Introducing Importance-Performance-Impact Analysis (IPIA): A method to strategically prioritize resources allocation

    Get PDF
The importance–performance analysis (IPA) model has been widely used as a strategic resource allocation tool for improving customer satisfaction. There are several shortcomings associated with IPA which could lead to incorrect decisions. In this paper, we propose a novel analytical framework, the “Importance-Performance-Impact Analysis” (IPIA) to overcome those shortcomings so as to provide managers with a powerful decision making tool. The IPIA takes advantage of several advanced analytical techniques, such as Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN), Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) and Analytic Network Process (ANP). We illustrate IPIA using the case of an airline company in China. Two primary data sources were used: A passenger survey to obtain the attribute importance and performance, and an expert panel survey to obtain attribute impact. Resources allocation recommendations for improving passenger satisfaction were then derived from the IPIA. We discuss limitations and provide recommendations for future research

Sustainability Strategies of Indonesian Mega-Dairy Farm Business: a Case of Greenfields Indonesia

The increase of milk import in Indonesia can be anticipated through the development of dairy farms based on mega-farm. Indonesia has already got dairy farms that adopt the mega-farm, one of which is the Greenfields Indonesia (GFI). GFI has become an export-oriented company, so GFI needs to pay attention to its sustainability on their business processes. This study was conducted at Dairy farm of Greenfields Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to analyze the business sustainability factors and to evaluate the factors of GFI dairy farming business based on the success factor of sustainability relation structure. The combination of delphi fuzzy and DEMATEL (Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory) was used for data processing. The research results showed that the standardization of the company's management system was the first priority based on the relation structure. The priority could affect the resilience of farm models that depended on manure management impact and create animal care through the availability of management of feed and drinking water

AbstractIn the paper, support vector machine is proposed in IR target recognition. Grid method is used to select the appropriate parameters of SVM to avoid over-fitting due to the choice of inappropriate parameters. We employ coal mine IR monitoring images to testify the IR target recognition ability of SVM. And features and category of the coal mine IR monitoring images are given. The experimental results illustrate that the IR target recognition accuracy of SVM is 100%.Thus, SVM is an excellent IR target recognition method

Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) on Factors Affecting Agility of Iranian Auditing Organizations

    Get PDF
Many auditors are now encountering agile management methodologies for the first time. In some cases, this can cause problems for the audit process because the methodology is very different from traditional approaches. Aside from the difficulties faced by the auditor, an ineffective audit can have a negative effect on an agile project by giving a false impression of its progress. Much has been written on agility issues in organizations of various sizes. However, there have been very few studies that attempt to delineate critical issues that drive importance-performance analyzing (IPA) among an organization. This paper aims to propose an Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) on Factors Affecting Agility of Iranian Auditing Organizations

Examining Academic Service using Importance Performance Analysis (IPA)

Measure of academic services is crucial in finding out the quality of service in every level of education. The objective of this study is providing an overview of academic service quality by using importance performance analysis (IPA). Thirty respondents involved in this study are students of Muhammadiyah Secondary School around South Sulawesi, Indonesia to assure the respondents' homogeneous. This study reveals that the academic services such as the availability of resources, the syllabus dissemination, teacher discipline, monitoring of students, and sharing information are still relatively low. This study exposes that the academic service, which makes students experiencing pleased is the principal who provides available time for parents to solve students' problem together with counselor. In addition, this study also finds that level of expectation is less important in affecting the students' satisfaction on academic service

The purpose of this study is to analyze the description of the quality of academic services by using the importance of performance analysis (IPA). The sample of research is 40 respondents from the National Informatics Polytechnic Student of Makassar. Quantitative data analysis techniques using Importance Performance Analysis (IPA). The results showed that the quality of service has given positive response / good that was seen from the services provided by employee/staffs and lecturers in providing student academic services. The weaknesses in the provision of services such as: the classroom learning facilities and campus attention to the talents and interests of students is still low, the limitations of references in the library and the campus funding transparency have not been yet opened

Applying Important Performance Analysis for Jabodetabek Commuter Train Services

People's mobility in the Greater Jakarta area requires effective and efficient transportation services. At present, many modes of transportation are competing to improve the quality of services to the users, which include the commuter trains that are managed by PT. Kereta  Commuter Indonesia (PT. KCI). Research is needed to determine the level of services provided by PT. KCI. Here, the researcher analyzes the effectiveness of the services of the Jabodetabek commuter train of Bogor - Tanah Abang route, especially the services at Bogor and Manggarai stations as well as on the train. The research was carried out through a questionnaire survey that produced primary data. The secondary data was obtained from PT. KCI for further processing. The method used is the validity, reliability, Importance Performance Analysis, and Normality testing by using SPSS software. The results of the research shows that PT. KCI needs to increase the number of toilets at Bogor Station, to add the first-aid kits at Bogor and Manggarai Station, to increase the number of waiting chairs at Manggarai Station, to add stairs for platforms whose height are not the same as the train floor at Manggarai Station, and to improve the performance of security officers and the awareness of the users about the use of priority passengers seats.

DEMATEL-ANP risk assessment in oil and gas construction projects

    Get PDF
Oil and gas construction projects are complex and risky because of their dynamic environment. Furthermore, rising global energy demand has increased the need for trustworthy risk assessment models for such projects that can provide adequate and precise policy planning. Traditional risk assessments in oil and gas construction projects do not consider the interrelationships of factors in the best-fit models. The Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) and Analytic Network Processes (ANP), called the DEMATEL-ANP approach, have been applied to other research disciplines to address this shortcoming. This method is able to construct a structural relationship among the different influence factors to visualize complex correlations. Thus, the purpose of this study is to showcase the DEMTAL-ANP risk assessment model to assess the overall risk factors of OGC projects. This study thus identifies the crucial risk criteria of such projects. Data were collected in 2016 through interviews with experts active in OGC projects in Iran. DEMATEL in this situation is used to determine the interdependencies' relative strengths among the risks. The ANP method is applied to assess the relative importance of the risk factors and to determine the best strategy for implementation of a risk management program. The results presented in this study are a novel adaptation of the risk assessment methodology to OGC projects that determines the important risk factors that directly affect the project success, which in turn helps in formulation of policies for ensuring reliable energy supply planning
