Arstide liidu üldkogu pidas korralise aastakoosoleku 4. detsembril Haapsalus. Üldkogu kinnitas EAL tegevuse aruanded, kehtestas 2005. aasta liikmemaksu ja eelarve. Liikmemaks tõuseb peamiselt streigifondi osa suurenemise tõttu, kasvavad ka organisatsiooni tegevuskulud, eelkõige soovime arendada tööd arstieetika valdkonnas

Training high school teachers in post-warTartu State UniversityAfter World War II the heavy sovietisation of Estonian educationbegan. The key persons of this process were undoubtedly teachers,preferably those who had arrived from the Soviet Union (especiallyEstonians from Russia) or young people taught in Estonia in thespirit of new educational ideas. A great shift took place in the Estonianteacher community at that time. Altogether 4,176 teachers areknown to have been fired, dismissed at their own request or transferredto another position during the period of 1946–1950. The onlycounterbalance was preparing new teachers locally. In the post-waryears, high school teachers were trained only at Tartu State University,which was exceptional in the Soviet Union because elsewhere itwas mainly done in pedagogical institutes.The article studies the substantial and formal changes in the sovietisationof teacher training that were realised through complyingwith union-wide regulations and pedagogical trends. Similarities anddifferences are also outlined. Secondly, the process of making teachertraining obligatory at Tartu State University and its importance inproviding Estonian schools with local staff is explored. Thirdly, thearticle attempts to disclose the role and activity of various peoplerelated to pedagogy at the time in this process. The study is mainlybased on new and practically unused archive sources related to thehistory of the University of Tartu.During the era of Stalinism, teacher training became obligatoryfor everyone in the University of Tartu faculties that taught subjectsalso covered by general education schools. In the 1940s therewere few university graduates, incl. teachers, but since the springof 1950 the number of people who were appointed as teachers fromTartu State University increased significantly. The establishment ofthe Tallinn Pedagogical Institute in 1952 added a second educationalinstitution in Estonia that trained high school teachers and helpedprovide the schools with local staff. It was mainly the service of the chairs of pedagogy that teacher training persisted at the Universityof Tartu. However, it was the service of the specialisation chairs thatteachers received an education, which was, to a great extent, in thespirit of the traditions of the independence era. Therefore, the compulsoryteacher training of the university contributed much to educatinguniversity graduate, Estonian-minded, Estonian and Russianspeaking teachers for Estonian schools to counter the Russian-mindedand Russian speaking teachers who were appointed to Estoniafrom elsewhere

SNOMED CT – elektroonilise haigusloo loomise vahend

SNOMED CT on instrument kliinilise haigusloo kodeerimiseks, viimiseks arvutiga töödeldavasse vormi. Nomenklatuuri ülesehitus püüab säilitada tekstilise väljenduse nüansirikkust, andes samal ajal võimaluse kliiniliste andmete töötlemiseks tänapäevaste infotehnoloogiliste vahenditega. Arvutitehnoloogia avab kvaliteetse andmetöötluse pakutavad võimalused oma kogemustest õppimiseks, kliiniliseks uurimistööks, ravikvaliteedi hindamiseks. Automatiseeritud ristkaardistussüsteemid võimaldavad oluliselt vähendada meedikute ajakulu rutiinsele statistiliste ja arveldusandmete töötlusele. Kliinilise nomenklatuuri ülesehitus on keerukas ja tema kasutamine nõuab kodeerija eriväljaõpet. Eesti Arst 2011; 90(10):466–47

Personalities of Russian amateur botany, 3. Ivan M. Schvetzov and Theodor S. Nenukow, prominent experts in the flora of Nizhni Novgorod Region, and the taxonomic identity of plant species described by Nenukow

Ivan Schvetzov collected many specimens of vascular plants, fungi, mosses and lichens mostly from the western part of Nizhni Novgorod Region of Russia, including the original collections of Cytisus ruthenicus var. zingeri Nenukow. Theodor Nenukow was a prominent amateur botanist from Nizhni Novgorod. He studied the flora of Nizhni Novgorod Region, weed and meadow flora of Central Russia and vascular plants of Estonia. He described a few infraspecific taxa and two species of vascular plants, Valeriana estonica Nenukow (synonymised here with V. officinalis subsp. tenuifolia (Vahl) Schübl. & G.Martens) and Odontites estonicus Nenukow (a synonym of O. vulgaris Moench), and the basionym for Cytisus zingeri (Nenukow) V.I.Krecz. (a glabrous variety of C. ruthenicus Fisch. ex Otto). The places of valid publication are clarified for C. ruthenicus var. zingeri and Persicaria linicola, and the lectotype is designated for C. ruthenicus var. zingeri.Peer reviewe

Estonian Caddisflies (Insecta: Trichoptera). An annotated checklist

Achecklist of 190 species of Estonian caddisflies is compiled based on literature and voucher material in collections at Estonian University of Life Sciences. 31 species are listed first time for the country while 159 taxa were referred to in literature. Two taxa are rejected as possible misidentifications (Diplectrona felix and Molanna submarginalis). 25 species are listed in Estonian Red Data book. Geographical distribution of Trichoptera both in Estonia and along the east shore of Baltic Sea is reviewed in brief
