The 2005 European e-Business Readiness Index
Assessment of the eEurope 2005 Action Plan Benchmarking Index “E-Business Readiness Composite Indicator” using data collected by National Statistical Institutes and harmonised by Eurostat, using surveys “ICT usage of enterprises”, with reference years 2003 and 2004. This report contains data from 26 countries as collected in 2004 and as reported by Eurostat in June 2005. The contour tree image encoding technique and file format
The process of contourization is presented which converts a raster image into a discrete set of plateaux or contours. These contours can be grouped into a hierarchical structure, defining total spatial inclusion, called a contour tree. A contour coder has been developed which fully describes these contours in a compact and efficient manner and is the basis for an image compression method. Simplification of the contour tree has been undertaken by merging contour tree nodes thus lowering the contour tree's entropy. This can be exploited by the contour coder to increase the image compression ratio. By applying general and simple rules derived from physiological experiments on the human vision system, lossy image compression can be achieved which minimises noticeable artifacts in the simplified image. The contour merging technique offers a complementary lossy compression system to the QDCT (Quantised Discrete Cosine Transform). The artifacts introduced by the two methods are very different; QDCT produces a general blurring and adds extra highlights in the form of overshoots, whereas contour merging sharpens edges, reduces highlights and introduces a degree of false contouring. A format based on the contourization technique which caters for most image types is defined, called the contour tree image format. Image operations directly on this compressed format have been studied which for certain manipulations can offer significant operational speed increases over using a standard raster image format. COSMIC monthly progress report
Activities of the Computer Software Management and Information Center (COSMIC) are summarized for the month of May 1994. Tables showing the current inventory of programs available from COSMIC are presented and program processing and evaluation activities are summarized. Nine articles were prepared for publication in the NASA Tech Brief Journal. These articles (included in this report) describe the following software items: (1) WFI - Windowing System for Test and Simulation; (2) HZETRN - A Free Space Radiation Transport and Shielding Program; (3) COMGEN-BEM - Composite Model Generation-Boundary Element Method; (4) IDDS - Interactive Data Display System; (5) CET93/PC - Chemical Equilibrium with Transport Properties, 1993; (6) SDVIC - Sub-pixel Digital Video Image Correlation; (7) TRASYS - Thermal Radiation Analyzer System (HP9000 Series 700/800 Version without NASADIG); (8) NASADIG - NASA Device Independent Graphics Library, Version 6.0 (VAX VMS Version); and (9) NASADIG - NASA Device Independent Graphics Library, Version 6.0 (UNIX Version). Activities in the areas of marketing, customer service, benefits identification, maintenance and support, and dissemination are also described along with a budget summary

The Long Wavelength Array Software Library
The Long Wavelength Array Software Library (LSL) is a Python module that
provides a collection of utilities to analyze and export data collected at the
first station of the Long Wavelength Array, LWA1. Due to the nature of the data
format and large-N (100 inputs) challenges faced by the LWA, currently
available software packages are not suited to process the data. Using tools
provided by LSL, observers can read in the raw LWA1 data, synthesize a filter
bank, and apply incoherent de-dispersion to the data. The extensible nature of
LSL also makes it an ideal tool for building data analysis pipelines and

Methodology to optimize fluid-dynamic design in a redox cell
[EN] The present work is aimed at the optimization of a redox cell design. The studied redox cell consists on a
device designed to convert the energy of reactants into electrical energy when a liquid electrolyte reacts
at the electrode in a conventional manner. In this particular sort of cells, the two electrolytes are present
and separated by a proton exchange membrane. Therefore, the flow of the electrolyte and the interaction
with the membrane takes a paramount importance for the general performance of the cell. A methodology
for designing the inlet part of the cell based on optimizing the uniformity of the flow and the initial
position of the membrane is presented in this study. This methodology, based on the definition and
optimization of several parameters related to the electrolyte flow in different regions of the geometry, is
depicted. The CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) model coupled with the statistical study pointed to
several practical conclusions on how to improve the final geometry construction of the redox cell. A
particular case study of redox cell is implemented in order to validate the proposed methodology[ES] El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo la optimización de un diseño de la batería redox. La pila redox estudiada consiste en un dispositivo diseñado para convertir la energía de los reactivos en energía eléctrica cuando un electrolito líquido reacciona en el electrodo de una manera convencional .
