In recent years, the field of digital imaging has made significant progress, so that today every smartphone has a built-in video camera that allows you to record high-quality video for free and without restrictions. On the other hand, rapidly growing internet technology has contributed significantly to the widespread use of digital video via web-based multimedia systems and mobile smartphone applications such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, etc. However, as the recording and distribution of digital videos have become affordable nowadays, security issues have become threatening and spread worldwide. One of the security issues is identifying source cameras on videos. There are some new challenges that should be addressed in this area. One of the new challenges is individual source camera identification (ISCI), which focuses on identifying each device regardless of its model. The first step towards solving the problems is a popular video database recorded by modern smartphone devices, which can also be used for deep learning methods that are growing rapidly in the field of source camera identification. In this paper, a smartphone video database named Qatar University Forensic Video Database (QUFVD) is introduced. The QUFVD includes 6000 videos from 20 modern smartphone representing five brands, each brand has two models, and each model has two identical smartphone devices. This database is suitable for evaluating different techniques such as deep learning methods for video source smartphone identification and verification. To evaluate the QUFVD, a series of experiments to identify source cameras using a deep learning technique are conducted. The results show that improvements are essential for the ISCI scenario on video

Dashboard cameras (\dashcams") are becoming an important in-car accessory used to record audio and visual footage of car journeys. The audio/video footage produced by dashcams have become important items of evidence. This paper explores the problems related to the management and processing of dashcam evidence, and in particular, highlights challenges to the admissibility of evidence submitted online. The key contribution of this paper is to outline the results of an experiment which aimed to reveal the prevalence and provenance of artefacts created by the use of dashcams on the SD storage system of seven dashcam systems. The research describes the provenance of evidential artefacts relating to: the dashcam recording mode, GPS data, vehicular speed data, licence plate data, and temporal data which was found in at least six locations - namely: NMEA files, configuration/diagnostic files, EXIF metadata, directory structures, filename structures and imagery watermarks

The scientific problematic of this PhD is centered on the usage of Visible LightCommunications (VLC) in automotive applications. By enabling wireless communication amongvehicles and also with the traffic infrastructure, the safety and efficiency of the transportation canbe substantially increased. Considering the numerous advantages of the VLC technologyencouraged the study of its appropriateness for the envisioned automotive applications, as analternative and/or a complement for the traditional radio frequency based communications. In order to conduct this research, a low-cost VLC system for automotive application wasdeveloped. The proposed system aims to ensure a highly robust communication between a LEDbasedVLC emitter and an on-vehicle VLC receiver. For the study of vehicle to vehicle (V2V)communication, the emitter was developed based on a vehicle backlight whereas for the study ofinfrastructure to vehicle (I2V) communication, the emitter was developed based on a traffic light.Considering the VLC receiver, a central problem in this area is the design of a suitable sensorable to enhance the conditioning of the signal and to avoid disturbances due to the environmentalconditions, issues that are addressed in the thesis. The performances of a cooperative drivingsystem integrating the two components were evaluated as well. The experimental validation of the VLC system was performed in various conditions andscenarios. The results confirmed the performances of the proposed system and demonstrated thatVLC can be a viable technology for the considered applications. Furthermore, the results areencouraging towards the continuations of the work in this domain.

La novità editoriale di quest’anno è rappresentata da uno spazio dedicato a brevi contributi a cura di giovani autori vincitori dei premi AISRe.Europe is today crossed by a strong demand for autonomy from the territories: to protect the identity of local communities and, also analyze the growing demand for a broader representation of citizens. However, these issues can jeopardize the objectives of balance and economic, social and territorial cohesion, which have always been at the center of the reflection and proposals developed by scholars of regional sciences. The recent crisis has worsened instability and widened the overall gaps between the regions, including in their internal dynamics of evolution. Economic resilience is not always matched, in the current transition towards a new paradigm, by maintaining solid levels of social cohesion and integration between areas and communities. The volume collects a selection of contributions presented at the XXXIX Italian Conference of Regional Science, held in Bolzano on 17, 18 and 19 September 2018. The volume is divided into three parts. The first analyzes the issue of the demand for autonomy by the territories within the economic and social development of regions and countries, and the current debate on differentiated federalism. In the second, the reflections extend to the growing disparity between central and peripheral areas, between internal and exposed areas, between North and South of countries and Europe, while in the third part, the analysis looks at the changing balance between territories and systems. urban and rural areas, between plains and mountains and, within mountain areas, between the most urbanized valleys and high altitude territories, areas often bordering provinces, regions and states. This year ia space is dedicated to short contributions by young authors who have won the AISRe Awards
