    Transmediale workshops and publications

APRJA is an annual open-access research journal (of which Cox is co-founder and co-editor) produced in collaboration with Transmediale festival for art and digital culture in Berlin. The title “A Peer-Reviewed Journal About” invites the addition of a specific research topic to complete the full title of each issue, broadly addressing the annual festival theme, and following an iterative form: following an open call released through Transmediale, participants collaborate online, and join a research workshop to exchange ideas. Subsequently they produce short articles for a (newspaper) publication distributed at the festival, alongside a public event, held at Haus der Kulteren der Welt, Berlin. Researchers are then invited to develop longer scientific papers for the online journal. The aim is to promote research by a new generation of researchers and promote the very latest thinking in the field. The overall aim of APRJA is to publish new research that promotes open access but without losing sight of rigorous academic conventions of peer-review. Since 2014, all submissions are anonymized and distributed to independent qualified experts via our advisory board and extended networks. The combined sharing of work online, as part of the workshop and the public presentation at Transmediale further qualifies the academic rigour of submissions through peer critique. The partnership with Transmediale, the foremost festival for art and digital culture in Europe, brings the journal widespread attention, and an engaged specialist audience and readership. In addition, each issue of the journal is underpinned by wider partnerships with other key institutions to form an expanding network of collaboration: Kunsthal Aarhus (2014); City University Hong Kong (2015); Liverpool John Moores University & Liverpool Biennial (2016); Constant Association for Art and Media, Brussels (2017); Brandenburg Center for Media Studies – ZeM, Potsdam (2018); CRASSH, University of Cambridge (2019); Global Emergent Media Lab, Concordia University (2020)

Engaging with a history of counselling, spirituality and faith in Scotland: a readers' theatre script

    Get PDF
This paper presents an abbreviated version of a verbatim script developed from oral history interviews with individuals key to the development of counselling and psychotherapy in Scotland from 1960 to 2000. Earlier versions were used in workshops with counsellors and pastoral care practitioners to share counter-narratives of counselling and to provide opportunities for conversations about historical and contemporary relationships between faith, spirituality, counselling and psychotherapy. By presenting intertwined histories in a readers' theatre script, the narrative nature of lives lived in context was respected. By bringing oral histories into virtual dialogue with each other and with contemporary practitioners, whether through workshops or through publications, the interplay between individual, institutional and societal narratives remains visible and open to change

Improving performance through concept formation and conceptual clustering

    Get PDF
Research from June 1989 through October 1992 focussed on concept formation, clustering, and supervised learning for purposes of improving the efficiency of problem-solving, planning, and diagnosis. These projects resulted in two dissertations on clustering, explanation-based learning, and means-ends planning, and publications in conferences and workshops, several book chapters, and journals; a complete Bibliography of NASA Ames supported publications is included. The following topics are studied: clustering of explanations and problem-solving experiences; clustering and means-end planning; and diagnosis of space shuttle and space station operating modes

The Lab is a new research unit within the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas, and has been created to conduct research and provide leadership on the study of the American College President. Through policy briefings, publications, workshops, grant writing, and hosting speakers, the NLSCP provides national direction for research on college leaders

Improving root cause analysis through the integration of PLM systems with cross supply chain maintenance data

    Get PDF
The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate a system architecture for integrating Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems with cross supply chain maintenance information to support root-cause analysis. By integrating product-data from PLM systems with warranty claims, vehicle diagnostics and technical publications, engineers were able to improve the root-cause analysis and close the information gaps. Data collection was achieved via in-depth semi-structured interviews and workshops with experts from the automotive sector. Unified Modelling Language (UML) diagrams were used to design the system architecture proposed. A user scenario is also presented to demonstrate the functionality of the system

THE ROLE OF RESEARCH WORKSHOPS IS TO INCREASE PUBLICATION INTEREST IN ACCREDITED JOURNALS

    Get PDF
This study aims to determine the interest of final year students who are completing their final project to make publications in reputable journals. At present, 9 criteria accreditation requires a lot of publications from students while the climate of publication of student work is still not well formed. Therefore, activities and policies are needed to build a culture of publication. Research workshops are one way to encourage students to make publications. This study uses final year students who are finishing their final assignments as respondents/ workshop participants. The goal is that the results of their final project can be published directly in a reputable journal. The results showed that after attending the workshop, the majority of respondents gave positive responses related to the workshop activities and had a high enough interest to do the publication. The results of this study have practical implications for policy makers to regularly conduct research workshops for students

    Electron Cloud Effects in Accelerators

We present a brief summary of various aspects of the electron-cloud effect (ECE) in accelerators. For further details, the reader is encouraged to refer to the proceedings of many prior workshops, either dedicated to EC or with significant EC contents, including the entire "ECLOUD" series [122]. In addition, the proceedings of the various flavors of Particle Accelerator Conferences [23] contain a large number of EC-related publications. The ICFA Beam Dynamics Newsletter series [24] contains one dedicated issue, and several occasional articles, on EC. An extensive reference database is the LHC website on EC [25].Comment: 8 pages, contribution to the Joint INFN-CERN-EuCARD-AccNet Workshop on Electron-Cloud Effects: ECLOUD'12; 5-9 Jun 2012, La Biodola, Isola d'Elba, Ital
