    Get PDF
This paper introduces the META-NORD project which develops Nordic and Baltic part of the European open language resource infrastructure. META-NORD works on assembling, linking across languages, and making widely available the basic language resources used by developers, professionals and researchers to build specific products and applications. The goals of the project, overall approach and specific focus lines on wordnets, terminology resources and treebanks are described. Moreover, results achieved in first five months of the project, i.e. language whitepapers, metadata specification and IPR, are presented.Peer reviewe

Multiword expressions in an LFG grammar for Norwegian

    Get PDF
This chapter describes the analysis of multiword expressions in NorGram, an LFG grammar of Norwegian. All multiword expressions need to be accounted for in the lexicon, but in different ways depending on the flexibility of the expression. Each multiword expression is provided with a lexical entry that has a special predicate name incorporating the lexical items that the multiword consists of and that specifies the argument structure of the predicate. In this way, analyses are provided for a wide range of multiword types, including fixed expressions, phrasal verbs, verbal idioms, and others.publishedVersio

Baltic and Nordic Parts of the European Linguistic Infrastructure

    Get PDF
This paper describes scientific, technical and legal work done on the creation of the linguistic infrastructure for the Nordic and Baltic countries. The paper describes the research on assessment of the language technology support for languages of Baltic and Nordic countries, on establishing language resource sharing infrastructure and collection and description of linguistic resources. We present improvements necessary to ensure usability and interoperability of language resources, discuss IPR issues related to intellectual property rights for complex resources, describe extension of infrastructure through integration of language-resource specific repositories. Work on treebanks, wordnets, terminology resources and finite-state technology is described in more details. Finally, our approach on ensuring sustainability of infrastructure is discussed.Peer reviewe

    Språkteknologiens behov for leksikalsk informasjon

    Get PDF
The information to be included in a lexicon depends on its intended use. Automatic syntactic analysis of a large and varied text corpus requires detailed information on inter alia countability, compounds, spelling and inflectional variants, neologisms, and multiword expressions, information that cannot always be harvested from traditional dictionaries. In this article it is shown how deep syntactic analysis of a corpus can contribute to the enrichment of lexical resources
