This research was carried out in order to investigate self-esteem of high school teachers in Erzurum while making decision and their decision making styles in terms of some variables. In the research, descriptive survey method which aimed to reveal current situation, was used. A total of 160 teachers -of whom 37 are female and 123 are male- working in high schools in Erzurum in 2018-2019 spring semester, participated in the research. In the research, “Melbourne Decision Making Questionnaire” developed by Mann et al. (1998) and adapted to Turkish by Deniz (2004) and “Personal Information Form” developed by researchers were used as data collection tool. Independent Samples T-Test was used in paired comparisons and one-way Anova test was used in multiple comparisons. In multiple comparisons, Tukey-test was used in order to determine between which groups difference existed. Margin of error was considered as 0.05 in this study. As a result of the research, when demographic variables were examined, it was seen that postponer decision making style which is sub-dimension of scale of self-esteem in decision making and decision making styles differentiated according to gender variable of the participants. It was seen that carefully decision making dimension which is sub-dimension of decision making styles scale differentiated significantly according to administrative function variable; and also in age variable, avoidant decision making and panic decision making sub-dimensions which are sub-dimensions of decision making styles scale differentiated significantly. In professional seniority variable, it was determined that avoidant decision making sub-dimension which is sub-dimension of decision making styles scale differentiated significantly

Statistical Evaluation and Optimization of Factors Affecting the Leaching Performance of Copper Flotation Waste

    Get PDF
Copper flotation waste is an industrial by-product material produced from the process of manufacturing copper. The main concern with respect to landfilling of copper flotation waste is the release of elements (e.g., salts and heavy metals) when in contact with water, that is, leaching. Copper flotation waste generally contains a significant amount of Cu together with trace elements of other toxic metals, such as Zn, Co, and Pb. The release of heavy metals into the environment has resulted in a number of environmental problems. The aim of this study is to investigate the leaching characteristics of copper flotation waste by use of the Box-Behnken experimental design approach. In order to obtain the optimized condition of leachability, a second-order model was examined. The best leaching conditions achieved were as follows: pH = 9, stirring time = 5 min, and temperature = 41.5°C

Nowadays, there has been an increasing count of actively social media using individuals. This new kind of media which is used by most of the population can generate an impact on users’ tendencies. Recreation activities increase individuals’ quality of life and provide them some physical, social, and psychological benefits. Individual’s participation to these recreation activities facilitate development primarily to the participant himself and then to the society. In this context, this study is an examination of active recreation tendencies on social media using individuals. It was conducted with 379 participants who studies at Higher Education in Sports. In order to measure social media users’ active recreation tendencies, a questionnaire based on the Recreational Exercise Motivation Measure which has the reliability and validity of Turkish version made by Gurbuz, Asci and Celebi (2006) and originally developed by Rogers and Morris (2003) and the Facebook Intensity Scale developed by Ellison, Steinfield and Lampe (2010) were prepared and used. According to Cronbach Alpha (α=0,878) the questionnaire found reliable. In order to analyze the results besides descriptive statistics of socio-demographics, the questionnaire was factor analyzed and three dimensions as physical, social and psychological tendency are obtained. Mann Whitney U and Kruskall Wallis tests are used to determine whether there are any significant differences.   Article visualizations

Wild emmer wheats exhibit a potential genetic resource for wheat improvement and increased food production. In this study, different accessions of wild emmer wheat, Triticum dicoccoides, were studied for their Zn deficiency tolerance which is particularly prevalent in wheat leading to significant reduction in yield and nutritional quality of grains. T.dicoccoides, selected from a screening study, were grown under Zn deficient conditions. Three T. durum wheats, Balcali 85, Ç-1252 and Meram, were also included in this study as standard. Increasing data are being accumulated to identify proteins that are involved in Zn deficiency. Hence, ZIP family of metal transporter proteins are extensively being studied. In this study, identification of cDNA encoding ZIP transporter protein in wild emmer wheat was studied. The result revealed that cDNA does not have high level of polymorphism compared to cultivated wheats. The expression of identified ZIP transcript was measured using root and shoot of plants subjected to Zn deficiency. Quantitative Real-time PCR results revealed that ZIP transcript levels are elevated with decreasing Zn supply in all accessions. ZIP transcript accumulation was lower in root of MM5/4 accession, which is the most tolerant accession to Zn deficiency, than that of 19-36 accession, which is one of the most susceptible accessions. This is most likely because the susceptible genotype senses the Zn deficiency stress earlier than the tolerant does so that the response of 19-36 root cells are much quicker than the response of MM 5/4 root cells. The low level expression and the absence of ZIP transcript at 10-4 M Zn concentration suggested that this ZIP metal transporter found in these accessions was Zn-specific

Spina bifida is a frequently seen congenital anomaly which is compatible with life. During the embryological period the defects in the closure of neural tube leads to open or closed spinal dysraphism. At the present day with the improving neurochirurgical techniques, the patients multidisciplinary follow-ups became important as a matter of the health quality. To prevent and to determine the urological complications some approaches became standardized. In the long term period all accompanying pathologies have to be beared in the mind in addition to neurosurgical prognosis and the patients must have to be guided indeed. The aim of this review is to look over the urological problems and the last studies about these problems in spina bifida patients
