Inference for the process performance index of products on the basis of power-normal distribution

[[abstract]]The process performance index (PPI) can be a simple metric to connect the conforming rate of products. The properties of the PPI have been well studied for the normal distribution and other widely used lifetime distributions, such as the Weibull, Gamma, and Pareto distributions. Assume that the quality characteristic of product follows power-normal distribution. Statistical inference procedures for the PPI are established. The maximum likelihood estimation method for the model parameters and PPI is investigated and the exact Fisher information matrix is derived. We discuss the drawbacks of using the exact Fisher information matrix to obtain the confidence interval of the model parameters. The parametric bootstrap percentile and bootstrap bias-corrected percentile methods are proposed to obtain approximate confidence intervals for the model parameters and PPI. Monte Carlo simulations are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed methods. The Healing Power of Storytelling: An Exploration into the Autoethnographic Process

I came to an epiphany as a writer and a person through autoethnography, a research and writing process that analyzes personal experience in the interest of understanding cultural experience. Drawn to a course by pure chance, I was given the opportunity to explore the genre of autoethnography by writing and researching through my experience with major depression.To write the full twenty-eight page manuscript of my autoethnography titled “Depressed—Proceed With Caution: An Autoethnography of Depression” I dove into my elephant-like memory for stories and read literature written by others who have lived with major depressive disorder. In the process, I learned more about depression, in myself and in others, than I ever expected to. I also saw the benefits of reading stories of another’s experience. Writing through my experience of depression was healing in a way that other writers cite. In myself, I have experienced a much-needed change in perspective through my research and self-reflection. In others, I have seen raw emotion in response to the pain found in my narrative accounts. My hope is to bring my story to a larger audience, to bring peace of mind to those who desperately need its light

Attacks on the government\u27s power to grant immunity to cooperative witnesses have been premised on several grounds, including the due process clause of the fifth amendment. It is upon this clause that the United States District Court of the Southern District of New York based a decision that a defendant was denied due process when the government refused to immunize him after granting immunization to its own witnesses. This article examines traditional arguments against challenging a prosecutor\u27s immunity discretion, the procedural and substantive factors necessary in substantiating a defendant\u27s due process claim, and the effect of immunization on the government\u27s burden of proof in future prosecutions

No Arbitrary Power: An Originalist Theory of the Due Process of Law

“Due process of law” is arguably the most controversial and frequently-litigated phrase in the American Constitution. Although the dominant originalist view has long been that Fifth and Fourteenth Amendment’s Due Process of Law Clauses are solely “process” guarantees and don’t constrain the “substance” of legislation at all, originalist scholars have in recent years made fresh inquiries into the historical evidence and concluded that there’s a weighty case for some form of substantive due process. In this Article, we review and critique these findings employing our theory of good-faith originalist interpretation and construction. We begin by investigating the “letter” of the Due Process of Law Clauses — that is, the original meaning of their texts. Next, to develop doctrine by which this meaning can be implemented, we identify the clauses’ original function — their “spirit” — of barring arbitrary exercises of power over individuals that rest upon mere will rather than constitutionally proper reasons. We contend that the original letter and spirit of the “due process of law” in both clauses requires federal and state legislators to exercise their discretionary powers in good faith by enacting legislation that is actually calculated to achieve constitutionally proper ends and imposes a duty upon both state and federal judges to make a good-faith determination of whether legislation is calculated to achieve constitutionally proper ends. Finally, we confront hard questions concerning the scope of the states’ reserved powers, acknowledging the flaws in the “police-power” jurisprudence associated with the so-called “Lochner era” and we delineate an approach that will better safeguard all “person(s)” against arbitrary power. By so doing, we assist state and federal legislators by providing clarity concerning the constitutionally proper ends that federal and state legislators can pursue; aid state and federal judges by equipping them to review legislators’ pursuit of those ends; and help members of the public by enabling them to monitor the performance of their legislative and judicial agents

Industrial GaInP/GaAs Power HBT MMIC Process

UMS has developed an industrial power HBT process especially dedicated to power MMICs in the 10GHz frequency range. The process has been qualified and meets the very demanding specifications required for X-Band high power amplifiers. Aside from the obvious RF performances, this includes the demonstration of the necessary stability and reproducibility of the process, associated with state-of-art reliability. It is important to note that the later has been achieved without affecting the high frequency capability of the devices, and demonstrated directly on high power transistors. Thanks to its intrinsic qualities this process can naturally also be used for other applications, like low phase noise voltage controlled oscillators, and power amplifiers at lower frequencies (for mobile phones for instance)

Bandung is a gathering place for creative groups that produce creative products. Urban toys are toys that have visual meaning by applying symbols into the shape of characters. Starting from the anxiety of the creator through the process of creativity, the toy products are power angers. The making of this figure starts from visual references which are combined with shapes and colours that correspond to the meaning on the basis of the type of human nature. The process of creativity used is imitative creativity (unconscious), the researcher looks at the creator in the space and time of the process of creating a product until product development.
