Online Project Management for Dynamic e-Collaboration

    Get PDF
Today’s collaborative projects demand efficient and productive software application tools for the workplace that will bring remote teams together to get the work done. Dynamic e-collaboration is a necessity for virtual relations and business agreements. It depends on two distinct factors: trust and need. This paper presents a way to manage remote teams using a web application developed with ColMap model of project management in an IT company. The information exposed and shared applications with partners in collaborative projects are based on RBAC. Group collaboration and management software has been proven to successfully manage and coordinate projects.Dynamic E-collaboration, Collaboration Model, Web Application

Simple tools for hr performance evaluation in Argentinean sme

    Get PDF
In Argentina SME turn out to be a major player in the economic and social environment, representing more than 90% of the total registered companies, and being the country's largest employer, surpassing the 60% of formal registered employees. However, a comparative analysis between the last two national censuses -2004 and 2014- shows an industrial decline with respect to large companies, highlighting a substantial deterioration in its economic growth and envisaging the need to work on their structural competitiveness. Consequently, SME require a special focus of attention in order to sustain their activity, working on competitive aspects in order to enhance employees’ performance levels, for example, by implementing simple Performance Evaluation (PE) tools that can be used to professionalize their organization and, ultimately, help to sustain their structural competitiveness. The hypothesis of this study -which was corroborated- suggests that a simple PE tool, based on Administration By Objectives (ABO) can provide with significant benefits in terms of HR management while improving Argentinean SME structural competitiveness. It was used a quali-quantitative methodology, with a qualitative predominance. The study was exploratory and descriptive, with a not experimental and transversal design

The Case for Kairos: The Importance of Moment and Manner in Software Engineering Communication

    Get PDF
Students preparing for software engineering careers need to be proficient in the mechanics of communication and experienced in the basic communication genres common to the profession. We argue, however, that this is not enough: students must also be prepared for the inventive, in-the-moment nature of real project communication. Choosing the right moment and manner for inventive discourse is the essence of kairos, a long-standing concept in the field of rhetoric. We find similarities between the concept of kairos and the role of communication in agile software development methods. We argue for the need to address kairos in software engineering education. We present an approach, based on the concept of cognitive apprenticeship, that we have used in a team software project course with successful results. Finally, we pose two important challenges: how to evaluate kairotic awareness across a student\u27s academic career and beyond, and how to make software engineering instructors feel comfortable covering communication topics

Integration of Artificial Intelligence into Recruiting Young Undergraduates: the Perceptions of 20–23-Year-Old Students

    Get PDF
As applicants that might be subject to artificial intelligence (AI) in recruitment, students aged 20–23 years old were consulted using a qualitative approach employing focus groups. This study found that young undergraduates see AI as the future face of recruitment regardless of its challenges. Our findings are very similar to those of previous studies; however, differences arose regarding how profitable young undergraduates perceived AI and how AI should be used in recruitment. In addition, this study presents a preliminary framework for the integration of AI into recruiting young undergraduates. The framework states that AI is useful in all stages of recruiting, yet to different extents in different phases. AI is most useful in phases where grunt work is involved, and despite the integration of AI, the human touch should still be present in recruiting activities

New Rules for a New Era: Regulating Artificial Intelligence in the Legal Field

    Get PDF
As Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to evolve at a rapid pace, many industries have already started integrating new technologies to reduce costs and labor. While this is practical for some industries, the legal industry should be cautious before fully integrating AI. Some legal-service providers are already developing and offering new AI products. But the legal industry must approach these new products with some skepticism. While AI may eventually bring positive changes to the legal industry, AI currently has many flaws. This can create negative unintended consequences for attorneys and judges that are unaware of these flaws. Further, AI is not yet ready to replace attorneys in many key areas of representation. Consequently, the legal industry should proactively take steps to regulate itself and restrict the use of AI in the legal industry until it is ripe for integration
