Chat Group Language Identity: Analysis of Rebus and Graphic Games in Chatrooms

The object of this paper is to analyze the lexicon of the chat conversations which is characterized by the great feeling of wanting to belong to the chat group community. The identity and crypto-recreational functions of the chat are visible through the analyzed phenomena like truncation with apocope, clipping and syncope, loans from English and also the creation of rebus and graphic games. All this constitutes a real transgression of the conventional orthography, at the same time that allows a great pleasure playing with the language. It really represents a new way of transcribing words using less space, that is better adapted to the principles of time and space saving. These rebus and graphic games are a particular case of identity expression by the chat users. The recreational aspect of this language allows the community to develop and enrich it continuously.Cet article a pour objectif d’analyser les conversations chatiennes en français, en espagnol et en polonais afin de montrer le caractère identitaire de la cybercommunauté. Le caractère crypto-ludique des conversations est observable à travers différents procédés utilisés dans les discours de chat tels que la troncation, les jeux graphiques, ainsi que les rébus. Par ailleurs, ces pratiques linguistiques constituent une transgression langagière par rapport au langage standard. En somme, l’analyse des discours chatiens produits dans trois langues visent à mettre en évidence à la fois l’universalité de certains procédés, ainsi que l’aspect identitaire du cybergroupe.Publication financée par la Faculté de Philologie de l’Université de Lodz

Une éclatante discrétion : Jean Paulhan et le pouvoir dans les lettres

Omniprésent dans les discours sur Jean Paulhan, le mythe de l’éminence grise n’a pourtant guère été objet d’analyse. Pour voir ce qui se cache et se dévoile dans ce cliché vivace, l’auteur examine les textes qui le mettent en forme et les déterminations socio-historiques présidant à son émergence. On découvre ainsi que Paulhan transforme le flou inhérent au capital social en énigme à déchiffrer et qu’un ethos du secret anime aussi bien ses récits et critiques que sa pratique de la sociabilité.Although present everywhere in discourses on Jean Paulhan, the myth of the éminence grise has yet hardly been the subject of analysis. To see what is both hidden and revealed in this lively cliché, the author examines the texts that shaped it and the socio-historical determinations that presided at its emergence. We thereby discover that Paulhan transforms the vagueness inherent in social capital into an enigma to unravel, and that an ethos of the secret drives his narratives and critical works as much as it does his practice of sociability
