The scientometric analysis of the term "compliance" is used in the article, which is used to denote the organization's continuous efforts to comply with all local and foreign laws, regulations and rules applicable to its activities, including its own internal corporate policies and procedures. For many years, compliance has been emphasized solely in industries that are traditionally tightly regulated, such as health care and financial services. However, after the anti-corruption legislation came into force in Ukraine and Hungary, all industries began to be regulated quite rigidly, and for each legal entity (or division) there was a need for strict monitoring of compliance by industrial enterprises with countless existing laws, regulations and regulations. Ultimately, the essence of a reliable compliance program is not only to avoid investigations, but mostly to shape the ethical environment in which the business will prosper. At present, compliance technologies are increasingly being used in the marketing activities of industrial enterprises

REQUIREMENT ANALYSIS FOR PROCESS-CENTRIC CONTINUOUS MONITORING

    Get PDF
With the emergence of mission-critical real-time systems becoming ever more important to the competitive strategies of corporations and their e-business and supply-chain models, an increasing number of process controls are being embedded into information systems, and co-processed with business transaction thus providing for the continuous monitoring of business operations. A parallel trend in the auditing industry is towards continuous auditing, able to provide management with real-time auditing of the functioning of controls and of business transactions, thus enhancing significantly management’s ability to ensure compliance and make key business decisions. Continuous auditing requires that information systems are developed not only to fulfill business requirements but also continuous monitoring of transactions and other compliance and control requirements. This integration of business systems and their controls within a process-centric logic necessitates a likewise integration of their development processes. Subsequently existing tools and techniques for requirements analysis need to be recast within a hybrid and integrated approach dubbed requirement analysis for process-centric continuous monitoring or RA-PCCM, which consists of the concurrent analysis of operational systems, information systems, the control system, and the management system. Whilst efforts exist within the auditing community to outline a process-driven methodology for developing continuous auditing systems, this paper argues for integrating control development for continuous monitoring within the fold of information system development, hence restricting auditors to control monitoring assurance

Mastering The Journey To Continuous Compliance: Process Improvements For Excelling At CCNE Accreditation

    Get PDF
The accreditation process of a nursing program requires self-assessment, peer evaluation, and identifying areas of improvement. In 2008, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) began offering a 10-year accreditation with a Continuous Improvement Progress Report (CIPR) at the fifth year. This article focuses on an in-depth analysis of a system in which the school of nursing utilized an ad hoc committee to complete the CIPR. Reports generated by the ad hoc committee concluded that need for improvement was warranted related to policy review. An action plan for continuous compliance generated implementation of policy software and the creation of an academic support specialist position. An ad hoc committee completed the CIPR rather than paying faculty overload hours; policy was an exemplar. Faculty development, team performance, and accountability resulted in a plan for continual compliance that can be adopted in other nursing schools to meet CCNE accreditation

The article shows the necessity of monitoring the quality of education. The main educational criteria of the process of ensuring the higher education (monitoring activities, academic integrity) are highlighted. The essence of the concepts is revealed: monitoring the quality of education (presented in two aspects: first, compliance with specifications or standards; second, compliance with consumer requests). Levels of education monitoring (regional, institutional, international, national) are proposed. The need for continuous monitoring of the quality of education has been proved. Specific stages of education quality monitoring are highlighted. The requirements for the diagnostic tools and main functions (analytical and informational, prognostic, diagnostic, corrective) for monitoring have been submitted. To study the importance of these problem of future specialists professional training, methodological approaches (personal, system, competence, activity, benchmarking) have been determined

Labor standard compliance and the role of buyers: the case of the Cambodian garment sector

    Get PDF
This dissertation consists of four chapters investigating the role of buyers in regulating suppliers' compliance with labor standards in the Cambodian garment sector. The first chapter evaluates an innovative monitoring scheme of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in the Cambodian garment sector, Better Factories Cambodia (BFC). The findings suggest that monitoring standards and procedures are rigorous and positive impacts are felt in monitored factories. Nonetheless, BFC runs in parallel to state institutions and enforcement depends on buyers, throwing its sustainability into question. The second chapter examines the effects of 'reputation-conscious buyers' on labor standard compliance in supplier facilities. Using unique factory-level panel data, this chapter shows that factories producing for reputation-conscious buyers are associated with higher compliance levels than other factories, controlling for factory characteristics. Field interviews also demonstrate that reputation-conscious buyers regulate supplier compliance both 'reactively' and 'proactively.' The third chapter explores the determinants of labor standard compliance across different issue categories (i.e. contract, wage, hours, leave, welfare, occupational safety and health, fundamental rights). Suppliers of reputation-conscious buyers are consistently associated with better compliance levels across many different issue categories including fundamental rights. The result lends support to the behavioral theory rather than the deterrence theory of regulatory compliance and challenges claims that buyer-driven regulation produces effects that are confined only to visible and easyto-fix issues. The fourth chapter exploits original survey data and examines different channels through which buyers influence their supplier compliance. The findings suggest that the main channel linking buyers and supplier compliance-performance is the nature of their relationships: market-based relationships mediated through agents are systematically associated with poorer compliance performance than established relationships. The result suggests the need to develop longer-term buyer-supplier relationships marked by open dialogue, trust, and commitment, which in turn help to foster an environment supportive of continuous improvement in working conditions

Continuum Robots for Space Applications Based on Layer-Jamming Scales with Stiffness Capability

    Get PDF
Continuum robots, which have continuous mechanical structures comparable to the flexibility in elephant trunks and octopus arms, have been primarily geared toward the medical and defense communities. In space, however, NASA projects these robots to have a place in irregular inspection routines. The inherent compliance and bending of these continuum arms are especially suitable for inspection in obstructed spaces to ensure proper equipment functionality. In this paper, we propose a new solution that improves on the functionality of previous continuum robots, via a novel mechanical scaly layer-jamming design. Layer-jamming assisted continuum arms have previously required pneumatic sources for actuation, which limit their portability and usage in aerospace applications. This paper combines the compliance of continuum arms and stiffness modulation of the layer jamming mechanism to design new hybrid layer jamming continuum arms. The novel designs use an electromechanical actuation which eliminates the previous need for pneumatic actuation therefore making the hardware compact and portable

Management and disclosure of quality issues in forensic science: A survey of current practice in Australia and New Zealand

    Get PDF
The investigation of quality issues detected within the forensic process is a critical feature in robust quality management systems to provide assurance of the validity of reported results and inform strategies for continuous improvement and innovation. A survey was conducted to gain insight into the current state of practice in the management and handling of quality issues amongst the government service provider agencies of Australia and New Zealand. The results demonstrate the value of standardised quality system structures for the recording and management of quality issues, but also areas where inconsistent reporting increases the risk of overlooking important data to inform continuous improvement. With new international changes requiring mandatory reporting of quality issues, this highlights compliance challenges that agencies will face. This study reinforces the need for further research into the standardisation of systems underpinning the management of quality issues in forensic science to support transparent and reliable justice outcomes

Adherence is very important issue in any drug therapy especially in psychiatric illnesses. Medicines do not work if not taken and if taken in accordance with advice, provide maximum benefit in terms of positive clinical outcomes. Adherence is defined as the extent to which a patient's behavior coincides with medical or prescribed health advice. The term adherence is preferred over compliance. Non-adherence is a major risk factor for unfavorable clinical outcomes in psychiatry patients. Observational study was carried out at Nishtar Hospital, Multan; locate in Southern Punjab (Pakistan). A questionnaire was designed for this study “Adherence to drug therapy”. Results had shown that relapses occur because of non-adherence. Major reasons for non- adherence include inappropriate information given to patient (30%), worries about addiction to medicines (20%), worries about continuous long term use (10%) and others (40%), poor financial resources and non-availability of pharmacist etc. In conclusion adherence to medication regimen among patients with psychiatric disorders is poor. These findings suggest the need for new approaches for increasing patient compliance
