    On the learning of vague languages for syntactic pattern recognition

    The method of the learning of vague languages which represent distorted/ambiguous patterns is proposed in the paper. The goal of the method is to infer the quasi-context-sensitive string grammar which is used in our model as the generator of patterns. The method is an important component of the multi-derivational model of the parsing of vague languages used for syntactic pattern recognition

    Sentiment Analysis has paved routes for opinion analysis of masses over unrestricted territorial limits. With the advent and growth of social media like Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat in today’s world, stakeholders and the public often takes to ex-pressing their opinion on them and drawing conclusions. While these social media data are extremely informative and well connected, the major challenge lies in incorporating efficient Text Classification strategies which not only overcomes the unstructured and humongous nature of data but also generates correct polarity of opinions (i.e. positive, negative, and neutral) . This paper is a thorough effort to provide a brief study about various approaches to SA including Machine Learning, Lexicon Based, and Automatic Approaches.     Indonesian and Malay are underrepresented in the development of natural language processing (NLP) technologies and available resources are difficult to find. A clear picture of existing work can invigorate and inform how researchers conceptualise worthwhile projects. Using an education sector project to motivate the study, we conducted a wide-ranging overview of Indonesian and Malay human language technologies and corpus work. We charted 657 included studies according to Hirschberg and Manning's 2015 description of NLP, concluding that the field was dominated by exploratory corpus work, machine reading of text gathered from the Internet, and sentiment analysis. In this paper, we identify most published authors and research hubs, and make a number of recommendations to encourage future collaboration and efficiency within NLP in Indonesian and Malay

    Machine learning for solving charging infrastructure planning problems : a comprehensive review

    As a result of environmental pollution and the ever-growing demand for energy, there has been a shift from conventional vehicles towards electric vehicles (EVs). Public acceptance of EVs and their large-scale deployment raises requires a fully operational charging infrastructure. Charging infrastructure planning is an intricate process involving various activities, such as charging station placement, charging demand prediction, and charging scheduling. This planning process involves interactions between power distribution and the road network. The advent of machine learning has made data-driven approaches a viable means for solving charging infrastructure planning problems. Consequently, researchers have started using machine learning techniques to solve the aforementioned problems associated with charging infrastructure planning. This work aims to provide a comprehensive review of the machine learning applications used to solve charging infrastructure planning problems.     Deep Transfer Learning for Automatic Speech Recognition: Towards Better Generalization

    Automatic speech recognition (ASR) has recently become an important challenge when using deep learning (DL). It requires large-scale training datasets and high computational and storage resources. Moreover, DL techniques and machine learning (ML) approaches in general, hypothesize that training and testing data come from the same domain, with the same input feature space and data distribution characteristics. This assumption, however, is not applicable in some real-world artificial intelligence (AI) applications. Moreover, there are situations where gathering real data is challenging, expensive, or rarely occurring, which can not meet the data requirements of DL models. deep transfer learning (DTL) has been introduced to overcome these issues, which helps develop high-performing models using real datasets that are small or slightly different but related to the training data. This paper presents a comprehensive survey of DTL-based ASR frameworks to shed light on the latest developments and helps academics and professionals understand current challenges. Specifically, after presenting the DTL background, a well-designed taxonomy is adopted to inform the state-of-the-art. A critical analysis is then conducted to identify the limitations and advantages of each framework. Moving on, a comparative study is introduced to highlight the current challenges before deriving opportunities for future research
