    PACER, RECAP, and Free Law

    Get PDF
Tuesday, February 15, 2011 The RECAP project takes the movement surrounding using the Internet to foster greater government transparency to the judicial branch. Today, the U.S. government puts federal court records online in a system called PACER: Public Access to Electronic Court Records. PACER keeps documents behind a pay-wall and suffers many usability shortcomings. Fortunately, these public documents are not eligible for copyright, so once a document has been retrieved from PACER, it may be freely shared and reproduced. RECAP enables citizens to easily share federal court documents. The goal of this project is to publish an extensive archive to the public for free.https://digitalcommons.nyls.edu/iilp/1090/thumbnail.jp

Inclusion and Equity Committee Diverse Recruitment Task Force 3 “Qualitative/Community-Specific Data Gathering”

The Diverse Recruitment Task Force 3 was charged to “focus on a qualitative environmental scan of UNLV University Libraries’ current hiring practices” with the goal of understanding the staff perceptions of current cultural climate and recommending potential areas of focus for future changes. Task Force 3 initially planned a formal qualitative research project with IRB approval around interviewing Libraries’ staff on their experiences with the hiring process. However, this was changed to an informal town hall-style information sharing meeting after reviewing the timeline. Two meetings were held: one on November 19th, 2019 which focused on attendees’ reflections and experiences with the hiring process, and one on December 9th, 2019 which focused on attendees’ feedback on the recommendations of the other two task forces. Both meetings were approximately an hour long with about 20 attendees broken into four or five small groups at each meeting; a five minute recap of the Diverse Recruitment project was provided at the beginning with the rest of the time devoted to discussion. Notes were taken by task force members and then grouped by topic. See appendix for pre-prepared questions for each meeting

Effects of kelp canopy removal on young-of-the-year rockfish abundance, using two census methods

    Get PDF
In 1976 an experimental research project was initiated to examine the possible effects of the removal of a giant kelp, Macrocystis pyrifera, canopy in a central California kelp bed on Young-of-the-Year (YOY) fish populations. A total of 7823 fishes was captured and marked using freeze branding. Pre-canopy removal population estimates were made using the Schnabel method and post-canopy removal population estimates were made using the Petersen method (Lincoln Index). A significant (p < .0004) reduction of fish occurred immediately after the canopy was removed and the population remained at a reduced level for at least 60 days. This information warranted the creation of a second expanded project. In 1977 we established three study areas consisting of a kelp bed to be harvested (C), a kelp bed not to be harvested (NC) and a control kelp bed. We captured and marked over 82,000 YOY fish in Areas C and NC. Using the same statistical methods from the 1976 study, a significant reduction was found to occur in fish populations within harvested Area C and unharvested area NC: however, the reductions were not significantly different between the two areas. The large reduction in the fish population in the harvested area occurred when fish moved into the unharvested area. The large, unexpected reduction in fish numbers in the unharvested area (NC) occurred when larger predatory YOY bocaccio moved into the control area (X) as the experimental area (C) was being harvested. The bocaccio removed in excess of 20% of the biomass of YOY blue rockfish, which was composed of resident fish and recently migrated fish from the harvested kelp bed. Predation on YOY blue rockfish was also evident in the harvested area. Population estimates using visible fish transects by divers correlated well with population estimates from the capture/recapture studies in 1976, but correlation was poorer the following year when many more fish were present. Upaya Peningkatan Manajemen Proyek Pada CV Nabila Zafira Mahalia Melalui Aplikasi Clickup

At CV. Nabila Zafira Mahali (Nazma) the daily recap of the work of the creative team still uses Google Excel which is prone to data manipulation by people who are irresponsible and don't have a good history of data records, if someone makes a mistake. Recap for monthly reports takes quite a long time, if there is an error in awarding honorarium or there is data that is not appropriate then it is not immediately known by management, the creative team's daily work report has an indirect relationship to the finance department, or the part that regulates awarding honorarium, if the data entered is unclear or inappropriate, there will be a delay in awarding honorarium. Therefore training is needed in using the clickup application which can help the creative team's daily work recap. The process of implementing the training stages begins with an interview with director Nazma and documentation of the required data, followed by determining and creating training materials, and finally, continuing online training using Google Meet, with material using the click-up application, one of the template features, namely CRM (company management profile) in the template there is todo (work list), in progress (under construction), Ready (ready) and complete (finished) features, so that management can monitor the work of the creative team more clearly. In the results of the training evaluation, a score of 70% was obtained on the value of the questions on the benefits of training and project management control

The use of computer-based assessments in a field biology module

    Get PDF
Formative computer-based assessments (CBAs) for self-instruction were introduced into a Year-2 field biology module. These CBAs were provided in ‘tutorial’ mode where each question had context-related diagnostic feedback and tutorial pages, and a self-test mode where the same CBA returned only a score. The summative assessments remained unchanged and consisted of an unseen CBA and written reports of field investigations. When compared with the previous three year-cohorts, the mean score for the summative CBA increased after the introduction of formative CBAs, whereas mean scores for written reports did not change. It is suggested that the increase in summative CBA mean score reflects the effectiveness of the formative CBAs in widening the students’ knowledge base. Evaluation of all assessments using an Assessment Experience Questionnaire indicated that they satisfied the ‘11 conditions under which assessment supports student learning’. Additionally, evidence is presented that the formative CBAs enhanced self-regulated student learning

This slide presentation begins with a recap on a previous lecture on the ECLSS subsystems, and the various types (i.e., Non-regenerative vs Regenerative, open loop vs closed loop, and physical-chemical vs bioregenerative) It also recaps the Equivalent system mass (ESM) metric. The presentation continues with a review of the ECLSS of the various NASA manned space exploration programs from Mercury, to the current planned Altair lunar landing, and Lunar base operations. There is also a team project to establish the ESM of two conceptualized missions
