.976, r ♂ + ♀ = 0.9712). The "b values" obtained as a result of regression analysis showed that male crayfish had positive weight gain, and female crayfish had negative weight gain, and all individuals had positive allometric weight gain (b♂= 3.041, b♀= 2.954 ve b♂+♀=3.0167). It was shown that there was a linear relationship between abdominal meat quantities and carapace lengths of male and female crayfish. Abdominal meat yield, chelae meat yield and total meat yield in male crayfish was 10.03%, 4.60% and 14.63%, respectively, abdominal meat yield, chelae meat yield and total meat yield in female crayfish was 11.59%, 2.73% and 14.32%, respectively

BACKGROUND: The aromatic amino acid L-tryptophan is a versatile molecule and needed for the biosynthesis of proteins. Due to metabolic functions, it has been widely used in research and clinical trials. OBJECTIVE: The present study aimed to test the usefulness of L-tryptophan as an extender of Tigris scraper (Capoeta umbla) sperm during cryopreservation. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Semen samples were diluted with a ratio of 1:3 (sperm: extender) and base extenders were supplemented with L-tryptophan (0 mM, 0.5 mM, 1 mM, 2 mM and 4 mM). Sperm motility and duration of post-thawed samples were assessed after the cryopreservation process. RESULTS: Our results revealed that motility rate and duration of sperm increased when the cryomedia was supplemented with L-tryptophan. On the other hand, an increase in the concentration of L-tryptophan in the extender caused a significant decrease (p<0.05) in the motility rate of Tigris scraper (C. umbla) sperm. The ideal results were obtained at 1 mM L-tryptophan; however, no motile sperm were shown in any samples when a concentration of 2 mM was used. CONCLUSION: The current study shows the importance of conducting further studies related to long-term storage and reproduction managemen
