    Given here is a summary of the paper sessions and panel discussions of the NASA Workshop on Future Directions in Surface Modeling and Grid Generation held a NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, California, December 5-7, 1989. The purpose was to assess U.S. capabilities in surface modeling and grid generation and take steps to improve the focus and pace of these disciplines within NASA. The organization of the workshop centered around overviews from NASA centers and expert presentations from U.S. corporations and universities. Small discussion groups were held and summarized by group leaders. Brief overviews and a panel discussion by representatives from the DoD were held, and a NASA-only session concluded the meeting. In the NASA Program Planning Session summary there are five recommended steps for NASA to take to improve the development and application of surface modeling and grid generation

    The twenty-fifth session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC-25) took place in Port Louis, Mauritius, from 26-28 April 2006. The meeting was attended by approximately 270 participants representing governments, UN agencies and non-governmental organizations. The meeting saw the acceptance of the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories and adoption of its Overview Chapter, thereby realizing several years of work by the IPCC. Delegates also took action in relation to the IPCC programme and budget for 2007-09, further work on emission scenarios, election procedures, a policy and process for admitting observer organizations, the future work programme of the Task Force on National Greenhouse Gas Inventories, consideration of a Special Report on Renewable Energy, and a review of the IPCC’s terms of reference.     This panel session is designed to initiate an open forum and frank discussion of the IS 2009 Model Curriculum proposed by the Joint IS 2009 Curriculum Task Force and developed as a cooperative effort by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Association for Information Systems (AIS). Following an introduction to the new model curriculum, a summary and overview of the changes from IS 97/2002 to the IS 2009 recommended core and elective courses will be presented and a panel representing academia and business will address possible issues, challenges, and implications of implementing the suggested curriculum changes on the major stakeholders that include students, faculty, administration, infrastructure resources, and the business community. Concluding the session will be an open forum to allow audience participation in the discussion for the purpose of exchanging ideas on the implementation of the new model curriculum
