Science education in vocational schools has undergone several changes in subject characteristics. Science teachers need to understand these characteristics to facilitate the delivery and implementation of learning in the classroom.Therefore, the purpose of this article is to describe the requirements profile of needs for STEM teaching materials in science learning at vocational schools. The research methods used are descriptive and qualitative through field observations (field studies) derived from professional research in the form of curriculum documents, lesson plans, learning videos, and analysis of six science textbooks in vocational school. The results of a curriculum analysis from document, videos and textbooks on the availability of project-based STEM components in learning equipment plans and existing materials are still inadequate to support the life skills of 21st century professional students, and the following curriculum requirements are: Not yet supported. So, in future research need integration, project-based, and underlying skills according to competency skills in vocational school

A reference model for artificial intelligence techniques in stimulating reasoning, and cognitive and motor development

Artificial Intelligence is increasingly being discussed as something essential and pressing in all aspects and areas of society. Its potential use in education is no exception. Artificial Intelligence, in particular, and technologies, in general, are unavoidable elements to be considered in the teaching-learning process at all levels of education and training. There are many initiatives, essentially exploratory in nature, for the application of Artificial Intelligence in this process. Therefore, it is imperative to understand how they can be used for this purpose and how they relate to pedagogical methods. In the present study, and within this context, we address how Artificial Intelligence can be used in software to support cognitive and motor development and stimulate reasoning. We propose a reference model for techniques for this purpose. Concrete cases of existing applications are presented to better illustrate the potential of Artificial Intelligence in education.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Practical subjects in the vocational curriculum: A critical review of the literature

    Get PDF
There is a growing number of studies in the field of vocational education and training, including studies on the practical training that takes place in vocational colleges to prepare students for successful transition into workplaces. There is need to review these studies for systematic knowledge building in the field, and to provide an evidence base for practical training in colleges. This is what this critical review of the literature on practical training in vocational colleges set out to do. The review identified theoretical, procedural, technical and contextual forms of knowledge in practical work, and found that different knowledge types underpin different kinds of practical tasks. Based on these findings, the study proposes a framework towards enhancing practical training in colleges

Vocational education is higher education that must be in harmony with the world of work. The development of the world of work today is following the demands of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, namely the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, augmented reality, cyber security, artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing, simulation, system integration, and cloud computing. Prosser's theory says that effective vocational education can only be provided which training tasks are carried out in the same way as tools and machines in the specified workplace, so that learning carried out in vocational education must adapt to the development of industry 4.0. The research aims to establish IoT-based robotics learning media and produce valid, practical, and effective robotics trainer media. The research method used is Research and Development with a 4D development model theory. The model elaborates on defining, designing, developing, and distributing. The definition is based on the learning achievement of practicum material by the competence of robotics practice. The population in this study were students of the Engineering Faculty of Universitas Negeri Makassar. The research samples needed include a one-to-one trial consisting of 3 people, a small group trial of 5 people, and a large group trial of 19 people. The model design uses a nonequivalent quasi-experimental. The research data analysis technique uses descriptive analysis of percentages that describe the development results, validator responses, outcomes of one-to-one trials, small group trials, and large group trials. This study uses two expert validators in electronics, microcontrollers, robotics, and artificial intelligence. The results of the validity data analysis stated that the IoT-based robotics learning media had been declared feasible to be used. The results of the effectiveness of media products based on the pretest and posttest results show that the average value of students before using the media trainer is 43.8, increasing to 87.1 after using the IoT-based robotics trainer media. The research data analysis and discussion conclude that the IoT-based robotics learning media developed are declared valid/feasible, practical, and effective in its use

In the information age, technology has changed people\u27s lives as well as working and learning styles. The teaching competency of vocational teachers’ is facing new challenges. Based on the modernization of vocational education, Internet + Vocational Education , and reform of teachers, teaching materials and teaching methods , the study intends to enrich the research on vocational teachers’ teaching competency theoretically by establishing the framework, criteria and assessing instrument. In practice, the study aims to provide benchmarks and tools for the diagnosis and assessment of vocational teachers’ teaching competency. Furthermore, the study wishes to provide guidelines for vocational teachers\u27 professional development and improve the quality of the ICT teaching practice
