Model Matematika Tingkat Partisipasi Masyarakat dalam Pemilu di Indonesia

General elections in Indonesia are a means of people's sovereignty for the election of president and vice president as well as legislative officials which are carried out directly, publicly, freely, confidentially, honestly, and fairly every 5 years. One indicator of election success is the level of public participation. In every general election, there must be white groups or called abstainers who consciously do not exercise their right to vote for their own reasons. This group of abstainers can influence other people not to exercise their right to vote. In this paper, we discussed about the mathematical model of the level of public political participation in general elections. In this mathematical model, the abstainer-free equilibrium point, the abstainer equilibrium point, and the basic reproduction number will be determined. The analysis shows that for Ro<1, free abstainer equilibrium point is asymptotically stable and for R0>1, the abstainer equilibrium point is exists and asymptotically stable. Finally, a numerical simulation will be carried out to verify the results of the theoretical analysis. The numerical simulation shows that the condition of the abstainer-free population can be achieved but it takes a very long time

    Homeland Fascism

"It can't happen here." This has been the prevailing sentiment about the possible emergence of fascism in the United States since the rise of international fascism in the 1930s. Yet there are signs that it may already be happening, and at the highest levels of government... In their copiously researched and documented work the Schwendingers outline the structural transformations, policies, and practices that raise the prospect of fascist governance in the 21st Century US. They show that a homeland fascism has significant supports within the framework of American liberal democracy. This is an important analysis in a context in which concerns about fascist demagoguery and far right mobilization appear to be growing in the US and beyond

Implementation of Legal Protection for Journalists in Safeguarding Local Democracy

One of the reasons for the decline in Indonesia’s ranking in the freedom of the press and expression was due to the many cases of violence against journalists and the criminalization of those who expressed their opinions. Legal protection for journalists is a guarantee given by the government and the public to journalists in carrying out their journalistic duties. The study used an empirical legal approach or non- doctrinal research. This research was conducted in several media from 2011-2018 in Pekanbaru, Riau, Indonesia. The main findings of this study indicate that the phrase of ”protection” in the formulation of Law Number 40 of 1999 concerning the press has given rise to multiple interpretations which resulted in journalists experiencing pressure in carrying out their duties. In conclusion, it is highly recommended that the law should be revise

Servants of the people, abbreviated to SPs, are all those who hold office in politics and government. The people grant them power under the condition that they serve with integrity. But how do you do that? This book offers the necessary concepts, insights and guidelines. Each of the 95 chapters discusses one of the many facets of integrity, with plenty of positive and negative examples involving different kinds of SPs from different countries. The central message is that integrity has great power over SPs: it can make or break their careers. Muel Kaptein is a professor of ethics and integrity and a partner at KPMG
