    Studying Relationship between the Approach of Business Reengineering and Performance "An Empirical Study on Food Companies Listed at the Amman Stock Exchange" )

    In Jordan, the changing dynamics of the industrial companies in general and food industry specially, forced players at all levels to re-engineering their business companies. This research aims to study the response and support food companies to the concept of business re-engineering. To measure the extent of support managements to apply the concept of re-engineering, the extent of availability requirements for the application of process re-engineering, and, to measure the extent of the application of re-engineering processes and its impact on the financial performance of food companies listed at the Amman Stock Exchange.The researchers studied the intellectual frame and scientific rooting for business reengineering to achieve study objectives. They have designed a questionnaire aimed to execute of the study problem variables in order to test hypotheses. The research suggested the following results: application of re-engineering have benefits for companies that are applied. It could improving their competitive, increasing market share, productions, efficiency, and cost reduction. There are a statistically significant relationship in the attitudes of the study sample towards the response and support management of companies, the availability of requirements of the application, and the impact of the application of business re-engineering to the performance on food companies. It recommended that reengineering process remains effective tools for companies needing to operate as effectively and efficiently. Companies are required to reengineering their business processes in order to achieve best performance and growth.     Business Process Instances Scheduling with Human Resources Based on Event Priority Determination

    International audienceBusiness Process Management (BPM) is concerned with continuously enhancing business processes. However, this cannot be achieved without an effective Resource allocation and a priority-based scheduling. These are important steps towards time, cost and performance optimization in business processes. Even though there are several approaches and algorithms for scheduling and resource allocation problems, they do not take into consideration information gathered from past process executions, given the stateless aspect of business processes. Extracting useful knowledge from this information can help achieving an effective instance scheduling decisions without compromising cost or quality of service. In this paper, we pave the way for a combination approach which is based on unsupervised machine learning algorithms for clustering and genetic algorithm (GA) to ensure the assignment of the most critical business process instance tasks, to the qualified human resource while respecting several constraints such as resource availability and reliability, and taking into consideration the priority of the events that launch the process instances. A case study is presented and the obtained results from our experimentations demonstrate the benefit of our approach and allowed us to confirm the efficiency of our assumptions

    Managing food security in Malaysia: a resource-based view (RBV) analysis

    This study was carried out in a case study approach with intended research focus of examining the impact of the intangible resources and tangible resources on the growth of the seed industry in Malaysia. The strategic management of food security in Malaysia became the main concern in this study. It is clear that food security has become an important focus and widely debated issue built on four dimensions; food availability, food stability, food accessibility and food utilization. In the Resource-Based view (RBV) perspective, the focus has been directed towards business start-up as a resource acquisition process, where the availability of unique resources is presumed to promote industry development.The findings revealed that a focus on both tangible and intangible resource development that includes, funds, land, technology, a skilled workforce, policy and brands reputation is likely to generate the most growth within the seed industry. In addition,firms with valuable resources stand a better chance of growth but due to some limitations, government supports are needed, particularly on intangible resources. The resource-based view (RBV) of the firm suggests that positive competitive outcomes are largely attributable to an organizations’ idiosyncratic resources. Hence, this study will help to link and identify the capabilities of both tangible and intangible resouces to fullfill RBV requirements in order to develop more effective support system for seed industry in Malaysia

This study evaluates the impact and impediments to maximum utilization of ICT in enhancing management functions in the Nigerian Public Sector. For BITA has been developed several models which in general has focused in the implementation of alignment strategies for the internal operation of the organizations and in the measurement of this internal alignment, but, there is still a big gap in measurement models of the alignment with the external environment of the organizations.     Maintenance Strategies to Reduce Downtime Due to Machine Positional Errors

    Manufacturing strives to reduce waste and increase Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). When managing machine tool maintenance a manufacturer must apply an appropriate decision technique in order to reveal hidden costs associated with production losses, reduce equipment downtime competently and similarly identify the machines’ performance. Total productive maintenance (TPM) is a maintenance program that involves concepts for maintaining plant and equipment effectively. OEE is a powerful metric of manufacturing performance incorporating measures of the utilisation, yield and efficiency of a given process, machine or manufacturing line. It supports TPM initiatives by accurately tracking progress towards achieving “perfect production.” This paper presents a review of maintenance management methodologies and their application to positional error calibration decision-making. The purpose of this review is to evaluate the contribution of maintenance strategies, in particular TPM, towards improving manufacturing performance, and how they could be applied to reduce downtime due to inaccuracy of the machine. This is to find a balance between predictive calibration, on-machine checking and lost production due to inaccuracy. This work redefines the role of maintenance management techniques and develops a framework to support the process of implementing a predictive calibration program as a prime method to supporting the change of philosophy for machine tool calibration decision making.     A planned study of the impact of B2C logistics service quality on shopper satisfaction and loyalty

    Purpose of the paper: This paper reports on an in-progress study of the impact of business to consumer (B2C) logistics service quality (LSQ) on in-store shopper satisfaction and loyalty. Methodology: A comparative research approach is being used across the UK, France and Germany to also investigate country-specific differences of consumer shopping behaviour and channel strategies. The first stage, in-line with a deliberate integrated supply chain approach, consists of structured in-depth interviews conducted with managers at the producer/retailer interface, e.g. producer category captains and retail category managers. This qualitative stage will be followed-up by a quantitative survey stage targeting consumers as shoppers to determine how their expectations of retail LSQ and associated activities influence their satisfaction and ongoing loyalty. Findings: A broad literature review has generated over 40 variables of interest for both LSQ and loyalty, and almost 10 variables of satisfaction. This study will contribute theoretically by considering a B2C setting for LSQ, which is the final aspect of point of origin to point-of-consumption, whereas most general LSQ literature and LSQ’s impact on customer satisfaction and loyalty has been dominated by business to business (B2B) designs from point-of-origin to point of sale, that is they assume consumer expectations are a given or a different domain. Research limitations: Although covering three major European grocery retail markets, this study might not be considered as representative, especially when adopting a world-wide perspective. Practical implications: As this study emphasises consequences of B2C LSQ on downstream or consumer satisfaction and loyalty, rather than considering the upstream origins of related problems that dominate extant research, it will contribute practically by providing managers with an understanding of the components of LSQ considered critical by consumers

    The economic-driven evaluation of information technology (IT) has become an important instrument in the management of IT projects. Numerous approaches have been developed to quantify the costs of an IT investment and its assumed profit, to evaluate its impact on business process performance, and to analyze the role of IT regarding the achievement of enterprise objectives. This paper discusses approaches for evaluating IT from an economic-driven perspective. Our comparison is based on a framework distinguishing between classification criteria and evaluation criteria. The former allow for the categorization of evaluation approaches based on their similarities and differences. The latter, by contrast, represent attributes that allow to evaluate the discussed approaches. Finally, we give an example of a typical economic-driven IT evaluation
