Simultaneous Obstacle Avoidance and Target Tracking of Multiple Wheeled Mobile Robots With Certified Safety

    Get PDF
Collision avoidance plays a major part in the control of the wheeled mobile robot (WMR). Most existing collision-avoidance methods mainly focus on a single WMR and environmental obstacles. There are few products that cast light on the collision-avoidance between multiple WMRs (MWMRs). In this article, the problem of simultaneous collision-avoidance and target tracking is investigated for MWMRs working in the shared environment from the perspective of optimization. The collision-avoidance strategy is formulated as an inequality constraint, which has proven to be collision free between the MWMRs. The designed MWMRs control scheme integrates path following, collision-avoidance, and WMR velocity compliance, in which the path following task is chosen as the secondary task, and collision-avoidance is the primary task so that safety can be guaranteed in advance. A Lagrangian-based dynamic controller is constructed for the dominating behavior of the MWMRs. Combining theoretical analyses and experiments, the feasibility of the designed control scheme for the MWMRs is substantiated. Experimental results show that if obstacles do not threaten the safety of the WMR, the top priority in the control task is the target track task. All robots move along the desired trajectory. Once the collision criterion is satisfied, the collision-avoidance mechanism is activated and prominent in the controller. Under the proposed scheme, all robots achieve the target tracking on the premise of being collision free

A Novel Artificial Organic Controller with Hermite Optical Flow Feedback for Mobile Robot Navigation

    Get PDF
This chapter describes a novel nature-inspired and intelligent control system for mobile robot navigation using a fuzzy-molecular inference (FMI) system as the control strategy and a single vision-based sensor device, that is, image acquisition system, as feedback. In particular, FMI system is proposed as a hybrid fuzzy inference system with an artificial hydrocarbon network structure as defuzzifier that deals with uncertainty in motion feedback, improving robot navigation in dynamic environments. Additionally, the robotics system uses processed information from an image acquisition device using a real-time Hermite optical flow approach. This organic and nature-inspired control strategy was compared with a conventional controller and validated in an educational robot platform, providing excellent results when navigating in dynamic environments with a single-constrained perception device

The thesis deals with the problem associated with the path constraints and kinematic constraints of wheeled mobile robots. It also deals with the analysis of kinematic characteristics of the wheeled mobile robots and developing a kinematic model, including the path constraints and kinematic constraints equations. From the analysis of established kinematic model some factors which affect the path tracking problem for a wheeled mobile robot, are taking into account. Considering the analysis of Fuzzy Logic, the path followed by the autonomous wheeled mobile robot determine. And from the Fuzzy Logic graph the left wheel velocity and right wheel velocity are determined. A robot arena has been devised by a MATLAB program to determine the path that the robot should follow avoiding all obstacles to reach its target

Since last several years requirement graph for autonomous mobile robots according to its virtual application has always been an upward one. Smother and faster mobile robots navigation with multiple function are the necessity of the day. This research is based on navigation system as well as kinematics model analysis for autonomous mobile robot in known environments. To execute and attain introductory robotic behaviour inside environments(e.g. obstacle avoidance, wall or edge following and target seeking) robot uses method of perception, sensor integration and fusion. With the help of these sensors robot creates its collision free path and analyse an environmental map time to time. Mobile robot navigation in an unfamiliar environment can be successfully studied here using online sensor fusion and integration. Various AI algorithm are used to describe overall procedure of mobilerobot navigation and its path planning problem. To design suitable controller that create collision free path are achieved by the combined study of kinematics analysis of motion as well as an artificial intelligent technique. In fuzzy logic approach, a set of linguistic fuzzy rules are generated for navigation of mobile robot. An expert controller has been developed for the navigation in various condition of environment using these fuzzy rules. Further, type-2 fuzzy is employed to simplify and clarify the developed control algorithm more accurately due to fuzzy logic limitations. In addition, recurrent neural network (RNN) methodology has been analysed for robot navigation. Which helps the model at the time of learning stage. The robustness of controller has been checked on Webots simulation platform. Simulation results and performance of the controller using Webots platform show that, the mobile robot is capable for avoiding obstacles and reaching the termination point in efficient manner

Now a day’s robots play an important role many applications like medical, industrial, military, transportation etc. navigation of mobile robot is the primary issue in now a days. Navigation is the process of detection and avoiding the obstacles in the path and to reach the destination by taking the surrounding information from the sensors. The successful navigation of mobile robot means reaching the destination in short distance in short period by avoiding the obstacles in the path. For this, we are using fuzzy logic technique for the navigation of mobile robot. In this project, we build up the four-wheel mobile robot and simulation and experimental results are carried out in the lab. Comparison between the simulation and experimental results are done and are found to be in good

The purpose of this project is to implement an autonomous navigation system using nonlinear control techniques to control a wheeled mobile robot (WMR) to follow a preplanned trajectory and track a path. Two other aspects of navigation are studied: path planning and obstacle avoidance. Those three aspects are integrated into a navigation strategy that manages navigation and prevents deadlocks. Two nonlinear control techniques for path tracking and trajectory following have been developed and implemented. In the first approach, a fuzzy logic controller is used to drive the robot through a set of waypoints leading to the destination. In another approach, a controller derived from a Lyapunov function is used to track a reference trajectory that is time dependent. For path planning, a novel optimization technique based on dynamic programming has been developed. The curvature velocity method has been used for obstacle avoidance. The testing was conducted on a P3-AT all-terrain mobile robot equipped with encoders, a gyroscope, and sonar sensors for localization and environment perception. The test results validate the effectiveness of the different approaches that have been developed
