Dynamic equation for quantum Hall bilayers with spontaneous interlayer coherence: The low-density limit
The bilayer systems exhibit the Bose-Einstein condensation of excitons that
emerge due to Coulomb pairing of electrons belonging to one layer with the
holes belonging to the other layer. Here we present the microscopic derivation
of the dynamic equation for the condensate wave function at a low density of
electron-hole () pairs in a strong magnetic field perpendicular to the
layers and an electric field directed along the layers. From this equation we
obtain the dispersion law for collective excitations of the condensate and
calculate the electric charge of the vortex in the exciton condensate. The
critical interlayer spacing, the excess of which leads to a collapse of the
superfluid state, is estimated. In bilayer systems with curved conducting
layers, the effective mass of the pair becomes the function of the
pair coordinates, the regions arise, where the energy of the pair is
lowered (exciton traps), and lastly pairs can gain the polarization in
the basal plane. This polarization leads to the appearance of quantized
vortices even at zero temperature.Comment: 8 page
Order parameter phase locking as a cause of a zero bias peak in the differential tunneling conductance of bilayers with electron-hole pairing
In n-p bilayer systems an exotic phase-coherent state emerges due to Coulomb
pairing of n-layer electrons with p-layer holes. Unlike Josephson junctions,
the order parameter phase may be locked by matrix elements of interlayer
tunneling in n-p bilayers. Here we show how the phase locking phenomenon
specifies the response of the electron-hole condensate to interlayer voltages.
In the absence of an applied magnetic field, the phase is steady-state (locked)
at low interlayer voltages, V<V_c, however the phase increases monotonically
with time (is unlocked) at V>V_c. The change in the system dynamics at V=V_c
gives rise to a peak in the differential tunneling conductance. The peak width
V_c is proportional to the absolute value of the tunneling matrix element
|T_{12}|, but its height does not depend on |T_{12}|; thus the peak is sharp
for small |T_{12}|. A sufficiently strong in-plane magnetic field reduces
considerably the peak height. The present results are in qualitative agreement
with the zero bias peak behavior that has recently been observed in bilayer
quantum Hall ferromagnets with spontaneous interlayer phase coherence.Comment: 6 pages, extended version, phenomenological derivation of the main

Родственная трансплантация почки - первый опыт в клинической больнице Святителя Луки
Kidney transplantation (KT) is regarded as the most effective therapeutic approach for people with end-stage renal disease. However, for a number of reasons - constant increase in the incidence of diseases contributing to formation and development of chronic kidney disease, as well as continuing shortage of donor organs - 78-95% of patients in need of a kidney transplant do not receive the necessary treatment, and the waiting list stretches for several years. This paper presents the first outcomes of KT for chronic glomerulonephritis performed at St. Luke’s Clinical Hospital in St. Petersburg, in collaboration with the staff of Shumakov National Medical Research Center of Transplantology and Artificial Organs. Трансплантация почки является наиболее эффективным видом медицинской помощи пациентам с терминальной почечной недостаточностью. Однако по ряду причин (постоянное увеличение частоты встречаемости заболеваний, способствующих формированию и развитию хронической болезни почек, а также сохраняющийся дефицит донорских органов) 78-95% пациентов, нуждающихся в пересадке почки, не получают необходимого лечения, а очередь в листах ожидания растягивается на несколько лет. On properties of the space of quantum states and their application to construction of entanglement monotones
We consider two properties of the set of quantum states as a convex
topological space and some their implications concerning the notions of a
convex hull and of a convex roof of a function defined on a subset of quantum
states.
By using these results we analyze two infinite-dimensional versions (discrete
and continuous) of the convex roof construction of entanglement monotones,
which is widely used in finite dimensions. It is shown that the discrete
version may be 'false' in the sense that the resulting functions may not
possess the main property of entanglement monotones while the continuous
version can be considered as a 'true' generalized convex roof construction. We
give several examples of entanglement monotones produced by this construction.
In particular, we consider an infinite-dimensional generalization of the notion
