    Studentsā€™ Perception towards Online Learning across Multiple Disciplinary Courses in Indiaā€”A Qualitative Analysis

    Online learning has become essential to the teaching and learning approach during the pandemic. Due to its enormous benefits, online or e-learning can be sustained. The acceptability of online or e-learning depends on the studentā€™s perception and the availability of infrastructure. Data from various streams and age groups has been collected from students in different institutions. After collecting the data, this research incorporates descriptive statistics for a thorough analysis and utilizes the Chi-square test to provide scientific evidence. This study finds that the majority of final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students support online education. The studentā€™s economic status affects their preference for online or e-learning. Having a smart device and internet access also influence the decision to pursue online or e-learning. Gender is positively associated with access to Internet facilities and has a cascading effect on preferences for online or e-learning. Female students prefer online classes but require additional internet resources. Higher education institutions could enhance their online course offerings by targeting specific groups, such as female students for postgraduate programs, if they could better understand their preferences. Even though some existing studies in the literature have examined the Indian scenario to understand the factors influencing the adoption of online education, none of these studies have considered the fundamental need for online or e-learning. Moreover, the preferences were not studied based on different demographics. This research work has collected and utilized data from various educational disciplines across multiple institutes, marking the first endeavor of its kind in the literature

    The purpose of this study is to find out college students perception towards the learning platforms and their priorities with regard to online learning as well as offline learning. Rapid developments in education technology have provided many new options of learning to students and thus made this research important to determine their preferences for the same. Moreover due to covid-19, the students have fresh experience of online learning which would make the comparison more relevant. The study makes comparison of online education and traditional way of education from the point of view of Post - Graduate students from M.COM, MBA, MA (economics), M.SC, and M.TECH respectively. To know their perception and preference, online questionnaire was constructed via Google form and data was collected from 100 respondents. 10 variables based on 5 point likert scale have been used to analyze the perception. These variables include Convenience, Flexibility, Teacher ā€“ student interaction, accessibility in terms of time and cost, Freedom in learning, Doubt clarity, Learning experience, Content analysis, Adaptability and performance evaluation. This preliminary analysis of students' perception will determine whether there are statistically significant differences between online learning and offline learning, and preference for online learning technology between gender groups and between post graduate students from different educational qualifications and family income, along with investigating the reasons for their preference

    Exploring the Role of AI Explanations in Delivering Rejection Messages: A Comparative Analysis of Organizational Justice Perceptions between HR and AI

    The increasing use of AI decision systems in recruitment processes has created challenges, including potential resistance from job applicants. To address this issue, drawing on organizational justice theory, we identify dimensions of AI explanations in the employment context and examine their impact on job applicants\u27 perceptions of organizational justice. We conducted an experiment to understand applicants\u27 reactions to AI versus HR managers without explanations and examined the impact of AI explanations on organizational justice perceptions and acceptance intention. Our findings show that without explanation, AI is perceived as lower organizational just and acceptance intention compared to HR managers. Organizational justice mediates the effects between outcome/process explanations of AI on acceptance intention. However, outcome explanations have a stronger impact compared to process explanations. Our study contributes to understanding explanation structures for AI-based recruitment and offers practical implications for developing explanations that improve the perceived justice of AI recruitment systems

    Perceived Thermal Environment of NaturallyVentilated Classrooms in India

    A ield study of thermal environment in naturally ventilated classrooms was conducted in the Department of Architecture at the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, India. The study included 176 architecture students and was conducted over ive days during the comparatively cool months of December and January. The results show that 82% of participants voted for ā€˜comfortableā€™ on the thermal sensation scale. Cross tabulation of thermal sensation and thermal preference shows that 50% of those who voted within the ā€˜neutralā€™ thermal sensation range preferred cooler temperatures and 43% wanted no change. Classroom temperature was acceptable to 85% of students and unacceptable to 15% of students. Perceived thermal sensation tends toward the cool side (mean -0.26). Regression analysis yielded a comfort zone (voting within -1 and +1) of 26.9ā€“30.8 Ā°C, with neutral temperature of 29.0 Ā°C. Standard adaptive comfort models yielded lower temperature than ield indings

    The face of Indian retailing has witnessed a rapid transformation over the last decade. It was rated the fifth most attractive emerging retail market and ranked second in a Global Retail development Index of 30 developing countries drawn up by AT Kearney. This is evident from the fact that shopping mall activity which was earlier only a part of the big cities has started percolating down to smaller cities and towns. There is brisk development of retail space in tier-II cities and towns of India barring the Far East region with the development at 220 new shopping malls by 2008. This has resulted in the Indian consumer being exposed to a variety of retail formats leading to change in consumer buying behavior. The entertainment and curiosity value of the new formats is fast diminishing for the consumer who is no longer satisfied with the blanket proposition offered by them .In order to cater to the increasing complexity in the market place the Indian retailer will need to know his customer and design a unique value proposition for his segment. Segmentation is useful because it goes beyond total scores or averages and helps in identifying and grouping the differences such that they are actionable

    Eager of convenience is the natural phenomena of all mankind. Similar pattern has been observed in food related decisions. Owing to the rising trend of individuals towards the consumption of packaged food the transition of disease pattern from acute to chronic has also been noticed. Psychologically, individualsā€™ intention is the foundation of their actual behavior. Individualsā€™ intention and actual behavior are correlated with each other, therefore, it is expected that positive strong intention direct towards actual purchase of any object. Furthermore, the research on consumersā€™ intention towards packaged food in developing and under developing countries are still far behind to figure out the solution on this issue. Therefore, this study has targeted Pakistani consumers to examine their intention towards healthy packaged food consumption. The objective of the study was accomplished with traffic lights symbols, health claims, user friendly food label, subjective norm, self-efficacy, attitude towards food label, five personality traits and intention to consume healthy packaged food. Ajzenā€™s theory of planned behavior was used as the underpinning theory. For data collection self-administered questionnaire was employed to target MBA students of fourteen universities. The sample size was 537 and technique was systematic random sampling. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the complete model. The traffic lights symbol was having ineffective for Pakistani consumers whereas health claims and user friendly food label indirectly influenced consumersā€™ intention with the mediation of attitude. In addition to, subjective norm and self-efficacy were having positive significant effect on intention to consume healthy packaged food. Moreover, conscientiousness and agreeableness were supported for moderation effect. Theoretical and practical implications are also discussed. Finally, this research provides suggestions for future research

    The study aims at investigating the awareness and usage of electronic information resources among postgraduate students of library and information science in Southern Nigeria. The descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. The census sampling technique was adopted for this study. Thus, the entire population of three hundred and seventy-five (375) postgraduate students of library and information science in Southern Nigeria were used as the sample for this study. The questionnaire tagged: Awareness and Usage of Electronic Information Resources by Postgraduate Students of Library and Information Science Questionnaire (AUEIRPSLISQ) was used as instrument for data collection. Four research questions were answered and two null hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The simple percent statistical tool was used to answer the research questions and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (PPMCC) for testing the hypotheses. The results obtained revealed that postgraduate students of library and information science are quite aware and highly use electronic information resources. The study also reported that postgraduate LIS students are skilled in the use of electronic information resources. Based on the findings the study concluded that electronic information resources are essential tools for empowering postgraduate students of library and information science in Southern Nigeria

    Updating PowerPoint for the new Business Classroom

    Aim/Purpose To update a 2010 study that recommended ā€œrules of thumbā€ for more effective use of PowerPoint in the post-secondary business classroom. The current study expanded the focus to include the business classroom in India as well as the US and examined possible shifts in student perception of the utility of PowerPoint among Generations Y and Z. Background The study examined studentsā€™ perception of the learning utility of PowerPoint in post-secondary business classrooms in the US and India and the relationship of the use of PowerPoint to course ratings. Methodology Surveys were distributed in post-secondary business classrooms in India and the US in 2018 and early 2019, resulting in 92 completions from India and 127 from the US. Separately 50 student course evaluations from the same US college were compared to the use of slides as well as to their conformance to the ā€œrules of thumbā€ for effectiveness established earlier and other measures of quality. Contribution These results show how PowerPoint is viewed by post-secondary business students in India and the US and its perceived utility as a learning tool for Generations Y and Z. Findings Most post-secondary business students (80%) found PowerPoint an effective learning tool, but only 21% of the business classes examined used it. US students were more positive than Indian ones, who were more likely to say PowerPoint is overused
